Does anyone think theres a way to get on top of the castle without having to get 120 stars? I mean...would there be a possible way to get up there and talk to yoshi? I'd give props to anyone who shows evidents... - RemieGino14 -

Getting to the top of the castle is easy. I've done it on console, but only on the right side. I've seen a video by holymoly (banned from SDA) getting up on the left side, as well as the right side. I think it was mentioned in this thread. I can' find a link right now, but I'm sure someone else will :)

Yes, you can get onto the castle, but Yoshi won't appear until you get the 120th star. (Yoshi even shows up in the ending if you have 120...)

Notice that you don't hear him walking around up there until you get to 120 stars. That's too bad that he isn't there, though. That would be worth the price of admission.

Getting to the roof from the left is quite hard but the right just takes a few minutes of practice. http://www.vortiginous.com/cbright/Castle%20Roof%20from%20Left%20Side.avi http://www.vortiginous.com/cbright/Castle%20Roof%20from%20Right%20Side.avi

I just got up from the right side. That was awesome! I've never been on the roof without using the cannon before. Even the red switch block was still translucent.

I've never even tried to get up on the roof, so it was funny to see it done. Thanks for sharing!

http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/supermario64-foda-120stars-wip-v38.zip Only missing the 100 coin + 8 red coins star, i'm posting this because i've made every star faster than spezzafer's + the "blast away the wall" star is now officially a cannonless star. thanks blublu, here is a working savestate (slot 9): http://rapidshare.de/files/11686142/sm64savestate9-v38.zip.html

If you load that savestate whileplaying, the movie will immediately desync. :( At least it does for me. Edit: wow, Blast away the wall nearly made me poop my pants. No, not really, but it was still pretty amazing. :)

For me too :/ But still wondering how you managed to get the star without blasting the wall away? Amazing work there!

Well done! This way, you don't have to open the cannon = you save more time! What was the time to complete the game in the test run? The final run should be at least 20 Min faster!

The test run is 2 hours and 10 minutes long. The way i did whomp's fortress would make spezzafer's run 16 seconds faster. edit: it's 1:42.7 faster than the test run so far. Guybrush: i put a link there to a new savestate. sorry for the trouble.

All I can say is... wow. The Shoot Into the Wild Blue and Blast Away the Wall stars were insane.
edit: it's 1:42.7 faster than the test run so far.
The Whomp's Fortress section or the entire run?

It's been too long since I followed this run, because it looks amazing. I should get back on the channel. If only I had the time for it.

Don't get your hopes too high, this was a burst of productivity i have tons of stuff to do untill march, i don't think i will make too many more stars untill then. Hey i just read in gamefaqs that ameba2 read my blast away the wall discovery and he could reproduce it on his console :) that was quick hehe

Holy crap! I can't believe you didn't blast away the wall. Just so I'm clear on this, using the owl to get into the cage was only faster because you didn't have to open the cannon?

Well it sure was one hell of a burst of productivity... =) That's cool though because March-ish is when I start freeing up too so I can watch the progress and keep offering the useless feedback I've been offering the whole time... =P

Wow it's not everyday a new capless/canonless or a new coinless is found. It seems pretty doable on the console since that dude was able to collect it within 20 mins from a somewhat abbreviated explanation. Those people on gamefaqs are going to flip.

Clearly I'm a n00b here, just an old SM64 fan, but Im really curious.. the backwards-jumping glitch .. how is it done?
