Snake Rattle'n Roll done about a minute and a half faster than before, using 2 players and some new tricks and shortcuts.
  • one player controls two characters
  • manipulates luck (a lot)
  • uses no warps
  • aims for fastest time
Emulator used: FCEU 0.98.15 (also plays in earlier versions through 0.98.12)
The first few levels were made by 'playing normally' as far as TAS-making goes, then it became too tedious for me (with 2 characters to control) so I added auto-hold to FCEU and used that heavily (and mostly frame advance) for making the rest.
The biggest mistake I made in this run is missing a shortcut near the start of level 4 that would've saved 3 seconds (and thus 1 or 2 seconds over Hanzou's run). Normally I'd consider that unacceptable especially in such a short movie, but I didn't discover it until after the movie was finished, and it's a 2-character run with many hard-to-make optimizations, and most everything else is faster, much more than enough to make up for that time loss even without including things that are only made possible by having 2 players. Anyway, besides that, and the unavoidable delays caused by having an extra character that doesn't share powerups, and the extra lag caused by having a second character, most things are (as I said) noticeably faster than before, and I think having 2 players made it a lot more fun overall (because of better pacing of action and more stuff going on at once).
I had to wait around a little before going in the door at the end of level 1, otherwise the game would've warped me to level 8 (because of the level being completed so fast that the game would assume I must have gotten onto the warp rocket).
Random note: Look at around frame 20000 (after the fish level) - both snakes happen to have exactly 200000 points then.

From what I remembered, I thought you needed to collect more pellets than you did to complete levels. Are there any differences over that concept in general from 1-player to 2-player? The run is pretty good, so I vote yes. However, I also I don't think this should obsolete a 1-player run. This would have been voted on last night, but my internet connection is about as stable as (some hilarious comparison). I hate Charter.

You just need a certain number of tail segments, which can take different numbers of pellets depending on which colors you eat. With 2 players, each player has a color that gives them more than it gives the other player, although yellow gives a little more than either. (Same color=2 units, other color=1 unit, yellow=3 units, each tail segment=4 units.) The act of eating (and getting a powerup) is also much faster with two players due to the cooperation that's possible to cut out the waiting, and the parallelization. And each stage starts out each character with a certain number of units already eaten, which with 2 players means up to 2 less fish to eat overall if you give each player the right ones. The score countdown is also faster as a result of less fish per player. (On the other hand, 2-player is also considerably more difficult, both in normal playing with 2 people and in TAS-making, for other reasons.)

I'm not sure what you're asking - did I already answer this?

Well, it seems this game was meant to be played 2-player, but... so many things are different (some faster, some slower) that I agree on this (or at least, can see a good case for it), although the 1-player run could be obsoleted pretty easily by doing some of the same things done in this 2-player run in a 1-player run. (Which I might do if this doesn't obsolete the 1-player run.)

Finally one wish comes true. All the times I wish me a 2-Player run from this game and now finally its done. Congratulation. Again great new shortcuts and great played. Very entertainment. I wish I can vote 2 times Yes for this 2-Player run. ;-)

Those two new shortcuts in World 6 were a real surprise. Voting yes, and I'm cool with this obsoleting my 1-player run.
