I didn't see a thread for this game already, so I figured I'd start one. This game is basically a port of mega man legends from PSX, but seeing as we don't have a psx rerecording emulator, this may have to do. I have LIMITED knowledge of the psx version of the game, but I'd be glad to try to help anyone interested in doing a run of this game. Any estimates as to how long it would end up being? It seems to me like it was a really long game. . .

There are MUCH worse games for n64, and I think of it more as an RPG than as a mega man game. SDA time for the playstation version is 1:08, so i don't think it would be unreasonable to see a run of this game. What do you guys think?

It's technicaly not a megaman game. Does not have the story. Does not have "robot masters", and I haven't checked or anything, but is it even made by capcom?

It is most definately a capcom mega man game, just like all the terrible battle network games are capcom mega man games.

Yes, it's not a Mega Man game. It's just a game named Mega Man. If you like action-adventure, you would like this game (on the PSX). Personally, the gameplay is OK, although the game is graphically challenged on the N64. I didn't play through the whole game, though. The 3D and the choppy emulation got me.

This game wasn't as bad as, say, MMX8, but it's surely nothing to run home to. Either way, I would watch this run simply for the Boss fights and 'dash' routes.

As for the question of how fast it should be, the Megaman Legends run on Speed Demos Archive is 1 hour 8 minutes. I think that one is newer than the one I've downloaded and watched, but even still if I remember the differences between the that and this N64 version, there's less loading times in this one? If that's so, I wouldn't be surprised if we could get it under an hour? That would certainly be my hope/goal, anyways.

The bossfights would be kinda stupid because the bosses can't handle circlestrafing. I even remember exploiting strafe walking to outrun a boss that was supposed to be faster than you...

Actually, I think the boss fights could be much more entertaining because you have a better chance of using circle strafing as a last resort. You might be able to spend a lot of time hugging the boss doing minimal dodging.

One thing that would make bossfights sucky though, is that you can only shoot like once a second, until you upgrade.

Yes, it is a Megaman game. After years of having fans argue over whether or not Rockman Dash / Megaman Legends was a part of the same timeline/universe as the original- and X-series games, it was revealed in a book -- I believe the statement was made by Inafune himself -- that it is, in fact, the far future of that same timeline. So like it or not, it is a Megaman game.

No. If that's your criteria, Megaman Battle Network 2 is more of a Megaman game than Megaman 3 is.

I've started making a TAS, the first time I tried making a TAS under Mupen64. Don't expect much, though. I don't know much about the game. By the way, could anyone list the buster parts that are important to get?

I don't remember all the parts for this game, but probably the important one for a tas would be ones that increase rapid and power. Thanks a lot for taking this on, I look forward to seeing it.

blaster unit R and blaster unit omega seem to be best, but I have no idea which would be fastest to get. I'll watch the sda run and see what it looks like.

After a busy week, I finally have some progress. The run goes up to defeating the Marlwolf boss: http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=7234221 Although this is a pretty hard game to optimize, I was amazed at how fast the boss battles went. Splash Mine does a lot of damage to everything ground-based. I forgot to check whether Bon could be hit with Splash Mine when he lowers to smash Mega Man. A few things about the run: - It is faster to run diagonally. When going straight forward, using the strafe buttons does not affect Mega Man's forward speed; thus turning at an angle and pressing forward+strafe goes faster. I didn't start doing this until after the first boss. - I don't use lock-on because it can't lead a sideways-moving target. To shoot airborne enemies, I use look (C-right) and the directional keys. - Sometimes the camera angle affects lag, but I won't bother to reduce lag in this run. I've been watching the SDA run of Mega Man Legends and I can't figure out why he gets the Cannon Kit in the run. It takes a lot of time to get and he doesn't use it a lot. I also think he picks up too much Zenny. If anyone would like an .avi, I'll try to make one.

Looks good so far, but it desynched on me in the bnig city area past the junk shop. You got hung up on the corner of some buildings and didn't go through the door at the other side. . . What rom are you using? Also, what plugins? It's killing my computer, and really laggy, maybe its the plugins' fault. Anyway, keep up the awesome work.

I can't believe I missed this. You must check raw data for the movie to work properly. I enabled it by accident when starting the run. I took it off later, but it's useless now. Edit: nitsuja says not to record with raw data, although I'm not sure why. I'll have to remind myself the next time I make a run.

I made the run that is at SDA. First, I would like to say it is not that great and since then I have beaten that time. I haven't recorded it yet but it is around an hour. Possibly less. I also made it really quick and didn't really try too hard. I'm hoping to send in my new one this month. Anyway, I got the Cannon Kit to make the Powered Buster to open the ceiling in the Clozer Woods Sub-Gate. Probably faster to get the Guidance Unit (Active Buster) instead. I collected way too much Zenny in the run. I agree with that. I mainly got so much so I could upgrade the Active Buster for the battle in the sky against the Gesellschaft and for Bruno (Old City). Im really curious as to what could possibly be done to fix the run even more. I haven't been able to find much in the game. Nihility and I have been trying to find some sequence breaks in the game but have had no luck with any of the ideas. Oh, if its not much trouble could you make an .avi of it?
