Yes he is the slowest star in bob-omb battlefield. well except for 100 coins itself... he will slowdown no matter what route i do : / because i have to go to those 4 poles and spin around them, that's nowhere close to his racing path, so he'll slowdown.

You have probably already thought of this, but just to be completely certain, make sure to abuse bljing on the elevators in HMC when you get there, as well as any other elevators in other courses that could be useful (although I can't think of any...TTC maybe? I doubt it)

Yea we were discussing TTC a while back and decided that though we/he should definitely try it it's probably too horizontally gaping and vertically oriented for the BLJ glitch to be of particular use.

Well, there are a lot of moving platforms you could fiddle around with in Tick Tock Clock.

sounds like a lot of moving. finishing as fast as possible is not the best way to go. to get 100 coins it takes way longer than the time waiting for koopa there.. so IF i do KTQ + 100 coins it would be: - talk to bob-omb - talk to koopa the quick - get as many coins as i can, far from the top of the mountain - finish the race - get more coins, get the 100 coins star - get the race star
You're sure it wouldn't be faster to get some coins before starting the race so you wouldn't have to revisit the mountain?

Just a thought, maybe you could jump up to the place where you spin around the sticks, get the coins, then jump back down and talk to KTQ. It would get quite a few coins out of the way if there isn't enough time (you can do some kind of jump up there can't you?)

When I tried the BLJ in TTC I had problems because the walls of the level aren't solid walls, if you get what I mean, if you BLJ too much you just fly through them and out of the level.

BLJ in TTC will be totally useless as it's a vertical level. At least that's what i think, but MAYBE it will be usefull on some really small fraction of it, which i seriously doubt... About the KTQ yea it's been suggested to me by Itstoearly on the IRC channel that going for the poles coins might be a good idea, and i agree. Problem is the 8 coins rings by the flower bed near the falling bubbles of water.. They were in the path from the poles to the metal balls area. I don't think i can skip them completely because there is no little koopa for me to kill and get a blue coin, so i'm scarce on coins in this level. edit: Hello Dom Dunc! welcome to the boards :)

One question: If you do 100 coins with the KTQ star, how can it possibly save time to do other things before starting the race? He's pretty close to the starting location and he must make at least a little bit of forward progress when you're off the path compared to not having talked to him yet.

Foda told me he didn't have enough time to get 100 coins after starting the race and still win the race, so he has to get some either before or after the race.

I can take coins before talking to him or i can take coins after getting his star. There's no way to talk to him, then get 100 coins star (which can appear anywhere on the level where there are coins) and then getting the KTQ star at the top of the mountain. I need to take the 100 coin star before the KTQ star, because the 100 coin star is the only one that doesn't exit me from the level. So there..

Oh. I thought the problem was that KTQ was too slow, but it's actually that he's too fast.

After thinking a while here is a route I came up with: -Talk to the KTQ -get the coins from the box, then under the bridge -up to the red coin and run around chain chomp's post -get as fast as you can to the side of the mountain (going direct over the cage with the star), where you can collect a row of coins -finish the race getting all possible coins the way up -long jump to the island in the sky and get some coins up there (may skip if not necessary) -get to the area with the 4 posts and get all possible coins -go to the flower bed and get the coin ring (I hope you have 100 coins by this point) - get into the cannon and blast to the top to collect the star from KTQ. You may use this route with some modifications. Or just post the vid with the stars in BOB so far, to give us some more ideas.

The question is, when you finish the race (without speaking to KTQ at the top of the mountain), and leave the top of the mountain, can you still go back up there later and claim victory? Meaning, does your time save? And does he slow down even after you finish the race? (Lazy bum). If so, FILIM0NAS's route seems pretty good, although, aren't there some coins near the flower bed, below near the purple switch? And the transition between the island and the flower-bed seems pretty long. Maybe you can BLJ to the island (like you mentioned) after you get the red coin on top of the chomp, and then make your way up the second half of the mountain? -KTQ -under bridge/box -chomp/chomp post -BLJ to island -long jump to top half of the mountain -scale top half of the mountain to finish the race (collecting coins obviously) -slide down green slope (free red coin :))/collect coins on the bottom half of the mountain -coins near pswitch(1) -coins near flower bed(2) -coins near red coin posts(3) -cannon to the mountain -$$$$ Note: 1,2,3 may be switched around, since I'm going by memory. I dunno, what do you think? If you can miss 6 coins, ignore the chomp coins, and start BLJ immediately after the coins under the bridge/box.

Nice ideas there. This is a rough route then mixing up all these ideas. Keep in mind i can't use the cap/cannon/warp during the race or else KTQ says i cheated and won't give me the star. the file comes with a savestate (slot 8) http://rapidshare.de/files/12649945/supermario64-foda-120stars-wip-v57.zip.html About the bob-omb king, i am almost 100% sure that simply climbing the moutain the old way (wall kicks up the shaft then warp hole) is faster than all that BLJ, but i'll test it out to be sure.

Really? I was pretty sure you could get away with using the mountain warp... Or at least I remember my brother said so...

Oh forgot to ask, how do you longjump to the island? i can't do it either from the top of the mountain or from that little wooden bridge near the top.... the island is too far

I'm just going by an assumption that it's possible due to this and previous posts.

You can indeed use the warp during the race, I've done it myself recently, and countless times before. However, using the cap and the cannon is out, though.

Curtis Bright has a video of it at vortiginous.

Might be just me, but the savestate doesn't work for me. :P Not a big problem, of course, since I can just rewatch the entire thing (it certainly is entertaining enough ^_~)...

The savestate worked for me, and that's all that matters! Because I'm selfish. Okay seriously, that last star was pretty exciting. But it's hard to say whether that flight plan was the best choice. Maybe you could have turned tightlier or landed earlier.

How do you watch wip from the savestate? When I load it, nothing happens.

That's OK... turns out it was my fault. I corruped the movie file, somehow, but I got it to work now. :)
