Well, for starters, I'm glad that they're Google ads rather than DOWNLOAD THE NEXT-GEN SMILIES HERE Flash banners. Google ads are easy to integrate into the site without making it too obtrusive. It's mostly the lack of consistency that ads bring that bother me.
Vitaly Friedman said some good things about ads on his blog entry called "
20 Rules Of Smart And Successful Web-development":
"Disturbing ad blocks might improve your ad revenue for a while, but in a long run they won’t make your web-site successful. In fact, you won’t gain respect and explore the potential you and your projects might have. However, ads perfectly combined with the main content and placed well in the structure of the site (i.e. devblog.de) don’t disturb. Furthermore, thus both reputation points and ad revenue points are guaranteed."
The example he cites,
http://www.devblog.de/, indeed has brilliantly integrating Google ads.
I think that your use of Google ads can still be customized a little bit more to fit in even better. Once it's settled, I personally won't have a problem with it. Sure, I'd rather not have advertisements, and it kind of does violate the whole "do not post these movies on commercial sites" thing, but the Web isn't for free and if this is what it's going to be, then so be it. :)
