It's Mario 64 thread, not FODA's Mario 64 run. And as far as I know, there's no specific rule that we must absolutely talk about anyone's run here. It's Mario 64 thread. conker64's attitude wasn't offensive and he is respecting rules on this board.
I agree with Phil here.

Yes, like 12 seconds faster than the wip 57. Then i did the remaining 3 stars, now i'm at bowser. I will post wip after i beat him.

Here is a WIP that finishes the bowser stage 18 frames faster than spezzafer's. Looking back at both movies, i think spezzafer's look a little more impressive because he rotates the camera so much (so it looks like there is more going on). It also plays the bowser and gets the key, but slower than spezzafer. He manipulated or was lucky that bowser did a hand attack at the very beggining of the fight, and i couldn't replicate it. This saved him several frames. I must try to get it right, if anyone knows how to, let me know. http://rapidshare.de/files/16672174/SUPERMARIO64-FODA-120starsWIP-v73.zip.html there is a savestate for slot #8 that starts at the bob-omb-battlefield first star. (CHECK "READ-ONLY" WHILE PLAYING THE MOVIE).

Woohoo! That Bobomb battlefield was amazing! That trick you used to get to the summit just floored me! Keep up the nice work. Also, you get good style points in the bowser stage.

Incredible work FODA! That little fit Bowser throws at the beginning of the fight may be stored to memory before you enter the actual level rather than Bowser's fight room, although I haven't tested it. I was lucky (it didn't happen in the first test run) that time, since I didn't know where/when the source of the randomness was.

That penguin race was magnificent, the whole thing was. Great work.
What's a man like me supposed to do with all this extra savoir-faire?

*jaw drops* Wow, what an amazing WIP. I never would've guessed you could skip Bom-bomb Battlefield and start somewhere else. The tricks and glitches used were great. I loved the way you beat Koopa the Quick up the mountain. It was so great, you were on the island in the sky getting coins and he's still running up to the top lol! Pure genius! Great job, can't wait to see more.

It was definitely worth the wait to see the Bob-Omb Battlefield redone plus the first Bowser stage. Nice work Foda! I liked much more of your "run" to the top of the mountain to battle Big Bob-Omb this time (it just somehow looked better). Also, nice usage of the camera lock. It brings something change to the run and something that one (or atleast I) didn't expect. But don't use it too much during your TAS, just once in a while or it will lose it's elegance. ;) Now go back to work on it so we can see more! :P
Which run should I encode next? :)

Well done FODA! :D Very nice video. Was it only me or is your second attempt at princess slide slower than the first visit?

I bet that was to not trigger the secret star to appear. Anyhow, is this a WIP on the full run, or did you start with the 16-star run? I hope it's the full run because I so badly want to see that ;) And I don't want to watch any WIP's because I'd like the whole experience at once. In any way, keep up the awesome work Foda!

Yes, it is. But as far as i can remember, FODA wanted to show two different tactics: 1. Beat the Slide-WR 2. Get the level done as fast as possible Maybe I misunderstood it, but it's been something this way... And now I have to watch the new WIP!

Right, because he activated the secret star both times anyway. He was actually slower on the first attempt because he wanted to get the best "game time" for it.

Absolutely awesome. You did a terrific job in the first Bowser stage, especially the way you launch yourself off of the switch and up the stairs before fighting Bowser. The gameplay is excellent. The only thing I could possibly comment on is the choice of camera angles. When you use the backwards long jump technique to send yourself rocketing up the mountain to fight the big Bob-omb, it looked really cool with the stationary camera at the base of the mountain, so I was kind of disappointed to see that replaced with Lakitu's chaser camera. Also, you used the stationary camera when Mario wall jumped up to the next level of the mountain in the next star, but the camera seemed too distant to get a really good look at it. I think the rapid wall jumping would have looked cooler (and less expected) if the camera had followed him. As soon as the camera becomes stationary, we know that Mario is about to do something cool, but we don't get a very good look at it that time. The gameplay is just excellent, so the only thing left for us to talk about is to play film critic and talk about the stylistic choices and camera angles, which are also pretty excellent. Great job!

Thanks for comments everyone, apreciated :) The princess slide, exactly what spockybiemmichab said. About the stationary camera when going up the mountain, yea it was better the way it was before, but that was only possible because i had so much speed at that time, so the camera got inside the mountain and i could lock it in there (this way we could see mario all the time, because the walls only show to one direction). But this time i didn't have so much speed, so i had to let it follow him. About the camera when going up the shaft, i agree, i should have let it follow him. Oh well i only watched it after i was already flying to get the coins so i didn't feel like remaking just for that. But i'm learning what feels better with the camera as i'm making the run. Right now i'm trying to get the "eye-to-eye in the secret room" star without the vanish cap. If i can't do it, i'll go to the basement, get the vanish cap, and then enter either hazy maze cave or shifting sand land, depending on MIPS' movement. Probably SSS. About the 16 star run i've decided that making the 120 stars run first is better so i can get enough experience to be able to squeeze as many frames as i can on the 16 one later :)

Sorry if this is a waste of time, but I am having difficulty playing this in MuPen. I checked the .m64 file as read only, and I have the rom Super Mario 64(U)(!).z64; is there a possible reason for this, or am I just missing something?

Open the rom, wait untill it is totally loaded (wait untill you see the mario 64 logo) then start playing the movie file. If you want to load the savestate too, after loading the movie wait untill the mario 64 logo shows up.

Are you using the rerecording version of the emulator?

Oh that's right, you don't check the file as read-only :P you must use the re-recording mupen, open the rom, then choose "start movie playback" and use the movie file for that.
