Graveworm, you always win. :) I have no doubt you could obsolete my 100% run by 15 seconds or more. I also finally started Super Metroid Tricks, for anyone interested in how some of the glitches work.

It's actually 4 frames faster than the last one, 2 frames before the escape, it's possible to improve further by another 4 frames, but this causes the escape to screw up forcing me to wait anyway, and another 2 in the escape, even though the time difference is only .01 second, the timer counted a bit different. And don't worry about me obsoleting your movie, I wont even try until I've found a way to get the spring ball without ice nor grapple. Which probably wont happen anyway. I'll look through the Super Metroid tricks page, and I'll let you know if there's something I want to be in there. :) Edit: You should add that morphing through platforms only work on temporary or moving platforms, like frozen enemies and whatnot. And also, morphing as far from the ground as possible, still making the game believe you never landed, (Turning around and morphing/unmorphing makes Samus not register anything but continues the last input until finished, you could try letting go of jump or shoot while turning around, it wont affect Samus. You may already have added some of this, anyway) to make it go as fast as possible. Of course you know this, but apparently not even Michael Flatley did. Phantoon takes 200-300 damage from a charged wave/spazer, and 600 from a Super Missile. So a super Missile deals somewhere around twice as much damage.

Thanks GW, I'll add those changes in later tonight. I found a few useful memory locations for this game. Thanks to flagitious, for showing me that this tool exists in SNES9x. (Go to Cheat -> search for new cheat, and then select memory locations and click "Watch") 7E09DA, 7E09DC, 7E09DE These three locations (and probably a fourth nearby) tell the in game-timer, in frames, seconds, minutes. I figured this would be extremely useful for Saturn in particular, or anyone else optimizing to the in-game timer. 7E0F8D, 7E0F8C These locations are energy of an enemy in the room. More importantly, in a boss room, it is the boss's energy. This will help me out on the remaining bosses. I'll also add these to SuperMetroidTricks later.

Praise you guys, I haven't ever realised there are SO MANY tricks possible in this game. By the way JXQ, don't forget to add kagoball/waterball to the morphball tricks section (I've never been able to figure out why the waterball actually works; apparently, I didn't try to).

O_o i guess its been so long since i watched it i just assumed it was 100%.. oh well i thought for sure i watched a 100% TAS of this before... actually i remember someone made one that they tried to send to SDA even though they made it on emulator ( dont really know the story but i think thats it) so maybe thats the one i watched

JXQ, I tried it out. There are at least two heights you can use to kill all four enemies. My idea didn't pan out though. :/ I trust you tried both possible. Though I doubt either would save you a frame if you used the other.

I actually didn't know of a second height, I just picked the lowest height I could use and still kill all the enemies (I also think I had to wait a frame to hit the larger enemy). I figured any higher jump would take time both before the shinespark and afterwards, falling to the floor for longer (although this would be minimal, maybe not even a frame, since my overall direction is to the right at that point).

"Water ball" works because as a ball you keep all your speed when going into the water, you can even keep speed booster even if you don't have the Gravity suit if you jump into the water from ground, you can also use the "mockball" technique under water if you have speed from over water level and jump into the water, also, since gravity is changed under water you bounce much higher and can keep your speed longer, even though the water slows you down due to friction. "Kago ball" is already added, and called "Morphball through platforms". I for one do not know what "kago" is, so that name is very uninformative, I would call it a hitbox abuse, since the morph ball has the same level of lower hitbox as unmorphed when not looking/aiming down, whereas when looking/aiming down Samus hitbox is smaller both on the top and the bottom. I hope this will be new information for someone at least, or else I may have wasted your time.

IIRC, Kago is the name of that spore hive in Crateria, near the green Brinstar elevator. Michael used this tech on it first, hence the name (or at least that's how I think of it). BTW, thanks for the info Graveworm. :)

In the hidden area behind the charge beam, when you were heading out of there, how did you manage to shinespark up the series of platforms going up to the door without running into them and loosing momentum?

When you diagonal shinespark, you only stop if you hit a ceiling, not a wall.

I just thought I'd post a movie I've been playing around with for the last couple of days, it's very sloppy and I bet you've already seen most, if not all of the tricks and strategies used in it, but it might be fun to watch anyway. :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/947/ For some reason I used a bomb in a place I should've used a mockball, (In crateria.) but I'm too lazy to fix that, since it doesn't really matter anyway.

I just wanted to try something new, but I've been playing with that route on the super nintendo, and I get slightly better times than before. (I'll usually do 100% in ~1:00 in-game timer, without saves. A couple of minutes better .) It might not have to do with the route, but with my skill increasing, but I feel more comfortable using this route. And I'm doing the rest of the game up to X-ray scope the same as you are going to do it, just incase you wondered. Even though shoulder button pumping makes the movie a bit faster, it's not enough for me to want to use it in a "for fun movie".

It's true that my route has almost zero console potential (mostly due to the lack of charge beam on Crocomire). It's also surprising how good a Super Metroid run can look even when it's called "very sloppy" by the author (which I can't say I quite agree with in this case). I'll be interested to see that run progress, that way I can steal your good strategies and use them for my own benefit MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. J/k. But seriously.
