Whenever I try to play back certain movies with version .7, the program always crashes hard (sound and everything--very annoying), and I need to force-quit it. Does anyone know why this is so? Thanks.

Try disabling "Sync sound with CPU" (inside the movie play dialog) when playing the movie. Also, could you give some information about your system and what sound settings you have selected (especially what it says for Sound Driver), and what game it was and whatever else you think might be relevant? This problem happens to some people, but I have never seen it happen or heard of any conditions that cause it, so it is still a complete mystery to me.

This seems to be working. Thank you, nitsuja.

Did you see the questions I asked? It would help to find what's causing the bug. Some games require sync sound to not desync, so for them you'd have to choose between probably crashing and probably desyncing, as it is now.

I'm sorry for not answering your question--I'm afraid I don't know where to look for that information, though.

I was having the same problem lately, but after reading nitsuja's post, I tried changing my sound driver from "snes9x DirectSound" to "FMOD DirectSound" and that seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks nitsuja ;)

Had the exact same issue and changing to FMOD DirectSound fixed it also. I have a X-FI Xtreme music if it matters.

never had this problem before, but it started cropping up after an upgrade... changing sound drivers works though.

I just have the problem of it staying in memory after closing it (And it messes with alot of other programs and emulators causing them not to start until you end it's process).

I too have been having this problem and couldn't figure it out, but the fmod sound change did work. If you want my system info, lemme know.

I'm having trouble enabling FMOD in the newest versions of 1.43 and 1.51... I have the fmod.dll in the directory, but it doesn't show up in the sound settings.

Hrmm, I'm having the same issue, no FMOD available in the options. It freezes pretty consistently when running games. Only happens on my Vista machine though. EDIT: v1.51 fixes the issue. 1.43 is the one that freezes and doesn't display the FMOD sound option =/.

Same here. Snes9x directsound crashes on my computer and I don't have the fmod option in the later versions of 1.43
