haha, you guys maybe reading me wrong. I skip it with the trick I saw. When exiting the same door I skipped, I try to move but the Farie tells me the same thing because I am in front of the door that she is triggered to tell me that.

Boss 1 Done in ~13 min. I tried uploading to the MicroLoader but it wouldnt accept my Mupen record file so I just go to my site that I love best to upload. I also use Zelda v1.2 http://download.yousendit.com/2D1D379046840478

I understand exactly what you mean. Since you didn't activate the text thing last time, it's still active when you go back. But I think there might be a way to skip it on the way back anyway. Of course, you are more qualified to talk about this than I am, since you're the one doing the run and I haven't even experimented at all. Regardless, if there is NO way to skip that text the second time, you should still skip it the first time because it looks more cool/funny that way. :D

Why do you use v1.2? v1.0 has more glitches.

Well, I found Acryte's speed guide to this level, and it says, "Make sure that you e(6) because if you e(4) or e(5), you will be placed on top of the Door Message's boundary and will be forced to sit through 10 seconds of stupid text, or in a speedrunner's case, be forced to reset." I think that's code for hitting A when Link's standing at the righthand edge of the door rather than centered right on it. I found that in this post http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=consoles_newer;action=display;num=1139424279;start=1174#1174 in the middle of the topic, so I don't know if there's something newer or more complete yet. And what's the .sra file for? That's just a save file. Shouldn't you be uploading .m64 files?

Hmm, what kind of file is that? It doesn't appear to be a valid Mupen record file. Perhaps you should have put the .m64 file instead?

Please use Mupen64... How do you even record on Proj64 anyway?

Actually he posted a link to the mupen m64 file, which I promtly d/led and tried. There was a desynch somewhere along the line in the intro text stuff (I have the same rom checksum, same controller + all plugin settings). Looks like he deleted his post; perhaps he meant to put up a different version or something.

You have to turn on Raw Data in the input plugin. (And I don't recall seeing any Project64 recording...)

Heh. You are right of course. I've seen that suggestion a thousand times on this forum but never followed it because I never got desynchs because of it. Anyway thanks. Pretty decent run so far. I think you should keep it up! In fact, that other guy that said he was committing to doing a TAS doesn't seem like he's too serious about following through on it. Yours is the farthest I've seen. I hope you decide to repost the WIP from the post you deleted earlier so that others can see your run (unless you're making some changes and redoing it, I guess).

Wasn't Acryte waiting for someone to implement the system reset as recordable input? Well, maybe we should wait for a finished test run anyway so we know what does and doesn't work. The only difference is that the test run won't include save-warping. (Or is that a big enough difference to mess up the route? Someone should check...)

Please reupload it. The lack of a "soft reset" is simply an excuse; there are ways around this problem. In a test run, one could simply die and continue to keep the movie in one piece. If it comes down to it, we'll make a save state for each segment. I really don't think Acryte is serious about doing this, so anybody else who's interested should go for it. Just be sure to keep up with all the tricks on SpeedDemosArchive, and release frequent test runs so that in case you miss a timesaver we can give you a heads-up about it.

ill repost my run as soon as my boss 1 is done. I got up to him 30 min ago without a deku stick and I should have saved one uplong lighting the 1st web and quickly bringing out my slingshot to use on the boss. Ill be done in around 2 hours. And please, for the love of god, if you would like to contribute to this run.....be my guest.

What is 'boos 1'? Also, are you using all of the latest tricks for OoT?

Some of you may already know me from SDA. I'm currently the provisional record holder for this game. My best competive time for this game is 4:40 and I also have a 3:57, but that was under casual playing condictions where big skips were used. I have been interseted in doing a TAS run, but I'm more interseted in beating this game in under 3 Hours in an SS (on a console of course). I also discovered big tricks myself all which can be found on SDA. Is your 13 min run from the moment of gain control or from when power is on.My best time for Kokiri; from gain control to activating the Hyrule cutscene is 16:55. The vine text skip is not worth skipping from experience. If anyone needs help on TASing this game then I'm defintitley a valuable asset.

I skip all texts in deku tree which does save me a good 30 seconds. I keep finding new tricks by myself but then look at topics and they have already been found :( Im almost done with my WIP EDIT: Done with Boss 1 (Gohma) at 13 Minutes exact. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1095/THE%20LEGEND%20OF%20ZELDA%20%28USA%29.m64 EDIT: In Lake Hyrule, I cant find out a fast route to get 20 Rupees, anyone with suggestions

Can't get this to not desynch as soon as Navi meets Link. All plugins match, rom matches, made sure raw input is unchecked, etc. Can't figure out what the deal is.

Actually making sure raw data is checked is what fixed it for me. Try that.

Ooh, this run looks even nicer. But does anyone know if you need extra heart containers in the future to survive something?

Looks good so far, although your web fall shortcut is not perfect: Acryte's initial demonstration ends with Link landing on the switch that activates the fire.

Wow, this is looking pretty darn good! Note that it is possible to skip the message about diving for interesting stuff. See Acryte's walkthrough. This saves about seven seconds. Get the 20 Rupees for fishing from Mido's house on your way out of the forest.
