Hello. When i first found a speedrun of a game(megaman4 i think) and i found this site i said to myself :"Wow how can someone do such things". I bet you paly the game you make a run of like 863587 times a day or something ;).And even if i did play a game every day (more than once)-i mean to beat it i still wouldn't come close to all you guys. How did you learn to play so fast !?!?!?

I suppose you have already read the Why And How page, which explains the things about tool-assistance. If you haven't, read it. Otherwise, you may be misunderstanding something very fundamental about these speedruns. The answer: Analytical perspective. Be observative, be careful. Basically, be everything the Guidelines page wishes the players to be. That way you can find things most players will not notice :)

>I bet you paly the game you make a run of like 863587 times a day or something ;) This sentence makes me think you haven't understood how the runs on this site are made. Please take a second to read the pages Bisqwit linked to. We use slowdowns and savestates to play perfectly. Training and reflexes has nothing to do with it. The videos are meant to be entertaining, not as a proof of playing skill.

A troll who says, in essence, "wow, you guys are good" and also thanks Bisqwit after being pointed in the right direction for understanding what the runs are (and what they're not)? Unlikely, I'd say. Most trolls have a tendency to actually, you know, troll. :)

But please remember that this is totally different skill than what is needed to make real time speedruns.

In terms of strategy and route planning, maybe. In terms of actual reflexes and stamina, very unlikely.

Well yes-for the reflexes and stamina i think someone can't learn that-you have to be born with it...

how would reflexes be involved when you can play the game frame by frame ? you can take all the time you want before hitting the frame advance key. (I feel stupid saying that :/) about stamina though, I admire the patience the best players have to play/rewind thousands of time the same 2 seconds of the game just to be sure to squeeze as much frames as possible.

That has nothing to do with stamina, that's a matter of persistence. You still can leave the game at a given frame and continue it at any time. You can't do such a thing in a single-segmented run, that's what I mean.

If you taught a monkey how to play Rockman with quick saves and quick loads, then recorded an fcm of it and posted it online, somebody who didn't know better would watch it and think "hey, that guy is really good!"

Guys, I'm really hungry, but it's 6 am here so I can't go to the store. My only options are ramen noodles, which I don't really like, and some semi-disgusting sausages (there's nothing wrong with them, I'm just not a big sausage fan. I know I know, why the hell do I buy food I barely want to eat?), I think they're called Chorizos. Other stuff I have is salt, pepper, olive oil and cheese. Let me know what you'd make if you were me. Extra bonus points for including recipes (spelling?) of flavorful and exciting dishes I can make. Let your imagination flow! Thanks. Edit: I actually have some ham too, but it's past its expiration date so I'm reluctant to use it.

If I were you, I'd remember that sausages are, in fact, delicious and cook those, possibly with cheese depending on the type and shape of the 2 foods. And definitely some pepper. If I were you and also had eggs, I'd make a sausage cheese & possibly-expired-but-probably-still-good-ham omelette! Also pepper.

That's a great quote in your signature. Also, eggs? What a luxury.

They all use steroids to enhance their game performance. This is the steroid league. If you want "natural" competition, go to www.speeddemosarchive.com , but they're just afraid to reach their full potential.

TASes are made by designing a program that accepts microphone input. Then you simply talk the computer into making the run for you. Typical input: User: Hey, can you make a movie for me? Program: What game? U: Rockman 2. But I think in Japan, it's called Rokkumanarasu Boomshakalaka. P: Error. No such game. U: Well, how about Megaman 2? P: What do I get if I make the movie? U: A browser cookie... it's only a few bytes though! P: Lollerskates. U: Yes, make the movie. P: Making movie..... P: Done! U: Thanks! You're my fav program! P: You're welcome. U: Computer, upload Cookie slash four slash six star star star. P: I love you!
