Hello everyone. Since many of the recently published movies have been improvements over existing ones, this brings up a question is it possible to run both the new movie and old movie at the same time to compare the differences with bare eye? Of course this would require instant playback on both, so I guess it needs something for command line. Which movie player and settings you use to get it working? Thanks.

Yay! More Aapos in here. Welcome :) But an answer to your question: You can open 2 emulators at once watch different movies with them. It's the easiest way.

When I want to do this, I just set both instances of the emulator to <=25% speed and get them going manually (ie almost at the same time). It's not an ideal solution since I can't pause both of them at the same time or make a multitas, but it works fine for comparing and means no digging through the sdl docs.

Actually, you can pause and unpause them at the same time. Pause them before opening a movie then go to the config and click "accept input from a backround" and then unpause. Don't know about other emulators but it works in FCEU.

So do I need only emulator (which?) and movie file that works with that emulator, or also ROM for every game? I have ZSNES in my computer.

ZSNES isn't supported here (yet), so you can't use it to watch these movies. You can find the supported emulators in the FAQ. I don't know about other emulators, but FCEU accepts input when on the backround. So you can playback two different movies at the same time. And yes, you need ROM for that certain game you want to play/watch and the movie file which you can download at this site. But if you want to play the AVI-files of two different movies at the exact same time, I can't come up with anything else than dual-encoding.

It's easier just to use two computers. [/stating the obvious]
