Well, I decided to try it again...not even close to done, it's going to take a while. I'm trying a few new things out, but mostly trying to find ways to avoid some damage. As for grenades, the games pauses 1 frame to fire them, so if I can kill an enemy with a grenade that would otherwise hurt me, I save a few frames. I'm playing mostly at 25%, and switching to 5% in a couple spots to count frames and find out if options a or b are faster. Guess I'll see what happens. ----------- Okay, it didn't take me quite as long to finish it as I thought it would. And I beat your time...again ;) I finished with 19:12, an amazing 7 seconds shaved off your time. I didn't really think I would beat it...and I certainly didn't think I would by that much. This is the type of thing I had in mind for my Monthly Challenge. If we could have more people focusing on less games, then the videos would be much more refined, as shown in this thread. Even if only 2 people participate, it's shown here that you can still achieve amazing improvements.

WalkerBoh: I don't plan on submitting until we've decided that the game can't take any more of our constant abuse. Good luck beating my time. I have no idea how I kicked the 3rd boss's butt so bad. It could be pretty tough to repeat. And I'm pretty surprised neither of us had thought to use a grenade and take the shorter path on that one section of sector 4 just after the contact. Dan_: Yeah, having some competition has made this a lot better. I would've just left it at 20:00. I've had a lot of fun trying to figure ways to shave off a few seconds here and there. It's why there are such awesome runs on things like Mario 3, and Megaman, because more people do them. I think after Power Blade is done. I'll pick a game that somebody else has done and try to beat their time. Maybe another game WalkerBoh did ;) -Cheez

well...when you finish it let me know, since I got bored and played through one more time and got 19:11, a whole 71 frames faster, with about 900 more re-records. It's getting near impossible to shave off any more time, unless someone finds a good trick we didn't know about. -Cheez

This game is unknown to me, but it reminds me of... say, Shatterhand. I see some little delays in WalkerBoh's movie, but they're really few, and the first Batman submission had a few too. Well, I think it's more like your 6th, but it's actually like version 12 or so, the times went: 20:12 -> 20:00 -> 19:43 -> 19:41 -> 19:27 -> 19:20 -> 19:19 -> 19:12 -> 19:11 -> 19:09 -> 19:07 Also to note in the movie is the killing of all the enemies we do. Each one killed in order to get the powerups and grenades we get, and some of them are really hard to get right, but you can't tell just from watching. Another spot you lose a few frames is in sector 2, in the first room with the 2 big heads that spit bubbles, you could've grabbed the ladder at the very top instead of having to climb a short ways. I spent about 100+ re-records on that spot trying to get it just right. Also, the further you fall, the faster you fall, so if you take a full jump off of edges instead of a short one, it's actually a little bit faster, but they're just minor details. -Cheez
