This is a very highly skilled speedrun/timeattack or wathever you call it. Red Scarlet breakes Smokeys record and achives 0:55 minute to complete the game.. Very nice run! Here is the Link:http://www.planetquake.com/sda/other/supermetroid.html#100

Sheeis, now I have to watch it again. I've watched the 1:00 run, the 0:58 run and now I have to watch this. Silly record breakers...

At least you didn't attempt to download the 0:56 100% run that was added about 2 days earlier.

Check this out. Ran into it when I was running to Brinstar. I dont know what was causing it, but I think it was the "HYPERSPEED-thing" in the beginning(where I start the recording). The screen isnt quite whit me and I think that is the thing that causing it. If I dont do the hyperspeed the glitch is not there. http://frenom.areta.org/fmv/supermetroid-frenom-ju-graphic-glitch.zip It only affecting when I run(ning)/go left. Kinda cool anyway, if only I could get those 2 energy tanks ;) Rom used "Super_Metroid_(JU).zip".. watch it. :)

It's Shinespark ;) and it's very odd that it would be causing these graphical errors. Is it always when you go left or does it disappear after a while?

Just wondering. Working a little bit on a timeattack on Super Metroid. There is already so many 100% item collect and I was just thinking what i should do. Do the 100%(with is what im working with) or just the fastest way thru the game down to motherbrain? I am planning to do it after the 100%.

I'm more interested in watching "as fast as possible" than 100%. Be sure to check out the "unassisted" speedruns on www.metroid2002.com. Some interesting tricks there. My favorite is bypass the Zebtites (those tubes that block your path and you have to use missles to destroy them) en route to the Mother Brain.

Would you be using the route seen in RedScarlet's 0:55 video or the old one (like in Smokey's 0:56 vid)? Or perhaps one of your own?

I'll be taking the route that Redscarlet does. Except for all the items that he taking. I began from the beginning and are just about to enter the ghostship. I have record 15 min and I've got morph, bombs, missiles(dont know exactly how many I have but I think I got 25 or something), 5 powermissiles, 5 powerbombs, kraid dead, varia, ice, wave, spazer, charge, hijumpboots, speedshoes, grappling(took it so I can kill draygon faster later) and 2 energy tanks.. I will needing 3 in the battle with Motherbrain. I will be nearly forced to do the Zebetite glitch. I dont think I have have so many missiles ;) Im thinking if I should I rescue'ing the aliens in the end or let them die ;)

Well it wastes about 15 seconds or so for the reward of seeing a moving round thing for 2 seconds. But then again you need them to rescue you in Metroid 4 ;)

I'm working on a no-damage run (Don't mention the Mother Brain hit, I know.) I haven't done much, i'm in the process of buying a new gamepad, but I figured that playing the entire game without taking a single hit would be quite an interesting watch.

So you're doig to "kill" Ridley at the start instead of get damaged to make him leave?
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

I would love to see a pure time attack of this game. I have watched some ones speed run of it and it looked awesome, even though it wasnt tool-assisted. I wonder what the fastest possible time is.

*sob* I thought I could make the game it with 25missiles, 5supermissiles and 5 powerbombs ;) well.. I was wrong.. oh well im retrying from the beginning and changing my route a little after some sleep. But clearly annoying when you thinks you can make it and in the end with MB and you realize that you are 5missiles short.. Shot.. *mutter*.. Nighty ;)

Yep. I already have that part done. 100 hits. I also won't take any 0 HP loss hits (Like the falling debris during the exploding Ceres, and the ending Tourian scene) The only required hit in this game is that of Mother Brain and her eye laser. Which takes 3 energy tanks with the Varia and Gravity...I believe. It's either 3 or 7. I am just going to get what's required to defeat Mother Brain and her henchemen with no snags. It's not going to use the RS Buletta route, since I don't want to watch the video of her beating it. Too boring.

You can turn off the Varia/Gravity Suit to increase the damage taken. Likewise, you can turn on all the weapons simultaneous, a trick known as the "murder beam."

A speedrun (with the use of re-recording, etc.) would be really nice to see, because the "real" speedruns are damn good and insanely impressive already.

Woah, cool. I know nothing about SM, which is quite apparent.

I'm going to play through SM (I know all the tricks etc. and my personal best in speed without emu is 43 mins :) so it'll be really fun). EDIT: God damnit, I forgot that my keyboard is totally ****ed up and I can't press more than three keys or whatever. Do I need a new keyboard to fix that? i.e. I can't sprint, hold forward, and jump. *sigh*

Jupp.. I have the same problem with one of my keyboards. Kinda funny.. my wireless keyboard can hold up to 5-7 buttons at the same time, and my other can hold up to 3. Anyway.. just completed Super Metroid at 53 min 40 sec which is 34 min in the game. The clock stops whenever you take an item and so on. :P so have that in mind. I just put it on the Submissons. :)

I have the same problem. Usually if I need more keys pressed down than my computer can handle, I'll set some of the keys to the same button. Works well when recording frame-by-frame.
