I just watched the movie from
http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=120
I enjoyed it and also noticed a number of things.
Right before vile in the first Sigma area,
you climb to the top of the ladder and wait
for Zero and vile to talk. There is a bug
that lets you skip this. When near the top of
the ladder, jump off, then wall jump off of the
side of the ladder to the wall, then wall jump
to the other side of the room and fall into the
door without touching the ground,
which is what activates the sequence.
I can make a ZSNES movie of this, if you like.
A number of times in the movie, you use the
storm eagle weapon, then wait for it to go forwards
and kill the enemies when X's normal weapon would
kill them faster so you would not have to wait.
For fighting bosses, I noticed that you used very
different strategies between the first and second
encounter, usually with one being noticably faster.
Since in making these movies, you know the
immediate future, you should take advantage of
that to make sure that the bosses get hit right
when they become vulnerable.
There was a similar comment earlier in the thread.
For Boomer Kuwanger, your missile wanders
around and wastes time, similarly, for Mandrill,
the first time you do freeze, refreeze, but the
second time, you do freeze, hit, refreeze.
It is good to have variation, but not when it
affects time. A place that could have been done
a little differently is Armadillo. You could have had
some shots above his head and he got hurt from
the shot coming down, instead of shooting him
directly.
In many places, you choose to climb the ladder
instead of wall jumping. Are you sure that way
is faster?
For a tools-assisted movie, it is odd to use
invincibility that much. It seems to detract
from the movie. Are you sure that you need
to do that to save time?
Thank you for making an entertaining movie!
