Full game completion of GnG.
  • The 1st half is 6 seconds faster than Arcs
  • Manipulates Luck
  • Aims for fastest time
FCE Ultra 0.98.15
This run takes Arcs route because it is the fastest one at the moment. I tried some damage boosts on places but no luck. Enjoy!
On stage 2 I dont wait for the elevators, I merely let them go off screen for a split second then they go back down.
The next noticable differance is on stage 4, I take damage on the dragon and kill it at the same time rather than let him float around and take charge.
On the 2nd quest, I pick up the dagger to throw faster, the Javelin takes too long to throw 2 at a time.
The 3rd stage on the 2nd quest is done extremely faster than the 2nd because of the dagger and also the enemy stays low to the ground to kill easy.
The rest is pretty much the same as the 1st quest except for boss movements because they are technically "advanced"
Enjoy!

adelikat Good improvement over a famtasia run. (How often is a run obsoleted by another run almost twice its length?)

Have followed your progress so I can vote yes without any hesitation. Good work. Edit: Guano, I have absolutely no intention of discouraging you or to belittle your submission. I just wanted you to know that I believe my My Test WIP is around 15 frames faster than your first level (note that I did not defeat the first boss). However, I took the flame so who knows if I would have been 15 frames faster if I had the dagger. The reason why I like the flame is because its still active after it has landed on the ground, thus any zombie ahead will be killed walking on it. Another thing that should be improvable is your first boss battle. When you are shooting at it, jump forward so your shots will connect quicker. Edit 2: Actually, I dont think it should be slower taking the flame in the first level because both you and Arc took it in the second level.

This TAS obsoletes Arc's Famtasia run and fully completes the game. Looks great. Well played. Yes vote.

Yes Vote. Absolute fluency the way you utilize such shoddy gameplay and complete the game fully while staying entertaining.

The new version on which I'm working completes level 1 31 frames faster than this movie. I know the first part of level 2 (up to the escape from the house) can be done faster. I have an idea that can (greatly) improve level 3, but I'm not sure whether it will work. Level 6 may also be improvable. The second quest is unnecessary.

I agree that the second quest is unnecessary. Because, all you get is a 20 seconds of ending and then you restart again.. not worth it.

Well, for 1, Arc, I am not trying to Obsolete your run in any way. Your run completes 1/2 the game which is apparently enough for most of the people here. But to me, its not the "COMPLETE" game. I merely wanted to give a movie showing the real ending and bad engrish..haha that word never gets old. Some people cannot finish this game 1st time around on a console, and once they finally beat that dumb bastard it says the room is an illusion and they just shut off the game. I know this because I have done it several times attempting to beat it a 2nd time around. So IMO, a full run of this game is needed. If there is a no for this, then I ask, Why is there full runs of games that complete 100% and games that complete 15%? This game completes 100% of the game instead of 50%, right? Maybe I'm just rambling. Bababoey, Bababoey, Howard Sterns Penis.

I voted yes - mainly because this is an improvement to a famtasia run. The only thing that really salvages a TAS of this game is how easy it makes this difficult game look. The second quest is retarded, but a true TAS of the game wouldn't be complete without it as the game isn't really over. EDIT: What's with the hole in the guy's shoulder? Horrible animation in this game :p

To be honest with you, I don't like this game. At all. Okey, one quest is fine but two? Nah... But I'm here to judge gameplay, not my presonal opinion. For those who fought with this game as kids, I'm sure this run i eyecandy. I can't detect any mega-flaws (no minor neither) so I'll give this a yes-vote, acctually.
Bein' away for like five years, and not a single new post in the ZSNES forum... :'-(

Indeed. This kills the run.

Why WOULDN"T it obsolete it? Why would we have a published run that completes just one quest and then another that completes both? This makes no sense. Anyway, I am voting no on this submission due to the second quest. I guess stopping the recording sooner and resubmitting (or editing this submission I guess) would fix that. Other than this problem I like the run (though from Arc's comments, it definately seems improvable).

If you don't like the second quest, you could always stop watching after the first one's completed, nothings forcing you to keep watching the full 17 minutes. But for someone who might want to watch it all, it could be an option.

Close calls and excellent manipulation of an obviously difficult game means a yes vote from me. One thing I didn't like though was the repositioning for the keys at the end of most of the levels. With a TAS you should get it right the first time in my opinion (unless that had something to do with luck manipulation).
<Zurreco> if so called professional players cant adapt to every playing field, theyre obviously not that great

IMO the game isn't completed before both quests have been played. The game requires you to play through it twice. It's a part of the game. This site is about playing games from beginning to end, not from beginning to halfway. In my opinion the movie must end in the REAL credits/ending/whatever and nowhere else.

That was the greatest example of Engrish I've seen in a long time. I actually did not know you could get an ending that was like that. I honestly thought the game would keep repeating itself and placing you in traps devised by Satan. Great job.

Well, if that is what it takes to complete the game so be it. Watching the "2nd quest" isn't near boring enough to warrant a rejection. I'll accept this run.
