I haven't forgotten about it. I hope to get started on it soon, once I'm settled.

Not yet, I guess. His personal page says he's searching for his motivation.

The motivation should be that Juste is the coolest Belmont ever! Or does that not help enough?

I think he's having already too much fun working in that factory 12 hours a day!

I'm getting ready to start this run, for real this time. Currently I'm just messing around with the game, emulator, and looking for random memory locations, re-familiarizing myself with the game, and so forth. I have a busy weekend, but next week I should hopefully start making some progress.

Will you be using my route or have you something better in mind?

I've yet to test that far. I'm currently getting used to frame search, and spent some time trying to find the memory location that determines critical hits (with no success so far). I have a feeling it will be your route, but I'll let you know if I have any different ideas to see what you think of them.

Yay, JXQ for pres. Good luck with this! Hopefully you can find the memory address for the criticals, so you don't have to waste 10 seconds or so to get the soul orb. Though, I admit seeing it say critical one after another is pretty cool.

I have a feeling there will be more than one address for critical hits. For instance, you can hit 2 enemies with the same attack and (I think) on the same frame and critical one of them but not the other. Also we had determined when I started my run that it would be more entertaining for the viewer to see all the damage from critical hits pile up rather than just see bosses fall after an arbitrary amount of seemingly ordinary hits.

Even if I found the address I'd still get the Soul Orb, because I really like seeing critical after critical after critical. I just thought it might cut down on the amount of tries it would take to normally get it. Oh well, I'll keep researching.

Yeah, whats 10 seconds to a (rough estimate) 30-40 min TAS? I'm interested in seeing where using the launch glitch will save time.

Oh crap, now this sounds like my DW4 run. Good luck with that. After a few hundred, you will want to beat your head repeatedly on a concrete block.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Well at least I have this to look forward to! In memory searching news, I have it narrowed down to only 3000ish memory locations as long as my assumption is right! Meaning I think I will not search for this anymore, and learn mechanics of the game more specifically instead.

Oh JXQ, what won't you succeed at? I would suggest that you plan for where and when you're going to need the dagger for the super flying attack of obliteration and when you're going to need other subweapons for other events. This is assuming that you're going to use Kaz' cool little route.

I'm considering doing a run that doesn't get the five Vlad parts and the best ending. I haven't decided for sure, but I'm basing it on the fact that all it does is make the run longer, which isn't typically a good thing unless it's also bringing something new. I don't think an extra boss fight would qualify. Thoughts?

I'd rather see the better ending.

A bad ending run wouldn't be that much shorter. You won't need the vlad relics but you'll need to break the destroy hand on the castle top floor A (a sizable detour itself) which still requires maxim's bracelet, the crush stone, the super jump and the crush boots, and collecting all these is about 95% of the good ending run. The only really big detour for a relic is the ball race room. The only extra bosses are giant bat (you should obliterate him in a couple of seconds) and dracula's 2 forms. Not fighting dracula in a castlevania game is pretty lame unless the main character is dracula. =P

I'd like to see the good ending too. It's not much longer and you actually fight Dracula. Not fighting Dracula in a CV game?!?! Blasphemy!!!
