Actually, we are seeing a lot of people making Mario's NES games on SMAS. Someone already thinking in made a Full Run of this game? Finish all mario games (With warps, of course) in one single run. I'm doing DKC3 now and not very good in playing Mario games, but here is the Idea. :)
Not more working on: DKC3 105% < Needs modified Nitsuja Snes9x+9, with reset recording.

The problem with this is that these games already have TASes made of them and those runs are very optimal and hard to beat. If anyone was to attempt this they would need to beat the original times to impress the masses, however, if this was the intention it would be better done with the single game on the NES. Personally i think this could possibly be entertaining, but i don't think that everyone will think so.

We already have videos of all the original games. Why would you need to do them again using the remake? Even if this kind of movie was made, I doubt it would ever be accepted for publication.

nitsuja's SMB3 run received plenty of acclaim, while S@G has shown the SMB1 route to not differ significantly. The viability of this idea might depend on whether there exist new interesting glitches in the SMB2 remake.

Looking at Nitsuja's submission text he says that the left-right glitch in that game can ONLY be done in the SNES version. If more All-Stars specific glitches are uncovered for each of the games then this idea may have a future.

SMAS SMB2 lacks the up+down ladder trick.

Perhaps there is another glitch to compensate for this? Not knowing much about this game i can't really help. The chances are that if the glitch was fixed for SMAS Nintendo obviously looked back over the games and fixed them up a bit. I reckon Nintendo will have fixed a few more and so there will probably be less glitches to work with rather than more.

It would be interesting if it could be one of those play all games with one input thing.

Grafical quality. And, as said for SMB3, maybe new glitches can be found. And at my own, i think this will be a good short long movie :D

That's not possible unless you use both the Mario All Stars ROM and the All Stars+World ROM. Then when one ends earlier than the other, you could start playing a different game on that ROM while the other one is still finishing, staggering them until there aren't any left.

Or perhaps you could stagger them by a frame, start the second copy a frame later than the first, the third a frame later than the second. etc. etc.

Personally, I would rather see a full run of this game with all games fully completed. But that's just me probably. ;3 It is true that each game has it's own full run, but I think this would be in it's own catergory, since the others have only been run on the NES Emulator. Well. I'm done, the Humidity is killing me..

it would be possibel to make a faster TAS of SMB3 on SNES then the one on NES. With the left+right glitch, you're move directelly at full speed to the right. All five Games, that would be interesting, with warps, without the video would be to long, I think.

It still ended up being a few seconds slower, and also was canceled since it was so similar to the existing movie. http://tasvideos.org/891S.html

But that would be just like the NES run! Maybe you should do "all levels and most points and lives and items possible", or just "all mushrooms and most coins/lives possible" for 2 USA.

For SMB3 it is probably possible to "port" a NES run to SNES if all you want is prettier graphics. It would take some effort though, editing in a delay at every transition sequence and deleting a frame wherever the NES version lags (which normally only happens every 9 minutes or so, but not always).

no, thats not possibel, Mario Jumps different on the SNES Version. But waht I meened, is that the no Warp Speedrun on SNES would be faster with the Left + Right Glitch.

Not true. I should know... Mario handles exactly the same as long as you don't press left+right.

I'm pretty sure that some of the physics are different, or the layout is different. There was a post where it mentioned someone couldn't keep P-Speed in SMA, but could in SMB3...

Let's see how many gameplay differences you can spot between this SNES movie and the first 3 levels of Genisto's NES SMB3 movie.

They look pretty identical/the same, is it just a direct port on certain frames?

I've played SMA and yes the gameplay is slightly different, you cannot gain runnig speed as fast by a few frames and you can't maintain speed as well by jumping without horizontal motion. Plus the collision detectors are not the same, making running into an enemy and jumping not as efficient plus some tight maneuvers aren't doable in SMA.

Hello, all. I'm working on a all-stars speedrun and I need a little help in world 1-1. (Here) I need an idea of how to get past the two pirahna plants without stopping or getting the 'racoon' thing. Any ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You might want to take a look at this. It's a submission by nitsuja, which was cancelled (I believe for being too similar to the NES movie or something).
