You're usually not someone who throws rational discussion aside and lower yourself to making worthless petty crap comments. I do understand, though, that american politics is a subject that often brings this out in people.

Please don't turn this in to a "this is why the US/Bush/republicans/etc sucks" or "hey, now you can come to my country" thread.
Also, I'm fairly sure that this bill is only supposed to affect non-legal citizens or legal migrants. Not that that changes much, but it isn't like the bill says 'all in the US are to be victimized by whim'.
Arg, this is why I don't like political discourse on forums...
My oppressed neighbours to the south, Canada welcomes you with open arms; the beer's better, smoking pot is only frowned-upon by authorities and health care's covered ;)

adelikat makes a point. This isn't the first time that things like this (restriction of habeas corpus outside of martial law) has occurred in the US. However, it only seems to be a bad thing when American Conservatives do it.
Also, L4yer fails to note that there is a lot of protest going on about this bill, both before and after it's vote.
Regardless of whom the bill targets, it still removes a number of rights, thereby giving the government supreme control ... will have to read into this more though
I wonder if this officially elevates Bush from normal villian to cartoonish super-villain? Why would the articles in this bill need to be passed anyways?

When you see a summary like that, isn't it basically an admission of guilt that war crimes have been committted? Or worse, that he's now got carte-blanche?
Not only that, but he's about to say, "Execute Order 66!" At which point everyone will laugh and say, "Silly Bushie, you mean Order 67! You were thinking of the Route, you word-goofer, you!"

There are worse things starting in the UK. Not to say that this is the best thing ever in the US, but it's not like America is the only place with this kind of stuff going on.
