Anyone remember Ziplock? He was a great guy hanging around here for awhile submitting some TAS'es. What he did mainly though was that he had an own TAS site where he accepted most runs as, if I recall correct, he wanted to have a movie of every game! I really liked this idea. He also held some competitions in order to push the limits of a few games every now and then. The price were money I think. Anyhows, I really liked the dude, but then all of a sudden he dissapeared. I haven't seen him on this forum for a long time now and it sadens me. Does anyone know him? Or know what happend to him? I also recall in some thread someone assuming the worst, that he might had past away somehow. I really hope not, but if, let's cheer and remember a great TAS'er! Atleast I will remember Ziplock.

I have no idea where he went. It reminds me of this though. There has been a number of people here who just up and left and never said anything about it.

I started making TASes at about the same time he left. I finished my first mike tyson's punchout run and he posted that he would like to put it on his nintendo records site. Alas, soon after the site went down and he was never seen from again. :(

His actual username is "-ziplock-", so he appears at the beginning if you sort by username.

Hmmm, found his profile page here and found out that his RL name was James Browne. But searching his name in google turned up only Godfather of Soul results :S His website seems down, and he isn't active anymore in 2 other forums which he visited before... gone without a trace I guess

Yeah, I was looking alphabetically under Z. But then again, the thread wasn't "Where's -Ziplock-?"

I remember him, his site was awesome, then when day it went down for no reason and I've never seen it since. It was an awesome site too. Its also because of his site that I became interested in normal speedruns and TAS's

I remember ziplock, I never discussed much with him, but he seemed like a nice guy. Then again, most guys are nice. Unless he comes back here and tells us, or his will specifies all websites that obituaries should be posted to (does yours?), I think we will never know.

Sure I remember him... but I do wonder, how someone as enthusiastic and active just stop visiting all of a sudden... it does make you think something bad happened (as suggested in the other thread). Lets hope not.

It's not you who won. It's me and Genisto. From ~300$ he owes me, I only received ~100$.

Yes, he owes me 200$. Maybe he has been killed by italian mafia for owing them too much money. Or he got an accident. Maybe he is in jail...

In addition to ziplock, there's been a number of players vanishing including: Bob Whoops, michael flatley, Sleepz, Frenom, VIPer7, Terimikasah, Michael Fried and Lezard to name a few... NOTE: I have not verified if any of them have been active anywhere else.

bobwhoops hangs out in IRC. I'm guessing that college is making him too busy to be our friend :( Sleepz is still around at SDA. Ever since the falling out after Phil taking the SMB2 publish and TSA childishly refusing to let Sleepz take the LoZ speedrun record, he probably got tired of trying. As for the rest, I'm going to assume that:
  • michael flatley is too busy having a job and being a newlywed to pick up where JXQ left off, especially since JXQ is already planning to improve what was already improved upon from flatley.
  • Frenom died in a hideous plane crash whilst in the middle of a Genesis Aliens run.
  • Viper7 is still around, but not active enough to post.
  • Teri probably moved on to/back to a Japanese TAS group, since the language barrier doesn't hold him back out there.
  • M_Fried was eaten by a roving pack of GameFAQ boardmembers after hearing his full name and rampaging against the FCVE'er.
  • Lezard is probably busy running, or not running, his site and starting his own legal consultation company.
Seriously, though, people leave all the time. That is the nature of message boards.

Well, regarding Michael Flatley, this was a part of his answer to my mail I wrote him a couple of days ago.
I apologize to have left the scene so suddenly, I have not played a single console/computer/emulator game since I got married nearly a year ago. I hope to someday start this hobby again but right now my focus is elsewhere :O/
