Sorry for the triple post, but here's something very cool: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/38977554/lv1immortal2deaths.gmv Level 1 now has two deaths and is many hundred frames faster that way. When you die, you respawn at the "previous room". This can be abused to get past some locked doors etc. You can die 2 times in each level, if you want/need to. This is great news, because all the different death animations are one of the features that make this game special in the first place. The only thing that baffles me now is the menus! I can't understand how they work! Sometimes they just work faster than other times without any logical reason! I've never seen anything like this before.

Ok, now I found a serious improvement: It's possible to avoid fighting the giant spider by using the amulet when the spider shoots the web. It's a minor programming error. There may be other places too where the amulet can be used as a tool for sequence breaking. It should be tested everywhere and that's what I'm gonna do now. I really enjoy this game, because it's so stupid and funny. Anyone wanna join me destroying this game? I probably can't record a full movie myself. ---------------- Edit: Ok, the game can be improved by at least a minute. The most significant discovery is that when you hold the amulet, the enemies walk through you. Here are the main improvements I've found: Level 1 - Nothing new. Level 2 - Don't take the elven sword. - Use the charm spell more effectively. Only the first guard needs to be killed. - Avoid the fight in the spore room: Just use the spores and run away. - Use the amulet to bypass the remaining guard. (The spore room is the hardest part. Rest of the game should be easy.) Level 3 - Don't take the ritual knife - use amulet instead. Level 4 - Bypass the troll to avoid a fight (you don't even need to use the amulet) Level 5 - When you are shrinked, let the trolls smash you to quickly respawn in normal size. (Using death as a shortcut!) - Don't take the water (because you don't have to cure yourself). - In the next room, you don't need to kill both of the birds (because only one of them has the key). Level 6 - Avoid the spider by using the amulet! Level 7 - It may be slower to kill the guy with the normal sword, but since this is the only fight in the whole movie, getting the elven sword in level 2 would probably waste more time. - Maybe the water part can be done faster by hitting the walls for speed? Level 8 - Nothing new. I think I have the best possible route on my mind now. If someone wants to, I can give instructions room by room.

The current Immortal run can be improved by ~30 seconds. The largest improvement is avoiding the fight in the room where you use the spores. Minor optimization in movement is possible too: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1114679996/immortaltest.gmv I tested it briefly and saved more than a second in the first 30 seconds of gameplay, but the lag and menus behave strangely, so it's probably not perfect. If someone is going to do it, I'm here to help. --- Edit: I thought giving water to the goblin king was not necessary, but it actually is...

I actually logged out from the messenger just to watch this without getting interrupted by some girls. So yeah, it's a good TAS!

Also, I considered saying "Guybrush and AKA, you're both being <a negative descriptive word here in a plural>, shut up", but I couldn't figure out how to say that properly.
How about this: "Guybrush and AKA, you're both being off-topics, shut up!"

Wow! So you're gonna do it yourself! But hey, don't get too excited about the explosives, I'm not sure if it's possible to go all the way through the walls with them. I've only managed to almost do it.

I know the game, but it's quite hard, so I've never actually completed it. Anyway, I discovered that you can use explosives (grenades) to get inside some solid barriers and almost get through them. If it worked, it might allow skipping some switches. I also believe dying would save time when planned correctly. Oh, it seems that I have nothing else to say about it.

I however don't think it should be named anything like "ListOfIdeas"
But it shouldn't be called anything like "Aqfaq" either. :) I can't think of a better place for the Genesis list than ListOfIdeas/Genesis. I would like to move it there for now, if it's ok. --- Edit: Oh, by the way, I think this line only clutters the ListOfIdeas page: "If a title is stricken through, the movie is submitted and is ready to be exempted from this list in case the movie is published." It serves no purpose most of the time.

For me, it got better after 20 minutes. It's a long movie, but there was some nice stuff going on here and there. Some of the bosses are quite funny too.

I'm surprised how boring this game actually is. Luckily, JXQ has the ability to turn this kind of stuff into something funny. One of the YES-votes is mine.

What do you think about the Genesis Game List: http://tasvideos.org/Aqfaq.html Has it been useful to anyone? Should it be moved to its own page (ListOfIdeas/Genesis for example) instead of being on my personal user page? (I have PMed Bisqwit about this a few days ago, but he has not read the message yet.)

It was a TAS movie, wasn't it?

Oh, good, I should have watched the WIP before asking. Anyway, I watched it now and it made me smile. The level layout manipulation and luck manipulation look good. Good luck for the rest of it!

Are you going to use the programming error (by equipping two short bows) to gain huge defense points?

You know you've played too much with your old cellphone pinball game, when you find a useless collision bug in it, learn to abuse it in a controlled manner and keep doing it whenever possible hoping that some unusual benefit might occur someday. The game in question is called "Bumper" and the bug involves nudging the table at correct times to make the ball slip outside the screen. By the way, my high-scores for the two default tables ("Käärmeet" [Snakes] and "Golfkenttä" [Golf Course]) are: Käärmeet: 205600 Golfkenttä: 249400

Hello Flygon! I believe nobody has recorded any movies of this game yet. Generally, autoscrollers are not good games for TASing and Battle Squadron feels somehow slow (at least in the beginning). However, this game allows 2 players to play simultaneously, which might be interesting to see. Also, interestingly, difficulty is set by changing the speed of enemy bullets (this should be set to the maximum value: 400). Who knows, the 2 player mode might be cool, if it's done well. You might want to see examples of other autoscroller movies (like Gradius) to get ideas for your attempt. I have not played the game much myself, so I can't give any detailed hints, but it seems that the game has some alternative route possibilities(?), so the fastest and shortest (or maybe the most interesting/entertaining?) routes should be used. By the way, your signature is nice, but the size (and image-like nature) of it is against the rules here. :) --- Edit: Heh, they use foreground elements to hide enemies and have some backgrounds colored to correspond enemy projectiles. Quite nasty gameplay development...

This game is very easy to follow even though I have never played the game. The graphics are crystal clear and the different objects are easily distinguished from the background. The character speed is also ideal, because it's fast enough to allow cool movements, but not too fast for the eye. The movie is very fun to watch. This version also looks quite perfectly played.

I have never heard of the game, but the wikipedia article seems to have a link to a Japanese walkthrough.

I think it actually is possible to make one slide there, if you jump down at the first possible frame, but then you need to kill the guard with apples or take damage. Maybe. At that same location, could you throw the snake with apples to make it die faster? It seems that you slow down there for a moment, because the sword is slow. Maybe. I'm not 100% sure about these things and the movie looks good in my opinion.

For me personally, Ace of Aces would be cool to see, because I know the game quite well (from the C64 era). It would not be the most entertaining video, but technically challenging and interesting. And short.
