the right looks cooler, while the left looks better quality wise. I vote Left. I believe once in my lifetime i owned the stratagy guide for this. I'm gonna dig that up to help me remeber locations of everything. Saving even 1 backtrack is a big deal in this game. Also good to know you can manipulate HS's. 1-2 seconds can probly be shaved off of every kill to open the door. and their are alot of those doors.

Ahh, one of my Favorite n64 games. I've beaten this game multiple times. Its long, repetious, and hard, but well worth the time and effort. I imagine a first TAS could get this game to around 3:40. The SDA run is good but shows exaclty why a TAS would be great of this. Analogs are hard to perfect real time. 28 seconds ahead of the SDA run is awsome. I'm gonna have to rom this to help with the run as much as i can. As for encoding AVI's, if someone can link me a good FAQ on how to do it, i can devote my machine to doing it. Hosting would also be an issue for myself.

i'm an american so i've had my wii longer than EU's, but you got Wii Play at launch. How is it? worth the purchase? Same line as wii sports? Oh and about 25 hours into TP, i've decided its the greatest Zelda ever. OOT has nothing on this. As for standing up, i can play all of wii sports sitting. I prefer to stand for bowling golf and tennis, since i actualy play them IRL. The first time i threw bowling, i lined up the exact same i would IRL, bowled in the same fashion, and the ball did the exact same thing it would irl. My hands used to cramp playing PS2 or the likes for hours on end. No longer. As FODA said, its alot easier to relax and play most games than on any other console. Madden is harder. So is Red Steel. But wiimote only games are definatly fun and easy to play. As for using the GC or Classic controllers, some games still are being designed to use them, such as SuperSmash Bro's Brawl will us those exclusivly. Other games such as SNK's Metal Slug Anthology will have options for both. Depends on the developer. What Games did EU's VC launch with?

Sounds like an urban legand to me.
I lived in the worst dorm in the college i went to. Every Saturday @ 2am exactly the alarm would be pulled. They used the paint after about 2 months to catch the guys. (was about 4 people from another dorm doing it)

I really thought I remember reading in some official book, like a Nintendo strategy guide, or maybe even the instruction booklet, that a Link to the Past happened before Zelda 1 and 2. This split timeline theory is retarded, by the way.
i was working on my own timeline theory for zelda before i played TP. Tp threw my timeline outta whack. While i'll agree that minish cap is definatly a prequal of sorts, i dont agree with alot else of their theory. Just because the sacred realm and such was mentioned first in OOT, doesnt make it the first game of that idea.

if you hate the madden games, get your hands on 07 for the wii. You'll know the exact reason why EA is going crazy over the wii. I'm ashamed to say i played about 25 hours of Madden before even opening TP. Wii Sports is like Mario (sport title) .5 You see all the potential of those games almost instantly. Cannot wait for Super Swing Golf. Absolutly cannot wait for Mario Tennis 3. Cannot wait for a good fps to actualy use the wiimote well.

Well, after watching so much TASes I usually take damage to save time, try to abuse glitches and progamming errors as much as I can and sometimes even use death as a shortcut Its awesome, my style of playing is completely different after and before the TASes :D
I've found that watching TAS allows me to be more careless. But, i also am a terrible player of most games. I usualy play so cautiously that its my downfall. After watching, for example Megaman Bosses, TAS' i find confidence in actualy what can be done, vs crouching in a corner waiting for a chance. I would have never beat mmz2 on GBA without the confidence MM TAS's transfered.

I gots me onez. I posted this in other forums as well. But you can enjoy the short reviews i give. Their are no storyline spoilers. .. and i gotta say wow. Its so intuative. I bought the 5 games that would best reflet the use of the wiimote and nunchuk. Red Steel (FPS) Exitetruck (arcade Racer) Super Monkey Ball ( party game ) Madden 07 (das footen ballen) Zelda (pwnsause) Red Steel was the first game i played. (wii sports was techincly first, but it was free with the console and more of a training tool/game then full fledged game.) It took all of 5 minutes to get used to actualy aiming the wiimote at the screen, and about a whole level to get used to actualy aiming. You can zoom by pushing the wiimote towards the TV also. I found myself really engaged in the game. While Red Steel isnt the best FPS i've played, its definalty a good example of how FPS will rock on the WII. Best part for me was they didnt have a prompt of how to reload for awhile in the "tutorial beining level" But i was like, "i'll spin the nunchuk" sure enough BAM it reloaded. Next, Excitetruck. Again, i found myself resorting to convention when trying to steer through the tutorials. But its a fun fast racer with alot to do stunt wise in it. Tilting the controller left right foward and back took about 10 minutes to get used to, and even then i sometimes found myself trying to steer with the D-pad (which is turbo, and my truck went KABOOM a few times) As for the actual console and its menus', point and click interfaces. Creating a Mii is fun and easy. I couldnt imagine doing it with a normal controller. Typing out names is also alot easier. Madden: The controls are awsome. Passing is instictive and running is even more so. Tackles are fun too. You can do 3 differnent strengths of tackles. Two involve "wiimotion" in which you thrust both Mote and Chuk forward. Add a button to it to get a "big hit". Both have a better chance of causing a fumble, pushing the Offence back, and even injury. (i broke the RB's hand with my 2nd big hit, and caused a fumble) It took about 2, 4min quarters to get used to offence, a full game before i got the hang on D. Monkey Ball: Monkey ball was made for a tilt controller. I'm sure when the Wii concept was announced, the monkey ball people went crazy. Its intuative, like almost all wiimote controls. Single player has 80 levels, plus bosses and bonus levels. They also have 50! minigames such as monkey race and such. Many of them use wiimotion exclusivly. Its worthy to note, that most games are Mote only, but there are some games witch require Chuks. I havent played them all yet, but the ones i've played all repsond pretty well. Seeing this game makes me urn for mario party 8 even more. ZELDA!!! I'm about 2 hours in, and the storyline did kick in for me. But the controls....they work. It took almost all that time to get used to the controls. Swinging the Mote activates sword slashes. Small flicks of the writst do it for me just fine. Z-targeting works just like it has for the past 3 games. Did i mention the game looks awsome? I wont spoil anything story -wise, but its definatly got me engaged in the story right from where it kicked off. I went to the Wii Shop Channel to get a VC game. Most the launch titles are old NES Games and a few good games. (altered beast, sonic, Mario 64) i noticed in each games decription it tells you what controllers you can use. (nes games can use the wiimote on it side, while N64 games require Cube or Vc controllers.) in this menu i confermined that each game that is VC controller compatable, is also GC controller compatable. Good for anyone who has 4 GC controllers. (although VC controllers are a measly 20 bucks and the cord for it plugs into the wiimote for a better cordless experience.) I bought the only good NES Game, Zelda, and beat the first dungeon. if i didnt know better i'd swear i was playing the NES. It even features the same lag spots as the original.

Gannon-banning is probably the single fucking stupidest thing I've ever read on the internet. It looks like TSA made it, so I'm not too surprised.
Its only to keep people right and from looking stupid talking about Zelda. GANNON-BANNED site was started up by TSA, although he really needs to update it some time soon. Dacicus wrote: What do you mean by line of descent? You think all the Links are in the same family? I don't think there's proof of that. The greatest evidence of this is off course WW. I think Link is actaully re-incarnated every time Ganon/Ganondorf strikes, then again I'm not sure of that because one random Link might be choosen by destiny. Ganon/Ganondorf can never win becuase if one part of the triforce is evil or good then the other ones will always gang up on the other one. Allthough it would be interesting to have an evil princess who teams up with Ganon/Ganondorf to see what happends, providing its nothing to do with Zelda or equivalant being corrupted by Ganon/Ganondorf.
The best argument is, that we name the "links" ourselves. Only Zelda 2 (i think?) gives link a default name, only names the save file. Other games your name is ingame. So your theory of re-incarnation may very well apply. "link" might just be a label for this hero, or the hero of time. However i remember reading something that linked all the games together. dunno where i read it.

I would think this wouldn't be too hard. Most likely the yolk would be crushed as well, but that wasn't expressed as a concern in your question.
you should try it.

You're going to have to wait a long time then, and yes, it is an impressive run whether or not you appreciate it. No, it is not perfect and it could be improved, but it's still very good. Honestly, though, a DS is sooo worth it. I got a DS lite, and I'm loving it. Kirby Canvas Curse (or Kirby Power Paintbrush if you live in Europe) is awesome. Mario Kart DS is awesome, though you could theoretically give it a miss. New Super Mario Bros. is very good, although it doesn't last very long (I easily collected all giant coins and then kinda lost interest and started to play other games instead). Yay... ! Also, I never got a GBA, so I have an entire library of old games I haven't played, ready for my DS. Exciting times for me, indeed.
quoted for truth, cause its the exact same for me on all counts, except i got a blue ds.

its ok to take damage if its to save time or is completely unavoidable, my suggestion is to look where damage might help in other lvls

I've actualy already done some of the more popular games onto 2 dvds (around 20 TAS's each, mostly nes and snes) Used nero's basic editor to add menus. If i can find them again, i'll tell you whats on them. At one time, i had all the TAS's dled on my compy. A new computer and a hd failure whiped them all. I was gonna take the time to re-dl but most are missing seeds, and i dont wanna bother encoding them myself, (i have no idea how to.) Good idea, i'd do it, alphabetaized, if i still had them all.

Wouldn't this run take something like 10 hours to complete, even with one powerhouse group and luck abuse?
yeah and even then you get the "bad" ending. This is gonna probly never be done cause of length and intrest, i'd love it, but i'll be long

L4ayer, aiming for fastest possible speed usually means aiming for perfection.
HAve to disagree, since some fastest routes take damage, die and so forth. Perfection would be fast, full completion, no death, no hit. Bottom line is, Guano worked hard on this TAS. He suffered through route changes, glitches, and alot of things that woulda made any other TASer quit. Is it Perfect? NO! N64 emulation and attacking is still an art in progress, and, the number of WIPS and published movies show that. Mario wasnt beaten in a day, it took years to get where its at. Of course, it can be improved. But every video on this site can be improved. That has been proven before and it will be proven again. BTW Great Job. I actualy am 1 outta 10 million people that dont like this game. Its definatly not on my top10 games, but i enjoyed seeing you skip the water temple. (THANK GOD) I look forward to a improvement and a Majora's run

One of my FAV 64 games, i would love to see it done. Primary optimizations would be lvling your body and arms/legs as fast as possible, and maybe manipulating the enemies always to hit you somewhere to take less damage. Its been while since i played this game, but i would probly be a 3.5+ run.

me, i love this game and would love to see a TAS of it. But, this would also probly be boring by some. Things to spice it up: Amazing shots from the rough Long Shots that are over OB Amazing shots from deep sand.

try dying and losing all your lives, closing the rom and then try the savestates. Or its possible the states save the sram, so if you load a no-medals state, you whipe the sram. <--- acts like he knows something

Hmm, that would probably cause a desync, wouldn't it?
i wasnt recording my playthroughs, however. It DOES seem like an isolated case. It only seems to occour when i load after dying and respawning. If i load a state anywhere else, it works just fine. It even has worked the same on other levels, (dying and spawning) and still having the proper lasers. On another note, is there any difference between opening a rom that is zip/rar ed? and on that isnt? i havent noticed a difference.
