An IPS-patched ROM with Worlds A-D enabled was one of the approved hacks before that rule was changed.

Hey, we already published not one, but TWO single track runs that don't even beat the game. Why not another?
I swear there was a line in one of the player guideline pages that "past mistakes are not a justification for repeating those mistakes," but damned if I can find it. I know I've seen people say it on the forums, though.
Hey, that gave me an idea. To prove that this isn't like other "New Game+" runs, why not hack the game into unlocking Characters, Modes, and Tracks WITHOUT having any Adventure data? That way, there's evidence to support the rejection/acceptance of the run.
Couldn't that just as easily be accomplished by deleting the Adventure file from the SRAM SL provided? Or does there HAVE to be Adventure data to maintain the unlocks?

That's easy enough to rectify. Either... * Make the goal "Does not use the D-Pad during gameplay." * Set up a Knuckles file in SRAM/a savestate.

Indeed that does happen. Might save a second or two of scrolling up to the X-Hunter base.

I think most ROM hacks would be covered under the banner of "total-conversion mods," such as The Nameless Mod for Deus Ex, as they fully convert one game into another. Most "mods" that are referred to as just "mods" do not make such drastic changes, although there are of course exceptions. As another aside, I don't know of any total conversions that replace files from the original game the way IPS patches replace bits of code in a ROM.

20,000 points seems an arbitrary goal. An idea that literally occurred to me five seconds ago is "Clears a level with no mushrooms in the field."

http://tasvideos.org/3417S.html Rejected for optimization concerns. Still an awesome watch, that notwithstanding.

My guess is that the hidden exit leads to a Switch Palace, as the next level included what looked like unfilled blocks, and he found a way to make it through without tripping that Switch Palace. Also, you should submit this. The TAS is excellent, and the hack looks WAY more polished than the first two Kaizos.

Um, can I ask how to make a TAS completing multiple games? I always wondered this when watching those.
I believe it goes something like this:
    1. Set your emulator of choice to run in the background and to accept background input. 2. After saving the settings, open as many instances of that emulator as you need. 3. Load one game into each instance. 4. Pause emulation in each instance. 5. Start recording a movie file in any instance. 6. Reset the instances where you did not record the movie, to sync them with the one that you did. 7. Unpause (or Frame Advance) and start TASing.

Something I've been wondering about: What does the "All Stages" branch show that the 100% branch does not?

That run only completes one stage of each, which is why it was rejected.

I stand corrected. Anyway, it would be nice to see more. (Especially games with more sync action than that latter pair.)
What about [1894] SNES Mega Man X & Mega Man X2 & Mega Man X3 "300%" by agwawaf in 43:51.02, which 100%s all three SNES Mega Man X games? Or [871] NES Mega Man 3, 4, 5 & 6 by Baxter & AngerFist in 39:06.92 And [1778] NES Super Mario Bros., 2, The Lost Levels & 3 by agwawaf in 10:39.75? Hell, we have a whole publication tag for it. http://tasvideos.org/Movies-C2020Y.html

No, his name is literally "Mega Man X." As for Samus being immune to the X, if the information on the Fusion Suit on the Metroid Wikia is correct, when Samus absorbed the core of an SA-X right before fighting the Omega Metroid as the Biologic Space Labs research station moved toward SR388, it restored her DNA to its' pre-X-infection state, which is why she was able to reclaim the Ice Beam function.

I think that's their point, yes. There are so many authors that the file name is extremely unwieldy.

I think the idea is that it's outdated and the goal is out of step with the site's goals now, so it obsoletes itself to remove it from the list of currently published movies.

My laptop is five or six years old (got it used) and I only have 80gb on my internal HDD, so space is always at a premium for me. ALSO: 1.3.0 runs the game at full speed without a movie, but only 45-50fps with a movie. Huh? EDIT: The sound also seems fine.

Let me try turning Rewind off, then. I think adelikat suggested that too, but Bizhawk also can't read Nach's JMA ROM compression, which means any ROM I want to play in Bizhawk I either have to uncompress with NSRT or redownload, which is a pain in the ass both ways, so I don't really use it. EDIT: Need to update Bizhawk too.

Sadly need to wait for an encode, as my computer can't power BizSNES to 60fps.

You guys were so close to being able to say "Fuck Cannons" too. But Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Wing Mario Over The Rainbow just wouldn't cooperate, huh? Oh well. Extreme Yes vote anyway.

Part of the point of the Moon tier is esoteric goals. I think we should re-judge the minimum-presses submissions with that in mind. I remember enjoying both this one and the SMB1 submission.

I'd test it with a bsnes-core emulator (lsnes or BizHawk) and see what it does. If it works in either of those, then it's probably valid enough to be worth a submission.
