Emulator version used: v1.7.2+ v22 When I save the game as normal, then restart and try to load my game, I receive the message "The save file is corrupted. The previous data will be loaded." This has never been a problem, as the "previous data" has always been the data I just saved. But when the game saves after beating the Elite 4 and Champion and I try to load it, it says that the "data has been deleted due to corruption," and the save data is gone. Emerald 386 requires Flash 128k save type, which I forgot to set until looking for a solution to this problem. (I had been relying on savestates.) I figured setting it, then allowing the endgame save to happen would fix the problem; it did not. I also tried loading an Emerald 386 savestate in an unhacked Emerald ROM to generate save data; the state loaded without incident, and the data saved without incident, but upon resetting the emulator, the data was gone with the same message as in Emerald 386. Any idea why this might be occurring? I haven't yet tried using a mainline version of VBA, though.

Looks good, but I think a 100% collection run would be even cooler.

I remember making it as far as Tatooine, and getting stuck on a series of jumps outside Mos Espa. Also waiting on an encode.

In what way does it not work? I used it fairly extensively during some work on Super Mario World: The Second Reality Project Reloaded, and it worked just fine for me.

You would be better off asking at the SNES9X forums; we use upgraded versions of v1.43 and v1.51 here, not v1.52.

Apparently, it' s possible to do the green gate glitch from a dead stop. Link to video I'm tentatively excited about the possibilities of this; if it works the way it looks like it works, then the dream of entering Maridia via the escape route may finally become reality. Topic on GameFAQs I got the video from: hyperlinked to avoid page stretching.

Suggestion for your next challenge: timed score attack on a level of Gunstar Heroes. Expert difficulty, obviously.

Hi, FVDTsuyosa. I would like to point out that there is currently no "warpless" branch for publication of FDS SMB2J. If you want to TAS this game, you should probably work with the "Lost Levels" version in Super Mario All-Stars. The current publication for that is here.
In addition to this, I would also suggest that you use Luigi instead of Mario, as there is no published Luigi Warpless run.

It looked like you did at around frame 2090, but after watching in frame advance, it also looks like you hit as late as possible and jumped back the other way immediately. My mistake.

I don't have the full Stage 3 file anymore, due to doing some work on it, having desync trouble, and needed to back up to fix the desyncs; the one I have stops right before the bridge collapses after the morph point. http://www.mediafire.com/?czlj3rfi4ftaz0z EDIT: Watched your Stage 3 WIP. Looking good. A few criticisms, though. 1. Unless there are areas in Stages 4 and 5 where you foresee taking damage to save time, I think it would look better if you sacrificed a bit of time to avoid needing to take damage in Stage 3. Doing it in only one area is just silly, IMO. 2. It looks like you could benefit from some kick-to-backflips in the early part of the stage, before the morph point. (How do you pull that off unmorphed, anyway? I tried it and couldn't figure it out.)

INFPs feel internal turmoil when they find themselves in situations in which there is conflict between their inner code of ethics and their relationships with others. They feel caught between pleasing others and maintaining their own integrity. Their natural tendency to identify with others, compounded with their self-sacrificial dispositions, tends to leave them confused as to who they really are. Their quiet personalities further feeds their feelings of depersonalization. The INFP's quest for self-identity then seems even more alluring — but increasingly impossible to attain. As with all NFs, the INFP will feel lost and perplexed at stressful times. As stress builds, INFPs become disconnected from their own personality and perceived place in life. They will lose sight of who they are in relation to time and place. They may not make basic observations, while instead they will focus on the more abstract and symbolic meanings of a particular interaction. This can sometimes baffle those who expect more direct communication and a fairly concrete relationship. Careers This lists represent careers and jobs people of your type tend to enjoy doing. The job requirements are similar to the personality tendencies of your personality type. It is important to remember that this is not a list of all the jobs possible. And it is very important to remember that people can, and frequently do, fill jobs that are dissimilar to their personality... this happens all the time...and sometimes works out quite well. information-graphics...designer college professor researcher legal mediator social worker holistic health...practitioner occupational therapist diversity manager human resource...development specialist employment development...specialist minister/priest/rabbi missionary psychologist writer: poet/novelist journalist editor/art director organizational development...specialist
Eerily accurate to me.

The run, while clearly good in a technical sense, just didn't do it for me in an entertainment sense. I'm really not sure why; pinball has always been a lot of fun for me. I guess I just don't care to WATCH it as much as DO it. Meh vote. My two cents on the endpoint: The ending is extremely abrupt. Too much so, I think. What if, after successfully activating the android, you get a standard Game Over instead of (I think) skipping your other two balls, and also slowing the pace down so we can see that you're done?

Very nicely done. Using a jumpkick to keep the Stage 2 boss stunned long enough to deliver the last hit of a combo was a great idea; I had no idea you could deliver three hits, a jump, and then finish the combo. Using your bomb before he started flickering around the area was also a good idea. This might just be me being arrogant, but I think my WIPs had a bit more entertainment value, because I was using the kick-to-backflip a lot, and IMO it looked cooler. Unless I missed something, you used it once, in Stage 1 before the morphing point.

For those not aware, these two hacks are fairly simple; they're modifications of Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon FireRed that allow you to catch all 386 Pokemon (from the 3rd generation) without trading. Until we have a version of VBA-RR that supports link play, I think these are the best bet for "catch 'em all" runs. Pokemon Emerald 386. Patch to Pokemon - Emerald Version (USA, Europe).gba with CRC32 1F1C08FB Pokemon FireRed 386. Patch to Pokemon - Fire Red Version (USA).gba with CRC32 DD88761C I don't have the patience for a run like this, but I figured one of you guys might.

I think that's from using the TAS Input Plugin.

It is not the renderer. Can you check to see if the download hasn't been corrupted? I tried downloading the file just in case and it is an exact match to the one I had, and it synchs perfectly -- even swapping the renderer.
I have the same problem when running a lua script that disables super sonic music and hyper sonic flashes. I believe one of these causes a desync.
That was it, thanks. I hadn't considered it because it hasn't caused any other S3&K movies to desync.

@marzojr: The MD5 checksum matches. Is there anything in Gens 11b that causes non-deterministic behavior?

Honestly, I had forgotten that most emulator movie files support embedding the requisite SRAM or savestate; I just got my computer back yesterday (after 5 months) so I'm a bit rusty.

I was reading the submission thread for marzojr's S3&K NG+ run, and saw a post by mklip2001 about linking to the anchor savestates marzojr had used for the run in the publication, and there was a TODO note about providing a more permanent solution than Mediafire links to the savestates. My question is, how hard would it be to update the submission uploader and/or the movie publisher to allow for multiple files to be uploaded, preferably to a single ZIP file? If that were possible, mirrors for savestates or SRAM for movies anchored from one of them would be unnecessary. This would also be handy for LUA subtitles and the like.

So far, we have...
  • Sonic and Tails any%
  • Sonic 100%
  • Sonic and Tails NG+
  • Knuckles 100%
I don't think it's oversaturated yet, considering that each run brings something unique to the table.

I do that often, and in fact have argued that said movie should be removed from the S3&K obsoletion chain and republished because the movies that obsoleted it are not low-glitch.

That doesn't count because all the ROMs the movie file completes are just different dumps of the same game.

I disagree with this version obsoleting the 100%, because that also doubles as a low-glitch run because it does not abuse the horizontal underflow glitch; this run does. Waiting on an encode of the latest update to watch.

Okay, re-encoding just the audio got me the video running way ahead of it, but downloading the Archive.org streaming MP4 seems to have worked. Will watch when I get home.
