Great! Now if we can just get a 100% TAS...
About that... This is what I was referencing when I said Ringrush had already done a tool-assisted run of 101% before this TAS. Great, albeit a little long, watch. I was crying laughing at the awesomeness of certain segments when this was originally revealed. Sorry for straying off topic a bit.

As for the decision to start from a fresh cart, I'm fine with it. I just have a question for the DK64 guys here: Is the RTA route that uses dirty SRAM solely based on using intended unlockable features, that - in typical Rare-fashion - stay on the cart forever?
Short answer: yes. Long answer: Collecting a crown unlocks multiplayer. This is sometimes used in RTA, although not in the world record run. Collecting 2 fairies unlocks rewatching cutscenes, which are all unlocked independently based on what content you've discovered in the game (e.g. Japes intro is unlocked the first time you enter Jungle Japes). This is used in RTA. Collecting 6 unlocks minigames, although you also need extra requirements (e.g. Rambi for Rambi Arena like in this TAS). Collecting 10 fairies unlocks boss fights that you've already beaten (RTA runs use the Factory boss in the mystery menu to clear the cutscene during MMM, which is a luxury this TAS couldn't afford). Collecting 15 fairies unlocks Krusha for multiplayer. Finally, collecting 20 fairies completes the Mystery menu with cheats (infinite oranges, infinite ammo, etc.). All of these unlocks stay forever on your cart and cannot be erased unless you use external tools. Note that using external tools is the only way to copy and load save files, as the game doesn't let you do that. As for the run, this is a big yes from me. A ton of work was put into this and it shows: the route is very creative and the optimization is thorough. Ringrush TASed (albeit low-optimization) 101% of this game when the emulation was still wonky, so he had a lot more experience working with this game than most first-edition TASes.

That is not an emulation issue, it's just the game being the most laggy N64 game out there.

I tried on BizHawk today and it looks like the playback does not desync when changing weapons. However, there is still an insane input delay that makes TASing this extremely frustrating (press input, fast forward 10 frames, go back, correct input, etc.). Everything has to be input many frames beforehand.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) Port of Adia, found by ear and arranged for piano. https://soundcloud.com/bismuth9/port-of-adia Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) Windy, recorded parts separately and put together because I used a metronome with a fixed 170 tempo. https://soundcloud.com/bismuth9/conkers-bad-fur-day-windy

He definitely is, though I think it's mostly for notes out of his register.

You found this run entertaining enough to be qualified for the moon tier just because there's no existing Smurfs SNES run?
If this was to be a separate category with "pacifist, no damage" because another run of the smurfs would have existed, it wouldn't be the same thing, and I would have voted no. This is pretty much the only TAS of the smurfs, so if one was to seek for a TAS of The Smurfs on this site, at least we would have something good to offer. Who talked about moon tier? Isn't that like some "distinction" or something, I mean, I don't know exactly all the tiers and their implications on this site but I'm pretty sure you're being uselessly sarcastic.

I don't particularly like most platformers in terms of TAS entertainment, and this game was not an exception. The movement is so ample, the hitboxes are enormous, therefore the resulting gameplay is not particularly impressive. I am also not quite sure the restrictions were necessary, but I do think Pacifist does add something to the run. That being said, there is no run of The Smurfs on the site, so I would rather say yes than no. Bravo Coconou pour ton TAS!

J'ai regardé les 20 premières minutes, excellent! C'est quand même drôle de t'entendre patiner un peu pour pas tout dire en anglais :P

In my opinion the most absolute destruction of a game ever done. Though the total control TAS of Pokémon comes close.

Sorry guys, a TAS of Turok 2 is not gonna happen. I tried a few times and every time it desyncs when I try to change weapons (that is, at the very beginning when blowing up the first barrel), it just does not change weapons in the playback. Also the lag is so terrible there are 10-14 VIs in between the input and the reaction.

I wish you could've done the PC version! But if DOS games can be done, why not the DOS version of KQ5?

when I load different savestates, when I quit and come back to it, whenever I do something I mess everything up all the time lol, I'm not used to TASing and I never got much into it because I always mess everything up in no time

The problem I get a lot when I tas is that I somehow always mess up the movie and realize way too late that it stopped recording a long time ago... yesterday I had a bit of stuff up to the first power cell and then I realized everything since the beginning of port of adia was not recording. Do I suck at TASing? yes.

iirc hourglass does not support mouse input, so the pc port is out of the question. I prefer the pc version because it has much less lag and fog, and is general smoother to play. I'm starting a TAS today, so far I've done only the menu navigation, so I am now at the very beginning of Port of Adia. I've already done 4700 input frames! :D also how do you prevent desyncs? is there any way out of if it desyncs your work is all scrapped?

I was thinking of TASing this game eventually. I too am a runner of the PC port, I'm more single-segment/real time oriented. Here's a few runs I've made: Port of Adia 12:27.00 (WR) Death Marshes 10:47.63 River of Souls 17:47.02 (WR) First 3 missions 44:44.17 (WR) So what is the Mupen-status on this? Is it TASable, does anyone know? I think it would be slower than the PC version though, because of insane lag and less efficient water boosting. My best time on Port of Adia is about 25 minutes on PJ64 with a keyboard, whereas my record (which is also WR) on PC is 12:27.00. The quality of the runs isn't comparable but I know for a fact that on an N64, 12 minutes is not possible. It's a very sad thing that the PC port is not TASable because I would do it!
