I've been completely ignoring the votes of this movie so far. I need to judge it by watching it, which I haven't done yet for reasons that needn't be elaborated (but if I had no intention in doing so, I'd reject this right away).

Here's a few then. However, Zurreco's joke still evades me.

Sorry. Ps: Having submitted movies / playing games has nothing to do with it.

Yep. Very compressed at that. Like, instead of "search input for occurances of 't' and replace them with 'u'", you say "s/t/u/g" or "tr/t/u".

You can always throw ideas without writing any code, but the ideas should be reasonable and implementable at least.

There is a nice shortcut technique in the Chargeman stage. It occured accidentally, and its cause was very difficult to pinpoint. Fortunately, the Master Ninja Finalfighter solved the riddle in no time. https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/chargemantrain.avi (1 MB) https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/chargemantrain.fcm (80 kB) http://www.yuko2ch.net/rockman/chargeman2nd2.mpg (600 kB) When riding the train top (possibly other locations in the game as well, possibly MM4 as well), when Megaman gets damage, he can steer to the left or right during the "ouch" pose. A minimal but existing amount. To perform the trick: - Take damage at least once while sliding. Steer right while in the ouch pose. - Play the rest in whatever way you want, but don't let the screen scroll to the left. - Jump or fall to the pit, and instead of the screen blanking like it normally does, it will scroll and Megaman will be inside a wall. There is a previous location in the game where the trick could be very useful, but we haven't been able to find a way to do it there. The same technique has no effect there. Further hypothesis: The game probably has a condition: "If scrolling down when the screen is number X, lock Megaman's control, blank the palette and scroll and replace Megaman and change palette". Taking damage and steering somehow skews off the screen number so that the rule doesn't match, and it becomes a normal down-scrolling event instead (no palette changes, no Megaman relocation). But if you walk to the left and back to the right, the screen number is corrected.

That's why I said "call it a fine line [if you wish]". Rules like these are often arbitrary and have to be decided on case-by-case basis. For Mega Man 3, the case is that second controller tricks are not allowed.

Doesn't seem to rhyme. But I'll consider this idea.

The second controller working the way it does is not a coincidence. It is a crafted feature for the game debuggers. Using that feature makes it quite a different game. Call it a fine line, but I don't allow features like that be used in speedruns. Glitches, like Megaman poking his head into a ceiling when his height suddenly changes when getting damage and then consequently zipping through the wall, are ok.

How do you get Rush to disappear like that? I don't see it listed on the Megaman tricks page.
By attempting to switch weapons while sliding.

I think IdeaMagnate is confusing Protoman's own shots for Vatchern's shots. Protoman has no problem eating shots at 30 Hz rate.

I'll answer two things before anyone asks. - I replaced the torrent file after publishing it. (The first publication had a typo in filename.) The old torrent won't work anymore. - This movie obsoletes two old movies. This is because the old, warps-using movie, could still be improved, and the author of that movie was reluctant in making it in the first place. I agree. There is no need for a warps-version of this movie.

0902#nesvideos.Zurreco why does the new Snake Rattle n Roll movie obsolete both the warp and nonwarp old versions? 0906#nesvideos.Nrg because a warp movie is pointless 0906#nesvideos.Nrg it's just "here's how you get the warp" and all the other levels are the same

Shouldn't this movie have both a 1- and 2-player version, a la battletoads?
I won't try to defend Battletoads, but the author of the previous Waiwai submission gave permission to obsolete his movie with this movie, and I agree: - This is faster and more entertaining (more maneuvers) - A singleplayer movie doesn't add any extra value that should stand on its own - Twoplayer movies are harder to make

I enjoyed the original "full amazing" run, but I didn't enjoy the cheating one enough to justify the use of the cheats.

Refused. Reason: It decreases the worth of your movie. It's no longer the same game. Especially because of "take less time to run fast". Ps:
