according to this, sweden has most atheists: http://www.adherents.com/largecom/com_atheist.html
Quite possibly. But 85% atheists does not imply that the percentage of christians is smaller than in a country with 99% hindus.

Have you (or would you) every consider/ed changing the design of the site, particularly the palette? As far as I know, the non-forum part of the site has always had the same grayish design.
I've invited redesign attempts for the main site but none have come except for some structural changes (thanks Tub / which are still pending implementation though). As for forums, I haven't had plans to change it for at least two years.

Merging the "frame advance 'hangover'" topic to the "you have been ___ing too long when ___" thread.

Ah, sorry; I misunderstood.

I was just wondering what you believed the ciriteria for "true born-again christians" were, since you said they were "by the definitions of Bible itself" but in my experience they're set by creeds and churches which are extra-Biblical tradition.
As per Romans 10:9-10. I count baptism as part of the "mouth confession" in that passage. It is a symbolic gesture, and a public confession of the faith, signifying the turning point, but what saves is neither the water as a substance nor the act in which it is applied.

(not intending to begin an argument) By which I suppose you mean baptism?
Does your word "which" bind to "definitions" or "them"? If "definitions", then: baptism, anglican, pentecostel, methodist, episcopal, inclusively.

i see.
Officially speaking, christians are not that rare in the country where nfq comes from. However, as a matter of truth, nfq's assessment is probably quite correct. As an example, in Finland, around 84% of the country's population are members of the state church (Evangelical Lutheran), but a majority of those only have vague beliefs (such as "maybe there's some God, but Jesus? Give me a break") or are completely agnostic or even atheists. They are members only because of tradition, and to be allowed to have church weddings. Only a tiny fraction of them are true born-again christians by the definitions of Bible itself. (Ironically, many of those christians choose to not be part of the state church because they see it as corrupted.)

Bisqwit, How come some runs which are accepted a month/months ago still aren't posted? Example: Shining Force. Too little time to upload? Not enough space?
It is a FAQ on this site. Search for previous answers. Shortly: Encoding is a hobby.

What's up with NesVideoAgent now? It doesn't seem to be reporting any posts or movie updates like usual. It's only doing non-site-related duties on IRC.
As NesVideoAgent did not report your posting, I did not notice it until right now. I restored NesVideoAgent's posting feature as soon as I noticed that it was missing ― which was apparently about 22 hours after your post.

Speedrunning is more and more acknowledged by the people who are creating games. Highscores and fastest times have always been there, but now they seem to realize that it's even more interesting (to other people) how how this highscore/fastest time is made. Super Smash Bros: Brawl for instance has options to record your break the targets attempt and send it to friends... Do you think that this trend will continue, so that eventually slowdown and rerecords options will be added inside the games, so competitive TASing is possible for everyone, just like competitive speedrunning (and setting records non tool-assisted) is now?
I'd like to see that as an option. However, I don't see a feasible way to market such features (considering the difficulties explaining what it does and what can be accomplished with it), and such, I don't see how a gaming company would spend resources developing such features, in today's profit-profit-profit culture. Also, it is technically difficult to implement enjoyably in today's games, considering that the save/load operations often take many seconds each to perform.

<Ob. Off-topic> No, it's power-off. Reset button would imply a new fresh start. I say procreation is the reset button. It allows the offspring to start from scratch without the burden of accumulated illnesses, learned misconceptions, traumas etc. gained by the parents (with certain exceptions though). It is the renewal. Suicide is an erase without backup.

I'll start with: Unusual application of the NES 'Zapper' gun Two men, 18 and 20, robbed a gas station in Kentucky and acquired $100 after threating the clerk with a Zapper light gun. Only in the court the clerks found out the gun was harmless. The robbers earned a 10 years sentence each for their Duck Hunt gaming session. Source: http://www.v2.fi/uutiset/pelit/1385/

kbxcomix, Four out of your five posts have been off-topic, and four out of your five posts have started a new thread. It does not contribute in a positive way. I suggest you change your habits. The off-topic forum is for ways for established community members to occasionally talk about things off-topic, but it is not a purpose by itself. You seem to focus primarily on off-topic. You should do that somewhere else. You are welcome to post things topical to TASvideos -- preferably by replying in existing threads where applicable (though creating new threads is ok if there's no existing thread about the same topic). I'm locking this thread to discourage newbies' focusing on off-topic, hoping to encourage them to focus on topic instead.

Do speedruns have to be absolutely perfect on here? If no other run of a game is up, and someone makes a run that isnt perfectly fast, but entertaining, will that run be rejected?
We tend to judge them on effort and appearance basis. If it looks good, we favor it. If there are mistakes, we judge the effort needed to fix them, and if the effort would be too high (for an experienced TASer), we let it slip.

I don't know the memory bus speed of NES, but the master clock in NES actually runs at 21.48 MHz (NTSC) or 26.6 MHz (PAL). The CPU speed is derived by dividing that by 12 (NTSC) or 15 (PAL), and the PPU clock is derived by dividing by 4 (NTSC).

That was pretty entertaining, but the score tallying took way too much time in my opinion. I would personally prefer to watch an .avi of this run with the score tallying edited out, if that's possible.
As already indicated I'm* now in process of making a TAS that eliminates the excess score tallying by utilizing shots that don't deposit any balls into pockets. Such shots reset the bonus multiplier. They also have an opportunity to relayout the board such that the next shot can be more effective. *)Or rather, a computer of mine is.

The principle is the same, albeit much more restricted: Once the filesystem is created, it is not modified anymore. This allows to use an order of magnitude heavier compression than on a live-update filesystem, bringing 2500 MB of data down to 200 MB instead of 1000 MB. (When the data is suitable.)

Generally speaking, no. However, exceptions exist. For example, a police is allowed to speed to catch and fine someone who speeds. To set things right, sometimes one needs to go the same path as the offender.

Fabian, please bring your disagreements into either 1) private message with the moderator you're disagreeing with or 2) a dedicated discussion about it, instead of attacking and ridiculing the moderator in various completely unrelated discussions. Also, you're the one who started publicly attacking the concerned person in an unrelated thread, and hence the one who is out of line.

No, the Lunar Ball bot, although it saturates the CPU, is very easy on RAM use and does not cause a resource congestion of any noticeable kind. The slowness has been caused by another program that eats 250% of the available RAM, causing constant swapping that grinds down performance to its minimum even though the swap is striped across three HDDs. That another program is mkcromfs which is currently processing a 96 gigabyte filesystem, in hopes of bringing it down to around 9 gigabytes after it's done in hopefully another week.
