Okay, a walk then. A Diablo 1 3-player ironman walk. It would be many hours long, but with audio commentary, switching between the players' viewpoints, etc, I would be all over it.

Importing won't do much good since NTSC game discs don't work in PAL systems. (at least not by default) This region stuff sure is a bitch.

Are you sure Vanilla Dome 1 can't be completed faster? I mean the part where you have to stop to flip those boxes. Couldn't you pick up a shell, throw it at the box, kill the shell as it returns, and then duck through the open spot that the shell just created? I haven't tried it but it seems like it would be possible. It might be worth looking into. I guess there's a good chance you already tried this since it seems so obvious but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Anyway, great job so far, I hope you have the persistence to finish the run. It'll be one of the best ever.

How about a Diablo 1 run? For example a 3-player ironman run through normal mode. That is extremely difficult to do, and I would love to watch that. Maybe with audio commentary by the players. That would be awesome. The "ironman" part means you can never ever go to town after going into the dungeon.

I think DivX I think is also owned by someone. That's why people are starting to use Xvid now. The song "happy birthday" is owned by some company that demands royalties every time you hear it on TV or in a movie. Yeah, it's crazy isn't it.

By "a run", do you mean a good run, or would an extremely crappy 30 hour long one suffice? I think it'll be maybe a month, maybe two, before there's a half decent run (for its time). Then it'll just keep getting better and better (like MP1). Remember, the run has to be planned (it takes time to find tricks and discover the quirks of the game), and THEN it has to be executed, usually repeating segments over and over until one of them is good enough. This can easily take weeks, even months.

If there was a Metroid movie, my bet would be on "suck". Sadly, I've heard there are some plans of making one. :(

That's strange... I was just playing this game yesterday after not having played it for many years. And now this thread pops up. And no, the game is so bad it's almost funny. A timeattack would be extremely boring indeed.

I played that game, and was never able to complete a single level beyond the first one. Yeah, I sucked...

On a semi-related note; here's what you get if you translate various Queen songs into Japanese. It's a really hilarious MP3 file (2.7 MB): http://www.nemendur.ru.is/bjornsa01/QueenJapan.mp3

It was supposed to be a joke... :)

I like it. Very nice use of the boomerang in the first dam level. Nice job. :)

I got 0:13:12. Using 54412 reloads, doing everything frame by frame... whew! Too bad the game doesn't have a record function.

Someone should just do a test run for each level, with and without jet. Then we'd have a clearer idea on what route is ideal. No need to be uber precise, just to get a general idea on how much time it saves, etc. Of course, *I*'m not doing it... Or is that a stupid idea?

His acting ability isn't genius, though. Seriously, have you seen that He-Man movie? *shiver*

There's also Super Robin Hood, which is a platform game. It was one of four games on a cart released as "Quattro Adventure"... or something like that.

Oh man, that was very nice. Those Megaman games always make for good timeattacks, especially with this lightning-fast switching between abilities. Good job!

JoyToKey works absolutely perfectly for me, and is very simple to use. Thanks.

Just download the patched binary, you don't have to compile anything yourself. http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorHomepages.html Here you can find a list of the emulators that we use, and where to download them. FCEU with patch applied is #2 on that list. By the way, the FAQ has the question "How do I play a FMV / GMV / SMV / VMV / FCM file?" but when you click on "FCM", all you get on how to play the file is "To play a fcm file, you need FCEU and the ROM image of the game". The same applies to all the other formats. Perhaps some slightly more newbie-friendly instructions could be added?

Master Quest is completely stupid. I've played through most of it (up into Ganon's Castle) and I must say, plain old OOT is better. Most of the puzzles in the palaces have been turned into boring "play a song at the right spot" sequences... and that's pretty much it. I didn't see any other big differences, but then again I hadn't played OOT for a long time, so I could have forgotten some things. Also, a Master Quest speedrun would be extremely boring to watch since it would almost be identical to the OOT speedrun. Oh, and good job on that OOT speedrun. I think it is very impressive to play through the whole game in 5 hours in one sitting. I haven't watched this run but I did watch the one that came before this one.

Not just dumb, it's profoundly moronic. Guess I won't be viewing that page. What a bunch of asshats.
