I doubt taking damage ever saves time in this game. You get stunned for about a second, and baby Maro will go flying away, and retrieving him also stops time for about half a second. Still, if there is a situation where it saves time, that's all well and good.

If that is the case, I guess there won't be a timeattack for Yoshi's Island. Unless someone tries and beats my time for the first level or two, I won't be motivated to keep going. (hint, hint)

I did a test run of the first two levels. The first two levels aren't very interesting but I think the game has potential. It's a pure speed run, so no flowers or red coins are collected. The reason is that there are already "legit" runs for all levels that do that, and I think a timeattack needs to do something different, or else it'll just be something we've seen before, with slightly better time. Anyway here it is: www.mmedia.is/shodan/files/Yoshi's Island (V1.1) (U).smv Edit: Just to clarify, I'm NOT going to finish this run, because it's already being worked on by someone else (hopefully), and also because I'm too lazy to do it. I just wanted to see how it would look and then afterwards decided to post it here. By they way, Torn, how is that timeattack progressing? :)

It desynced for me in the underwater level. I'm almost positive I was using the correct ROM (the checksums given in the dialog before playing the movie matched perfectly). I'm going to try a different ROM, but has this happened to anyone else? Edit: nevermind, it didn't desync this time, and I used the same ROM. Has anyone had the "open read only" thing make it desync when selected? Because that's the only explanation I have... Edit: It was very nice! It looked very tight and well optimized. I think it is worthy of being published. I like how you can jump to places that I think you're probably not supposed to be able to. Like how you got the missles. :) Although I have one very small complaint; in the first level in the "get the blimp" area, you climbed a set of stairs a few pixels too far to the right. But it's a very small issue and there might be a reason for it I don't know about anyway. But hey, I have to try to find something, right?

Hey, I was just playing this game (normally) and I found this awesome glitch. In level 2-1, just after the middle-ring, there is a giant tramboline ball that you take to the top, and there are some blocks in the air also, forming a line (so you can't jump outside the lines). Meh, it's hard to describe, so look at this picture (far right): http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/SuperNES/SuperMarioWorld2-Yoshi'sIsland-World2-Area1(1).png You can actually jump to the left of those blocks. It's very difficult, but in a timeattack that's obviously not an issue :) Just be running left when you touch the ball, then wait a little longer than normal, then jump. If you do it exactly right (and it WILL take LOTS of tries) you'll bounce up on the left side of the blocks. When you make it, you'll be transported to a completely blank area (just the background). Now "flap" to the right at least eight times and then just fall normally (pressing right at all times). When you fall to the bottom, if you did it correctly, you'll land in level 1-1 !!! This could potentially save a little time since if you complete the level from there, it'll be as if you completed 2-1 and you'll advance to the next level. You can skip the autoscroll bit in 2-1 completely.

No. See this text:
Single-segment 100% run of Donkey Kong Country 2 (the game calls it 102%) done in October 2001. Author's comments: Great quality. A great run (with 1 death that I really didn't deserve). This is a more difficult game than DKC1, but I think I've still come fairly close to the limit for a contiguous, no-save run. I doubt I could manage 0 deaths without a BFD-esque amount of effort. And I don't think anyone else has come close to this time, with or without saving.

Ooh, I can't wait to see Lolo 3 completed. It's the only Lolo game I played, but I could never finish it (I got to the underwater area and managed to clear one of the 4 pyramids or whatever they were, and then became severely stuck).

Yeah, you weren't kidding when you said it was boring. :) I nominate Fester's Quest as the most unsuitable game for a good timeattack, ever! Good job on the run though. Of course, it wasn't optimal everywhere, but who the hell cares, the game sucks anyway. :)

I think those "errors" were only minor oversights that can only be detected by the most anal of anal grammar nazis. But I understand that you only said it because I was complaining about spelling myself. Still, there were no blatant spelling errors in that post which is more than can be said about the topic. :)

Damn, that was a fun little game there. What a shame whoever who made this had to make it a crappy "shock" flash.

Heh, sorry about derailing the tread like that. It seems like my posts are always taken more seriously than I mean them to be. It was supposed to be a quick comment which I expected to be ignored by everyone. To the one who critizised my English, please point out what was wrong with it (just PM me, no need to go even more off topic). I've read the post over and over and can't figure out where the error is. If there even is one. Getting a bit closer to the topic, someone might find it interesting that people have made some "speedruns" through Warcraft III and The Frozen Throne. It's not Starcraft or Brood War but it is at least semi-related. The threads about it can be found here: Warcraft III Done Quick: http://www.infoceptor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9513 The Frozen Throne Done Quick: http://www.infoceptor.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12867

Sheeis! How many times do I need to tell people, there is no S in "Brood War"! Don't confuse it with Star Wars, there is only ONE Brood War and that is the one the expansion is about. Please get it right. Sorry about being anal but I find it annoying when people add an S to the title for no reason whatsoever.

By first level you mean up to the first boss, right? Yeah, it's a pretty tedious game, not much variation and no cool stunts that can be pulled off. I'll leave the decision up to you but know that I will watch it when it's finished, even if it turns out to be super duper boring. :)

The boss glitch works on the last boss as well. I just played through the game and used it on every boss, including the last one.

Actually, I was being sarcastic. I'm apparently the only one who found that humorus, so you're the humorless one. Anyway I guess this thread should probably be locked, since I can't see it going anywhere.

What? I wasn't expressing any hatred towards gay people or anything like that, I just happened to find that extremely funny. The way it is completely exaggerated and stupid made me laugh. There's no need to be upset about it. Sheeis, I guess nowdays you can't make gay jokes without being a complete racist asshole. To those who misunderstood, I apologize.

Hello, this forum has been a little dull lately so why don't you all take the gay test right here! http://www.snackfoam.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/gaytest1.html (flash needed)

I want someone to do Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, but I guess I will have to try for myself some day (I'm too lazy and besides it's too hard to do good SNES runs so mine would suck).
