Hello CeSaR74 and welcome to TASVideos. Nice of you to submit a run of this game, as it deserves one and this might encourage someone to make another one. Unfortunately, after watching 2.5 worlds, I have to vote no. I'll state the reasons like Mr. Kelly R. Flewin did: 1. You make clear errors that could've been avoided by simple rerecording. For example, you dodged some enemies by moving back a bit, when you could've just jumped at a different time. 2. Many missed shots for no reason. Makes the run seem very sloppy. 3. If I recall correctly, you don't have stop to attack if you're mid-air (even with the gun, though I'm not sure), so you could've killed many enemies a lot faster by shooting/kicking them in mid-air (like you sometimes did). 4. I had a WIP of the first level (that I'm trying to salvage) that I think was faster than your first level. 5. What is the password for? It takes an awful lot of time to enter it. Thanks again for submitting and better luck next time! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Aren't those TASed?
They're not. They're recorded with FCEU, but no TASing tools are utilized.

Have you seen this? Most of them aren't available anymore though (they're quite old).

DevilSpree, you clearly don't know what TASes are about, so please read this page and maybe some other articles linked on that page. This is enough about this off topicness. If you have any more questions, send me a private messages. Now back to Mega Man 5: Awesome work, Glitchman! Can't wait to see the final result.

Why don't people upload the .avi's from emulators? The feature exists for a reason.
There's no way to verify if the movie is legit from an AVI. Good quality (and reasonably sized) AVIs also take a lot of effort to create.

Hello Nonames and welcome to TASVideos. I hope that you've read the FAQ and the forum rules. If not, please take a minute to skim through them. They might answer questions you might have (don't be alarmed by me directing you to those pages, you've done nothing wrong). I'm glad you're interested in helping out and I'm glad you're enjoying TASes. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I hope you'll have fun here and once again, welcome :) PS. Wayne's world, Wayne's world, party time, excellent!

I'm not sure how good it is nowdays, but Virtualdub is/was a good video editing software for Windows.

As for cross platform issues, that is a concern here. Having said that, the rerecording versions of VBA, GENS, PCSX, and VBjin are all windows only at this time. TASing of PC-FX is currently linux only (not that there is any demand for TASing of that console).
VBA, Gens and VBjin work fine under Wine though (haven't tested PCSX) and there's Grrl to replace Gens on Linux, but it's quite outdated when compared to Gens.

Why would an emulator not be accepted?
Because it might lack some features or be unpopular etc. Nintendulator was once very accurate but it was Windows-only and not many people used it. Since then, FCEUX has surpassed it in basically every way, so it's not recommended to use it for recording TASes and thus Nintendulator submissions are not allowed. Read more about emulator requirements here: http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/Requirements.html

I watched it, but based on what Randil said, I have to vote no.

The best part is, you know that someone who thinks they can get accurate results by asking strangers to voluntarily describe some seriously fucked up issues, will present these joke responses as if they are real and that this will be the next headline in some 'new science' magazine / class.

Unlike other boards, most of our discussion tends to be civil and doesn't need a lot of moderating. So this idea would be totally unnecessary.
Yeah. Most of the moderating here is just moving posts and editing minor bits of them, not actual forum police work.

I just want to chime in, that when I moderate, I tend to note that I did edit posts, just to keep it clear who is moderating, if you are concerned about the fairness of moderation.
I also make a clear marker that the post is edited by a moderator and the nickname of the person who last edited the post is always visible (or is it?). Overall, this forum is very clean. There are some duplicate threads and all that little stuff, but nothing serious.

Now a more serious answer: I sometimes do find real life unfulfilling, but lately I've been feeling a lot better. I have a job and I'm more active with my other hobbies. My relationship is also doing well. I do have a tendency to avoid problems, but more often I try not to cause any problems. I usually solve my problems though, even if it seems to be too late for that. The third answer is basically the same as the second. My average speedrun is around 10 minutes, I think. Not sure about that. I do speedruns because I find it amusing and entertaining at times. It's a hobby.

No escape from reality.

I'm just a poor boy; I need no sympathy.
Are you easy come? Or easy go? A little high? Or a little low? Or don't you care which way the wind blows?
doesn't really matter to me

I'm voting yes as this kept me entertained all the way through. The game seems to be horrible though and that reduces the entertainment value of this run, but it was good nevertheless.

The appeal of this run is basically a gimmick.
I disagree. This game is very well made and it doesn't need its 3D gimmick to be entertaining. I didn't watch it all the way through yet, but I'm voting yes because it was fast paced and entertaining to me. Congratulations for the first VB TAS, adelikat!

I see one potential problem in adding TASing capabilities to the game itself, rather than the game being run unmodified inside an emulated environment: Namely, the game effectively becomes a hack.
So running a game inside an emulated environment to advance one frame, which isn't supported by the game itself (there's no such function like "advance one frame" in 95% of the games) wouldn't be called as a "hack", while playing a game that has this function after adding it into the source code is a hack. I don't agree with that but it's only my opinion.
I agree with Warp. Using emulator tools doesn't alter the game in any way. It just allows to overcome human limitations of precision, reflex and perception.

I'm voting yes. This game is very entertaining and it features clever shortcuts and no backwards walking. Even if it's not perfect, it's still good enough (I didn't notice any major flaws) the site and maybe publishing it will encourage an improvement at some point.
