Well, if I redo this run, should I do it on the Japanese version?
If that question was directed at me, maybe you should actually read my post. I don't think this movie should be rejected based on version differences, only because of known improvements. By the way, maziari is working on improvement to this run, he has saved 13 frames up to dp1 (I hope he won't mind me saying) - maybe you could contact him and work together rather than 2 separate runs being created. I look forward to an optimal one. :)
Oh, okay! Well, I started a run on the Japanese version, and 59 frames of lag are saved from using that version. Oh alright! I actually found his twitter account; it seems he saved 17 frames (11 on yi3 and yi4). I was able to save over 6 frames on C1, so maybe we could work together. I'm currently trying to figure out how fadeout lag works.. it seems like it works with the frame (and maybe the x position) the goal post is touched..
There is no reason you have to use the J version. You can use U or J (U is preferred however). Read this: http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html#UseTheCorrectVersion

I might be interested, I'm working on another TAS though but meet me on IRC on #tasvideos and PM me. My name is Buddybenj. (I have school so I don't know if I can be on that much but I'll try).

Thanks to help from micro500 and Weatherton we now have a very full TAS block. To sweeten the raffle, in addition to a true's NES/SNES replay device and a completely pristine ROB the winner of the raffle for the TAS block donation prize will win micro500's N64 bot as well. Please donate during the TAS block to help us raise $10,000 during the block. Thanks again to everyone for the support and see you soon! A.C. ******
Did we raise $10,000?

[1352] NES Donkey Kong by Phil in 01:08.67 "in 1:17" is not a meaningful category - and especially not if your movie time isn't even 1:17. Besides that, you're much slower than the currently published run. Any reason this run should be worth publishing?
I agree with Mothrayas. The run is slower than the currently published movie, seems suboptimal (there are only 8 rerecords), and "in 1:17 shouldn't be a branch, especially is the time is not 1:17. I'll watch this movie right now though to make a vote.

Bear in mind that "Speedy TAS" is to choose a TAS with extremely fast character movement, not just being a well executed timely TAS. Wiki: Awards

I know but it still was completed very fast. I understand it is not about just being optimal. I'll try to think of something else though. [2368] Windows VVVVVV by Masterjun in 13:30.25 [2467] N64 F-Zero X "Death Race" by Lord Tom in 00:29.55 I would still like to keep my Mario vote though.

It's great to hear more people can learn about tool-assisted speedruns. If we ever had the time in the future I would enjoy seeing one of the longer super mario world runs (if they would sync) however some would take too much time. Also great job on the SNES verification, that is just flat out awesome! Can't wait till next year with even more TASes at AGDQ! Good luck on your $10,000 goal. Edit: I would also like to see the SNES Super Mario Kart TAS, but that also would take up a lot of time. But it would be interesting nonetheless.

Uhh.. The guide says 0-239 and optionally for NTSC only you can also do 8-231. http://tasvideos.org/EncodingGuide/VideoDumping.html

When you guys do NES encodes for PAL I know your drawing area is set to 0-239, but when you do NTSC do you use 0-239 or 8-231? Which one is best? Doesn't the NES have to use one of those for NTSC? If the best option is game specific, what would be the best for Super Mario Bros.?

Ok. So if I'm doing any% I wonder if easy is faster (however it take a frame more to select). In that case I might want to specify. Idk, I'll see. Thanks for the support.

OK. Sounds good. So the branch will just be "normal mode".

I have started a TAS of Mario Tennis - Power Tour (UA) (M5) for the GBA! I'm excited to do it. But i have a question. Should i use the game mode easy or medium? Or should i load from an SRAM and use hard? I feel i should use medium because it's the hardest of the two but considering hard would be possible from SRAM i don't know. Any input would be nice! I will be posting WIPS and hopefully testing some cool strats! Thx for any help. P.S. If you want to work on it with me just post it or PM me (but if you haven't made many TASes yet I suggest watching adelikat's TAS tutorial, it's really good).

NES emulation isn't perfect yet. On #1011: Acmlm's NES Monopoly in 00:30.03 I'm getting desyncs. On FCEUX 2.2.2 it's fine. I don't know what kind of issue this is. The title screen lasts longer or something.
Is that run console verified? It's not marked as such.
No. But I have tested it on both old ppu and new ppu on fceux 2.2.2. Although it may be a movie conversion issue because it is an odd desync. Try it your self. You are right though. Considering both are made by adelicat I don't know why he would make the ppu much differant. Which ppu is most accurate?
