Dracula's first phase is pretty much entirely unchanged to before. I need to unfreeze time at some point to get him to appear, but once his hurtbox is active, I can once again just stick him in place and spam knives into him in a way that would make Dio blush.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA When I realized that the game suddenly froze completely, now I know Simon was the original ZA WARUDO discover :p Great to see a new TAS of this game. I'm surprised the stopwatch glitch can reduce a bunch of lag frames and gains several seconds after all. The stair glitch, the optimization, skipping two doors and the holy water manipulation looks very polished! Excellent job and Yes vote.

Nice to see an improvement of this port! Several years ago I found out the European version included four extra levels not present in any ports of this game. The gameplay is so stiff that I didn't expect some other glitches would be discovered over 16 years later. Great job discovering the new way to skip gates, that cut tons of time on some levels! This project is the biggest breakthrough of the classic Prince of Persia games since the DOS version of the second game nearly four years ago. Yes vote ;)

I have been working on this game since 2017, and this time I have a new category to take a shot: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638735950496173474 Yeah beating this game without taking damage and not using any subweapons, but I still allow killing enemies and upgrading the whip. This WIP doesn't include scroll glitch yet, because I wanted to test optimizing this game without them. This is the first step for now. Back from 2010, scrimpeh made a TAS of this category, but that run was rejected at the time, years have passed and new tricks were discovered over the years. Current progress: 31 seconds faster, no scroll glitches (as I said above), spent arount 50% rerecords adding extra entertainment, and I'm not sure if upgrading the whip twice would save more time (it will be tested before going to the major second step). EDIT: This game uses US PRG1 version, because I imported the old run from FCEUX to BizHawk.

I watched both categories of this game, and thanks a lot for the comparison video. Pretty insane you defeated Lunar Ball two times: while the "normal" one has some notable improvements, this "no friction" run surprises me that some levels in the old run took forever to finish. Excellent job as always! Yes vote.

Wait! That monster on the first level appears as soon as you enter "that room" without the need to trigger the cutscene and the vent section doesn't hurt the player in the original version? Crazy job! Yes vote.

I knew about the special Arkanoid controller but I didn't expect to see another big improvement to this game. 2025 started very well. Excellent job guys!

I'd like to take a shot on it sometime in the future, because the scroll glitch can be abused even more.

Time to revive the topic nearly 7 years later! Yesterday was the 17th anniversary of the published run of this game (SMS version), but years have passed and why this game wasn't updated yet? Well... I have only one idea that I can't exactly confirm: the lag in this game is painful to optimize, and the game starts showing it just at the first zone. Some years ago, The8bitbeast and EZGames69 started the project working on the first two zones, several months later I decided to help them managing to reduce more lag and also working on two more zones, but I ended putting this game on hold because other projects. Here's the movie file: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638693521322570251 Encode video: Link to video Over 40 seconds faster than the published run, and the project will be revived sometime in the future (I'd like to still continue the project).

Wow thanks for the commentary in the encode video. The game has a bunch of impressive stuff I wouldn't notice easily, and the work and optimization are excellent! Yes vote.
