It's funny that you said that. Look at this conversation (translated) I've just had with thiago trujillo, a brazilian super mario 64 speedrunner with a guinness record: http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/convo.txt I had never talked to him and as soon as he knew my opinion towards TASing he got personal and blocked me. So no, I don't think every speedruner is ok with the tasing community. It's just sad for them, because I don't care lol.
Uh, well you DID kind of say near the end there that TASing or playing by hand was irrelevant. You didn't say it in those words but you weren't careful enough to avoid implying that TASers and true game players could be compared and judged as if they were the same people. But if you want a point too, you could say he's a jackass because all he cares about are rankings anyway. It's right there in the conversation. He wants rankings.

Nice run, but I will refrain from voting. My reason: I'm not sure if it would be permitted, but the North American prototype includes a run button for non-combat situations, doubling walking speed. If the bread glitch works in it, then that is probably the version that should be used. Keep in mind that it was used in the GBA Japanese rerelease, making it more official. It also has a much more interesting ending than just credits.
It says in the submission text that the glitch is missing from the other two versions.

You know, as much as I appreciate pointing a gun between the eyes of the game's logic and pulling the trigger, couldn't it have been done with less random twitchery? Will be forgiven if such rapid zigzagging is a method of moving faster. Either way, yes. Reminds me of how much I really need to play this for myself.
I think that was the entertainment.

There's already an emulator for that that works just fine, as far as I know... In fact it's already on the site.

Maybe there will have to be two anyway, since it seems they play differently?

for everyone who doesn't seem to know what the play time means, i'm pretty sure it means time spent actually playing the game as opposed to flying through the story.

I was thinking of (and keep rambling about) the two Pinball Hall of Fame games, I think they're both on the PS2, but one is on the GCN, and the other is on the Wii. The first one didn't get a Wii release outside of PAL regions. The Wii version of the Williams game may be preferred, though. Anywho, about the game: There are several re-created pinball machines from 70s to early 90s.. or maybe late 80s. The only goal of the TAS is not to just achieve the highest scores possible, because there are goals. Every game has 5(?) table goals, which you must complete (and then start a separate game after they're all finished) to go on to the wizard goals, which are harder goals to accomplish than the table goals. I think what could be done is a TAS to complete all goals, and optionally to max out scores possibly in the challenge mode in the Williams game... I know nothing about the Gottlieb game and I can't say whether or not it has a similar mode.

Weird, it was showing up just the other day. edit: or maybe it wasn't. There doesn't even seem to be a movie page for startropics..

The game is called StarTropics. Not Star Tropics. There's no space in either game's title. Putting a space in the title is wrong. edit: uh, and as such, StarTropics 2 needs renaming.

Animal crossing is one of my favorite games as well but I don't think it would be much of a tas lol...
it's a real-time game, it has no end, and to do everything you still have to have friends, which don't exist in a TAS, so you probably shouldn't have even brought it up.
I was thinking as buying everything, finding everything and upgrading everything. I know it has no end.
Did you listen to me? You need more than one person to get everything.

The names are retarded because other than having to do with the NES, they don't fit the remixes at all. In fact, I should go as far to say as they all sound the goddamn same.

Sir VG: in Firefox 3, you can just type "TAS" and you should get the right TASVideos URLs right at the top. TAS-down-enter is what I do to get where I'm going.
Replace "Firefox 3" with "Firefox 1" but this is exactly what I do. I type "T" and tasvideos is the first entry in the dropdown list :)
Replace "firefox" with JUST ABOUT ANY BROWSER and you can still do the same thing. It's been around longer than you think.

I think, more or less. It translates it to English, removes the extra menus, and I think there were object and fps counters or something that are also gone.
