Wipeout 3 [TAS] - Phantom Tournament - Pirhana-A - No DamageLink to video
As with previous ones, done using rewinding and 0.5 game speed. Emulator used is Mednafen. Phantom is the fastest speed class in the game.
I'm not speed boosting using ship health and healing in the pit. Let it be a no damage run. This way seems more interesting at this point. Otherwise, it would require more strategy, like health budget that is different for each track.
Actually boosting on corner bounds, like that you see in the first track, is very hard to do, even with rewinding. That's why these are not consistent across laps. I'm leaving it as things to discover at this point. Easier boosts are those that can be done on bounds during straights.
Boosting on opponents on the race begin is the easier part, compared. Places where the autopilot can be used to go faster around corners are also not discovered.

Hello.
These are my TAS videos and few comments about racing in this game.
Compared to previous Wipeout game in the series, ships feel more heavy and steering must be done more in-advance. More advanced steering, that relies on directional brakes, that yields more optimal line, looks like this: release acceleration, apply directional brake, apply acceleration again. And so far, this looks like number one feature that needs to be properly used in getting best lap times.
Few ways of boosting the speed:
General objectives when racing are to brake only before the apex and have fastest corner exit speed. Adjusted if doing corner section or dealing with opponents.
Why not Wipeout 3 Special Edition instead?
There is only PAL version of it and it runs at 25Hz, compared to base, NTSC game, that does 30Hz. This is the only reason it seems.

When racing, first goal is to have fastest corner exit speed. This is modified if doing a corner section. In this case, most important is exit speed from the last corner, often at the cost of speed before. Braking is sometimes done by colliding with walls or other vehicles.

Done by rewinding and using save states. The game is from 2000, is Japanese only and racing engine is very similar to Sega Rally. One challenge is 4-5 races. Tell me if you want to see more of them done.
one could slow down the 60 fps video by half and upload it to YT. then tell everyone to watch at 2x speed which would yield 60fps video, for any resolution.
since its on emulator, i thought there is a way around this and videos can be made higher framerate than in original game.
you could upload to some file sharing websites like Sendspace.com or Depositfiles.com. but i can see this can be a waste of your time if not doing this usually.
is it possible to replace mario character vioces with something different and have video of tas run rendered then into AVI. he sounds kinda retarded and annoying...
this is actually reason i dont play nintendo games, otherwise i know they have great gameplay values...
Hello.
I edited video and removed loading screens etc.
You may be interested to know that after doing that length is only 19m02s.

i dont played game long time. but from what i recall, best for TAS would be Paul and Yoshimitsu. i had strat for time attack mode once...
Paul: implement his unblockable move, back,back+1+2
Yos: df+1,2 then when opponent gets backturned use ff+3+4, 1+2, 3+4
in most FGs attacks do much more damage on counter hit, this is especially valid in T3. counter hit = hit opponent when he is trying to do his move.
