I didn't understand that post... the changes made the physics more abusable? I know bomb hovering is superior in MM, but I don't see any other improvements of the glitches in MM compared to OoT... and I really don't seem to recall crouch stabs being used in MM A quick test could sort this all out. I really do not want this run to be abandoned

Regardless, JXQ and Fabian are working on it; are you guys going to release WIPs per level? I know it's only 11 levels but each level looks like it's gonna take a lot of work to improve (except of course for Star world 3 lol) and I'd love to see it in progress

Followed this since the beginning of... V5 or 6 I think. Enjoyed it and voted yes. I think I found all the bonuses myself without help. there's always a lone banana to indicate a secret of some sort, and in water levels I just spent hours hugging the walls to see where I could go through. This is certainly not as bad as DKC1 where that one level have 5 bonuses, and another level had a bonus inside a bonus. the trickiest things in DKC2 were the Hero Koins hidden in bonuses or the ones at the end of the level on the target pole.
bkDJ... thanks for all your great input during the run, especially for your .mkv split movie of V1 and V8. I think that is the best example of showing how much I had improved, and I enjoyed watching it alot, because it also gave me a rough idea of what an AVI of the final run will look like (though now my curiosity of all levels after that have been peaked.) It was a lot of effort for you to make it, so kudos to you for making that. My restlessness/love for TASing is both a blessing and a curse; it gives me amazing focus, and lets me produce the same awesome runs that I admired when I first joined, but at the same time has dominated my life some of the time (I know it has dominated my topics of conversations with my gamer friends, as well as dictating what I'm going to do for some nights or simply sucking hours away.) Posting daily was exhausting sometimes, but I'm glad that I kept the topic as hot as possible and making waits for WIPs as little as possible for maximum enjoyment during the making of the run.

As long as the No got changed it's fine... is that the one no that drops it to 97%, or is that someone else's? Anyways, I think that the link to the rerecord patch also includes nitsuja's emulator, but I could be wrong. I think it is though, download the patch to see the entire movie and if the emulator is not included in the download it was very easy for me to find the thread of the Snes9x 1.43+ improvement9.

Thanks. It wasn't just hours lol started this back in July (the gawd awful V1), and once I got to college i would spend 5+hours a day working on this, sometimes more we're talking solid weeks in terms of hours added together actually, I think I might be getting TAS withdrawl, I might take a shorter break than intended because I'm getting that urge to work on a run. I should probably play diablo 2/other games and hang out with more friends until the withdrawl feelings pass, and then I can get back to work on TASing. I'll probably never stop until the site closes (God forbid.)

Ooh burn... but I'm looking foward to the improvement of this run, whoever works on it. I smell a great joint effort from everyone here though.

There's a sandbox. But really, I edit my submissions 5 times and no one complains. So I don't know why someone should complain about editing 3 times. P.S. Why is the Minor edit box now unchecked by default? Minor edit!
I must've revised my submission 10 times or so

Great stuff here comicalflop. It's taken me a while to get around to it but i finally watched this and enjoyed it greatly. Definite yes vote. The 'yes' votes here are overwhelming, this should be obvious for publication, you shouldn't worry. Don't lose sleep over it, you did amazingly and we can all see that.
Thanks man, that puts me at ease. I did lose sleep when I submitted it because I was so glad it was done, I had to stay up until 4:30 in the morning watching the run before I got sleepy at all.

What were your "WTF" parts?
Probably the biggest one was in one level with the rising floor, where you did the team throw into what seems through the ceiling into the bonus level. The other one probably was the "spring" in one of the boxed water levels. I think it was the one that you change lava to water, but I can't remember exactly what level.
Lava Lagoon is the level. "Spring"?

When vieweing the ending, it actually needs input to stop; the boat sails into the sunset, and the ending does not go to the normal reset of the game until you press a button. Just a little note; it'd probably be best to end the AVI when the last sinister laugh ends. For the .smc you can check my movie file to see the 102% and 1:12 in-game timer. I don't know how Rare expected anyone to do any 100+% for any of the DKC games, a lot of the secrets are not intuitive and cannot be found on thier own without a FAQ walkthrough. I'm hoping for a star too What were your "WTF" parts?

I will improve this, but much later from now. All minor mistakes were discovered very late in the run, and hex-editing is a b*tch to work with for all DKC games. Also, the movie is very good as it is, as seen by all good reviews of it and 29 yes votes. And if at any point Arne gives up, I will complete the any%, but doubtful since he is a meticulous worker and very well should complete it, and spectacularly.

yes he is working on it, but at a very slow pace. I could in theory complete an any% run before he finishes, but by the time I submitted it he would be finished and have a much better version. Plus, I'd play the any% much like Sami's version but with added glitches and fixed mistakes, but since Arne is pretty much keeping to himself he's probably finding faster ways to speed through levels.

We also have birds flying through thorns, monkeys on sugar rushes that refuse to stay still, spiders that are on a killing spree, a rhinocerous who flies through the air, team-throwing glitches, and more. And there is in fact a monkey's-uncle joke of sorts- I stated in the thread that Cranky Kong is so cranky because I visit him late in world 4.

The door's wide open now! I think it shouldn't even take too long, since that one trick is the only real huge time saver i think you can keep everything up to the first spot to execute that trick, which is the ghost house. Unless you find some other small improvements, or want to change the style of it so it's not simply your old movie with one new trick inserted. But go for it

I hope my run does not fall under the same criteria, I'm hoping the 25 Yes votes in less than 24 hours will help speed things up. And for everyone looking at the potentiality of V9- do not let it affect your judgement of this run at all. As I stated in the topic:

I agree that it probably wasn't noticed until afterwards, crouch stabbing is not an intuitive part of the game. Everyone knows a jumpslash does double damage, but in typical game-wise fashion at the cost of speed; but nobody could of guessed that double damage could be stored and applied quickly with crouch stabs. And a few physics of MM were changed, most likely the MM programmers changed the damage storing capabilities without knowing it existed in the first place.

I believe crouch stab damage storing was removed in MM; i certainly don't remember seeing any in the SDA run, nor in Petrie's descriptions of his TAS test runs

I have to admit I've seen all the levels up to K.Rool battle, so I guess I'll have to watch this movie in its entirety, but the one thing that really frustrated me when watching this was the long black fade outs. That wouldn't be so bad if it was just all out completing levels, but when I was watching it, it just seemed like a ten second burst of action followed by a long black fadeout. I'll watch and vote later. I have to admit that I noticed I the mistake that P.J showed second time round, I also noticed that in the lift section near the end of the game you charge up Rambi's move, but the secret wall leading to the bonus stage is right next to Rambi, it seemed to waste time doing that. I'm not going to cast my vote becuase its hard not to watch all the through without using savestates and the long fadeouts are just annoying. Despite that the game is obviously well excecuted and shows a good number of glitches and shortcuts. On a side note that last K.Rool battle looked really hard, I wonder how many attempts that would take to do because relistically the only way I could probally do is by memorizing the patterns K.Rools shot which would probally take forever. I would definitley watch it again if the AVI shortened the fadeouts.
The run is noticably longer than the DKC 101%, because bonuses have to be completed, the levels are longer, and yeah the fadeouts are long. I tried to find ways to reduce that fadeout, some levels had short fadeouts and some didn't, however it is ingrained in the levels so there's no way I could reduce it. The end result is 1:12 minutes of action within 1:28 of movie time, or 80% in game time, which is still good. I also want that 80% to more than make up for the long waiting periods, which I felt I did. I also personally think the waiting time is better than the Super Metroid game; there's a wait transition between each room, leading to 2-3 seconds of action, followed by 2-3 seconds of wait. Comparitively, there's 39 minutes of in-game for Super Metroid 100%, whereas I have 1:12. Getting that DK coin, it might actually be fastest to let Diddy jump foward and hit the target- his song is 3 seconds longer, but the time needed to hit it with Dixie is slightly longer I think. And I hadn't tested how team-throwing affects the goal- since it is slow vertical ascension, I don't know if it could save time. Watch for V9 to deal with this and other potential faster methods. Rambi cannot use his double jump to ascend above the rising floor like the team-throw can, he only has one jump. with the walls with spiny's, I charge jump at them, and on the right one I charge, and double jump to land right next to the bonus; then charge up, and enter the bonus earlier than intended. This is the fastest way to do it; corners got in the way of charging right into the bonus in one jump. The last K. Rool battle is surprisingly easy to do on a console; what you do is go to the very far left, and you'll see the patterns of the shots coming at you, and it's easy to dodge. But that's the easy way out of doing that boss; what is not easy is TASing/showing off at that fight, I had to know the patterns beforehand to create the best showing off possible, and yes it took a lot of retries; 902, which is at least 200 more than any of the other rerecord intensive levels. That also applies to the main K. Rool duel. Both of those fights, like most of the run, dodges obtacles and getting hit by one mere frame.
