YOU have a really bad attitude. He just politely asked you to PM him your .smv so he can take your supposed improvements and see if he can incorporate them. In response to such a polite request, you're basically threatening to get into an unhealthy competition.

I was under the impression low% runs aimed to get the lowest % possible, disregarding any amount of extra time taken to achieve that.

How about everyone who has a profile can recommend a movie or $number. And the movies with the most recommendations gets the spots on the recommended movie list?
This would basically be the same as the starred list, except instead of being soleyBisqwit/some publishers, it's everyone's. Which will unfortunately lead to a very, very high list of nominees. That, or the list will merely resemble the list of what is rated the highest. Having two separate lists for the same thing seems silly, especially since for the most part, the highest rated stuff is rated so by lots of members who know what they are doing and know if something is technically good, or entertaining for the purposes of the site. There are of course some favorites that everyone is going to pick, but everyone has a lot of different, obscure TASes that they would personally recommend. A few members actually have their own recommended lists in their forum signature; and each one is for the most part different. The best way to get a list for "first timers" is to get the opinions of those people, which is actually quite hard since most of the newcomers who start browsing the movies aren't joined on the site. Those that are, are mostly quiet. Occasionally you get Mr. fanboy who joins just to praise one move that gets completed, but when you think about it, for the entire history of "recommended movies" we have had a smaller group of people who know a lot about TASes deciding for others who are introduced to TASing what they should watch. And those decisions were based on what the current members thought was cool. So, I dunno. I've always liked the recommended movies section, and it makes sense to direct newcomers to that section. But it's hard to get an objective list that gives them what they want, because we assume we know what they want, but really we don't because we are veterans, and assume that movie x is suitable for newcomers because we think it best displays a certain aspect of TASing very well. Some movies that demonstrate a TAS's ability for fast reflexes may be too fast to understand, like Sonic Advance 2, Tetrisphere, Wetrix, Biker Mice from Mars, etc. A run showing great luck manipulation may fall dead on viewers who have no clue that luck is being manipulated, or even what luck manipulation is. When I joined, I knew games where random, but I had no idea it could be manipulated. The first luck manip heavy movies I watched made no sense to me at all. This post got too long, and I'm hungry.

There's also using numerous whip launches to go through vertical walls. Wall sinking is not done with the method however. And is the shuriken glitch to be excluded in a "glitchless run"? I like the term "full Maxim run" better than "glitchless maxim run". I did not know you can't save with Maxim. In the route, why does he occassionally go in some save rooms for a brief second then leave (ala the same way that the 100% CotM movie visits a room real quick to get 100% room completion)? This confused me.

That test run was.....amazing. There's lots of room for improvement in movement (forgets to dive kick down slopes, towards the end favors all dashing over using sliding, and sometimes spends too much time setting up a whip launch) and some boss fights (doesn't activate a shuriken glitch off the first spin of the shuriken, the first boss didn't need the 2 mirage attacks, has 25 hearts at the end not used), but the overall speed and pace of the run was phenomenal. It proves what I've been saying all along, that such a run would look awesome. I think some save resetting like in the Juste version might save some backtracking, so that might complicate the route a little bit. Man.... really makes me wish I had time to work on this run....

I can't seem to find the link for the Anti-Desynch version of Mupen that okaygo created to assist in the publication of Majora's Mask. I keep recommending it to people while being unable to give a link. I think it should be hosted next to the record reset version of mupen.

I am pretty sure that people have already REALLY tried that already. What *you* need to do is REALLY think of a new suggestion that people haven't tried yet that might be helpful, rather than suggesting something people have already tried before numerous times with no legit success.

But wait, all other 2,000 TASvideos members have done that also! So why does he get special attention? Sorry, that argument reeks of epic fail Mr. Suckup.

Nahhhhh. I think overall it might look different, but we're probably talking a way longer overall real time length. That kind of dedication should probably be spent towards a 100%.

I think the ratings are more an example of "This is not N64 and I have never heard of it, I'll give a 6/8" phenomena. It is just a few people (you know who you are), but enough to make a noticeable difference on the ratings.
What exactly does this have to do with anything? No one I know of, not even myself rates movies this way. The "I have never heard of, but will rate anyway" happens sometimes, but the N64 negative bias part was just thrown in randomly for no reason. I'm confuzzled. You also must remember that back in the day, runs were published with lower standards and because everything was pretty new, people were pretty excited about even the lamest of submissions. If you go looking through very old topics and submissions (like I have), you'll see a lot of "my pants are on fire this is awesome!" comments from newbie users who are no longer active, who also didn't fully appreciate the rating system the way we do now.

I would certainly like to see a 100% run, although I wouldn't personally do it. The amount of planning required would be beyond any route I can presently think of, mainly because of all the events that require very specific arrival times (remember back to a few months ago when I realised I wouldn't make the ranch in time and the resulting redo, that was just one and a 100% would have many more). The brave individual who would take it on would have to be prepared for years of hard work and a lot of redoing. Having said that, if anyone wants to try it please do. I would certainly help out with the route and give support and advice every step of the way. As for myself, I'll stick to my beloved any%.
Mukki states it well. A 100% run would require someone who has way too much dedication.

Except Doom 64 is eve darker than DN iirc... Also, there are quite a lot of glitches in the PC Dooms, like wall hugging strafing which is even faster than normal strafing, and buttloads of others I bet. I think it wouldn't do any harm to try and see if those same glitches for for 64. I'd probably watch and appreciate a TAS of this game. I say go ahead.
