we are very fortunate that spezzafer is giving this another try. While Nitsuja would be the man to do it if spezzafer couldn't finish it, just be glad it's being worked on again, assuming spezz can find the tool to help him see Yoshi's speed (mem watch?)

during the video when it glitches, is it an action filled moment or something where something not interesting is going on? it'd be a shame if something entertaining was unable to be seen.

I think possibly if the sandbox section can be used to let any user besides editors to make their own home pages that'd be an interesting feature, instead of only editors having their own home pages. Just a little thought, as I learn new information about TASers from their homepages, and it'd be a nice feature if maybe a homepage was automatically created when someone makes a submission that the player can edit, much like how they can edit their submission.

that's good to hear. I unfortunately cannot provide any assistance on the desynching issues, seeing as I have a bias towards them which does not result in creative thought process in avoiding them.

uh oh. um, I don't know what to say... I think in that thread you can ask Maximus if in his next version for .m64's to be included. It's a bummer that desynchs have started, and it'd be a huge shame if it would have to be dropped again. Keep trying and see if problem persists.

How does one edit this sandbox without being an editor?
Log in and click 'edit'. Worked for me.
can you use the editing of this page to create new webpages i.e. a new section for tricklist or a user profile page?

Oh, maybe I need to read closer, probably it was someone else's comment, there was a 30 mention somewhere. On to the run- YES vote. It was fast, enemies were destroyed like they were hardly there, and time savers plus lots of fast action, a great improvement I'd say. I liked how weapons were scrolled through wicked fast just before bosses. Great run.

Oh wow! 46 seconds???? (rest edited for being incorrect) I watched most of the WIPs, and while I wasn't familiar with the previous run enough to see the areas of improvement I was still impressed with your work... I'll vote as soon as I see it in its entirety.

Of course, I think the time that can be saved in the 3 team fights can leave a wide range of available time to go fishing for points. Offhand, but wow we have made this quite the hot topic, I hope the runs come out as sweet as we hope them to be. Hrm I'm haivng a little bit of difficulty in restarting, in that I'm getting some weird desynch problems from how I'm starting the movie... is it reset ROM, and hit frame advance to pause game, then load movie file, or should it be able to play from the start whenever you hit playback movie, and let the ROM reset itself? nvm I think I got it. For future reference, to watch movies you reset ROM, and pause before the game itself loads to have it paused at frame 0, then playback the movie, and hit pause again to play it? I'll send .m64 and if someone can verify it works or not test if this desynchs or not psychoticworm what's your projected finish date/final score of your new vid? plus, you have the higest post/day ratio of 13, no fair! I thought my 5.14 was highest! lol I have a possible strategy for Mario Bros. to get brothers calamity and true friend... at the start, jump up in between your friend and Luigi and start doing smash+a until you've hit Luigi to the end of the bridge platform, and do a spike either two spikes and recover, or up+b. if all goes well, your friend will have moved left, and Mario will follow you slightly, and you can tackle him next. in order to get the best bonuses here: Friend must not be harmed Luigi must be beaten before YOU deal any damage to Mario. It's ok for friend to deal damage to Mario. If both of these cannot be accomplished, true friend gives more bonus points than brothers calamity, so be sure to start juggling damage to both at the same time, and keep them away from your friend. Although, TAS, with extreme effort, both bonuses probably can be gotten. But it'd be tricky, but awesome if I pulled it off.

oh. so much for that. I'm guessing instead to get Link's sorry ass as far to the right as far as possible to improve time?

Alright then I will. a shame too, I think I overwrote my old file to do so. but I'll go fix that, and hopefully start by this weekend. anything special done in Link?, that's the first fight so if I get started this weekend that'd be the first fight to finish, I was planning to manipulate him to charge headlong at me, then instead of swallowing an waiting on the edge to fall off, simply to swallow in the air and fall straight down immediatly. I can spit him out safely by pressing A at any time, so no worries about hitting the bottom before Link is spat out. It's 10:00 PM here, I gotta get on homework, can't wait for the weekend to start on this.

That is a big shame that you won't be able to work on it next month. Good luck with temporary promotion, I'll be looking foward to when you can start working on this again.

Try making a video of a N64 ROM with memory pack sometime, hehe... so, the 2nd controller thing might NOT work? yeah, maybe more testing before I went ahead and restarted might've been a good idea... I did save two frames though, however. If you don't mind testing, and finding if it's consistent or not before I start that'd be nice so that I can remake the movie file 1 controller instead of two before I get too far...

enjoy it while it lasts, Fabian's improving that :P and I'd agree on watching the .smv, except there's no rewinding, and my Snes9X is terribly screwed up, the framerate drops down to 30-40 every 5 seconds. the animation is extremely choppy, so when making a movie or watching a new run for the first time I'll download the .smv but for general movie watching the AVI is prefered for me. (unless my CPU has problems and the video/sound get out of synch.)

Correct. This'll be no damage, no dying. The No Miss bonuses should rack up from each level, and the run end with No Miss Clear. I have my .m64 all set and ready, with two controllers, and just rechecked to make sure it works (it was desynching before, but Mupen was being a little weird. This is going to be a non desynching N64 run THANK GOD because it emulates very well) I couldn't get Direct 64 to work, as it's not there in the video settings options, even though I downloaded it and put the .dll in the directory, so I'll just stick with Glide64.

I see, but maybe if you could list some of the changes you had made to get such an increase by race to the finish that'd be great. I'm not going to start right away, probably not until the weekend at the earliest or vacation at the latest. First thing is to redo menu navigation to incorporate 2 controllers into the movie file, and then some massive strategizing. I'll send a big post with a list of improvements for all stages before I start to be sure I won't miss anything. I'll have 1 stock selected and no worries of losing it at any point.

AHH so then YEAH obviously I'm going to be using it as well... so, the input from the second controller can be used for manipulation, without affecting the characters movement from the first controller? why didn't you say so before? :P do you think it'll work on manipulating enemy movement as well, or does that just apply to your own movement? I think that may be revolutionary for other NES/SNES games that'd allow a 2nd controller for similar purpose. that means I'll be using two controllers as well, so a restart is in order... not that I was very far anyways hehe. psychoticworm any chance your new vid is done?

I think what you have is optimized; however, you should redo, making a new movie file with only ONE controller; however, I will accept a 2nd controller IF you have a different use for it, since I have proved that 1 controller plus the TAS input plugin GUI can do the exact same thing.

Also, using one controller is simply easier for viewers, so that they don't have to noodle around with settings to get it to work. Basically, it requires everyone to both have N-Rage plugin AND an external controller just to watch, I think it'd be so much easier if second controller was removed, especially since I showed how with one controller you can get the same effect.
It doesn't, i just mentioned the gamepad in case you were setting the 2nd controller to use it too, which looks like it doesn't work after all. The tas plugin can use 2 controllers too..
The gamepad was set as my main controller, I was setting the 2nd controller to it as well, but I got that fixed by making 2nd controller use the keyboard. I suppose it's easier than it sounds to make settings use 2, but one controller is UNIVERSALLY better for everyone, antd included because the 2nd controller is not needed due to the TAS plugin's GUI window (unless you mentioned that the 2nd controller has more helpfulness later on for different reasons.) antd, for menu navigation and starting stages faster you do NOT need the 2nd controller, as I have stated. Unless you have some other purpose besides menu/starting screen navigation, do not use it because it's adding a new function when one controlelr can handle it just fine.

I thought you were redoing VS. Link anyways to really optimize frames... And I think the two controller setting is ingrained in the movie file, so a new file AKA a restart of the run would be nescessary. Although the menu navigation is so fast, it's not biggie only took me 90 rerecords but that is because I was trying to find the first frame, so should be around 70. It only took me 5 minutes to do menu navigation.

correct it does, ergo 2nd controller not needed, after your movie ends I made a savestate before bonus, set A to turbo and it did exactly the same as start turbo, got to the Yoshi team at the exact same time. I know you're comfortable with 2 controllers, but using 1 controller and the GUI window of the TAS input plugin for turbo would make it easier for you, and viewers. I highly recomend it. 2nd controller helps later how? it doesn't affect your character's movement in single player, how would it be helpful?
