First there was automatic Mario; now there's automatic Kirby. Also, this.

Bisqwit, Since you know several languages, do you ever dream in any language other than Finnish?

Maybe they just perfected the implementation to the point that they might as well have invented it ;).

It seems I'm even more alone on numpad usage than I thought.
Some laptops, like mine, don't have a separate numpad; that could be a factor for those of us who primarily use laptops. For example, I have to press a key labeled Fn together with Num Lock in order to toggle certain keys between the usual mode and the numpad mode.

My layout is almost the same as the one I posted in that topic. I now use IJKL for movement, however, because the arrow keys on my 5.5-year-old laptop are starting to fail.

Um, I believe it was a GB or GBC game. It involved timetravel, and toddlers, if I remember correctly. I believe you walked around to find lanterns?
Based on a quick Google search, might it be Rugrats: Time Travellers for GBC?

A game genie code would be better than having to use an IPS, if you know how to make those.
Here you go: AEEOVILA. Also, I was wrong about nothing changing in the second quest. The various symbols (money, knowledge, family, peace) that you can pick up apparently have different graphics in the second quest. I wonder if you actually need those things to beat the game, though. EDIT: You do need the symbols. You can't exit the castle if you don't get the one inside. I've also tested the idea of skipping the third castle, but you don't finish the quest if you skip it. So you'll need to get all four symbols.

I remember playing this as a child and not having any idea about the goal of the game. That was partly cleared up by a document on GameFAQs, but I'd definitely like to see a TAS of it. You need to beat the game four times in a row to get the good ending, although the info I've found on the Internet says that there are no differences between the "quests." If it would be allowed, I can make a hack (a simple one-byte change) that would give you the good ending after the first time through.

The only game that immediately comes to mind is Nintendo World Cup (NES), but I'm not sure if I've ever played against a person before. I also played Jetpack Christmas Edition (PC) very much when I was young (it came with the 486), so I have established, but not necessarily optimal, routes/strategies for completing all of the levels.

Based on some testing that I did earlier, I think the shortest input time for a complete match is around 5:55. My result was USA 1 - 0 Cameroon. this is me: I made a playaround in 2005, but I never submitted it (thread here). I don't have the FCM any longer, but I did encode the match and put it up on YouTube (quality isn't very good, unfortunately):If I can get enough suggestions/ideas for interesting goals, I'm open to making another playaround with more frame advance and re-recording utilization.

I only got #45 without any help, so... I did recognize some of the others but couldn't name the games.

The first TAS I saw was probably Wizards & Warriors III by Ferret Warlord. I was planning to make a walkthrough for the game, and someone in an IRC channel I used to frequent linked to the TAS on this site. After spending some time figuring out how to watch the FCM, I was amazed by the shortcuts and boss fights. I joined the forum to ask Ferret Warlord and scubed for permission to include their findings in the planned walkthrough. I never finished the walkthrough; it turned into a document of possibly useful tricks for TASing the game. Around that time, I discovered the instant-death glitch for the final battle and used it to improve the then-published run.

Using the info that Tub posted, I was able to find this site and this site that were helpful with further searching. If you do a Google search for swarm.c xlock, it seems like you can find several versions of the source file for the swarm "screensaver" (the second link explains that it's not really a screensaver). The original does not appear to be for Windows, but the first link has a recreation of sorts for Windows.

Bezman: If fewer people know about the game, you're likely to get less feedback. Thus, it may take you longer to learn how to be picky about the quality of your work. At least, that's what I think Chamale meant.

I'm not quite clear on how you defined p and q. Is p the remainder when n is divided by 3, and q = n - p?

Wow, I didn't expect some of you guys to be so discouraging. dartht33bagger: If you're interested in programming for the NES, take a look at NESdev and/or Romhacking.net. They have a lot of documents and tools that will probably be helpful.

Here's a relatively simple, but potentially long, problem: Let the first 10 terms of the sequence a_n be 1, 6, 17, 36, 65, 106, 161, 232, 321, and 430 (n = 1, 2, ... , 10). Find an explicit formula for a_n in terms of n without a calculator, spreadsheet, or anything else that does the curve fitting for you. Also, prove that every term of a_n is an integer.

I'd like some clarification: Does each pirate get to vote only once throughout the entire process, or once per proposal?

Using "y" in a form that gets pronounced "i" (ee) could be considered cheating in the no-vowels challenge.
Why? The challenge was to create a paragraph that doesn't contain vowels, not one that doesn't contain vowel sounds.

On another note, in the novel The Davinci Code (spare me the lectures on authenticity, please), one of the characters states that English is the perfect language because it is such a conglomeration of other languages, due to it's lack of ties to any church or religion. Interesting.
Wouldn't English actually be the worst language by that reasoning since it has ties to all churches/religions of the languages it incorporates?

Is it even possible to have a two-sided polygon? I thought a polygon needs to be closed.
