hey i would love to see a speed run of it. i'm just saying that it would be extremely hard to do. i myself could'nt sit around a whole day watching it, but if the author could make say 10 "parts" or seperate movie files to view them in mabye an hour at a time that would be perfect to me. to me this is jsut a very rough estimate of how long it could take. 1.) running around leveling. you cant skimp on this. depending how hard the author is making the game for himself, 2 - 10 hours. for numbers sake, say 4. (this is killing all monsters on the way to the next person/area you need to go to) 2.) getting cash required for items. again you cant skimp on this. mabye 2 hours all up. 3.) leveling spells. this can be done with leveling, however at times you need to spend excess time getting spells 1 or 2 levels higher. if you want to do this game, you MUST do this. level 0 - 2 spells half way into the game (if you even make it that far) will get you killed by most bosses. this is where the time hit is. if you wanna do it right, i'd say about 4 - 8 hours. 4.) whole story line doing everything fast as possible without needing to level or anything. 7 - 10 hours. so all up about 21 hours. lol yes this is'nt a game that can be rushed. unless someone makes a hacked game run, where you start off with everything maxed then i can see it being done in mabye 4 - 5 hours. RPG games beyond secret of mana's time just are'nt doable in speed runs. Secret of Mana 2, or Seiken Densetsu 3 as its known in japan, is about 2x the size of SOM eaisly. me and my friend played together, worked our party out and everything and it still took us over 16 hours to get about 3/4 of the way knowing exactly what we were doing. we still did'nt finish it either... EDIT: Yggdrasil, if you mean the mana sword as in, trick the game to put you back at the 1st boss, the mantis ant, then yes it is doable. i did it with my rom that i had no problems. it is hard to do, but it can be done

secret of mana would be incredibly hard to do a speed run of and i dont expect to see one anytime soon. i have played this game to many times to count, and EVERY time that i have you need to spend time leveling your spells. there are no 2 ways about it. the 1st palace boss gigas or whatever it is, the diffrence between a level 0 and level 1 spell is huge. this alone would make the game insanely long. i doubt anyone could do it in under 5 - 8 hours. yes that is a long time but when you need to level a spell from 2 to 5, that takes a good 1 - 2 hours. again, i dont expect to see this speed run anytime soon. just to big.

i personaly dont see anyone doing a run of this game. it is just to damn long. i remember playing this as a kid and getting RIGHT up to the final boss, and agreeing to join him. much to my horror i was warped back to the 5th level or something. i never played it after this.

as a fan of the series, when i was like 13, it was 1 of the first animes i ever saw. Dragon Ball Z being the first when i was about 11 from a friends place (he was japanese) but anyways, i never played any of the sailor moon games myself but i would like to see a run through at least 1 of them. nearly any speed run is interesting to watch to at least some people. hell the shadowgate run bored the HELL out of me when i watched it (no offence caitsith2) but it was interesting as i never finished that game. so if you wanna make/post it i'd love to see it. hope it turns out cool

i was'nt sure where to put this as i could'nt find a mega man 2 thread on its own but this is a rather interesting glitch i know that works in at least the US version. if you hold right and left at the same time, and fire the metal blade weapon (from metal man) instead of flying across the screen, it stays in 1 spot forever. interesting huh?

since were talking about control pads heres what i think. EVERY console has always had bad control pads that felt uncomfortable at first. but eventualy your hands changed shape to use them lol. being that i have big hands, i feel like i'm gonna break every damn controler i pick up. wtf is it with people wanting tiny controlers? i want one that i can use well without having to twist and curl my fingers to push a button. is it really hard for these people to realise that? but if i had to pick 1 control that feels the best, i'd have to pick xbox. so far this is the only one i'm able to hold well enough without problems. but thats all i like about it, button layout sucks, the whole controller design sucks but its easy to hold for me

kind of. there is a wonder boy for genesis that is a side scrolling, POS game, and then wonder boy 5. you dont morph into any animals or anything like that. the closest you get is to change into a pygmi lol. you go along (going through a LOT of places you should remember from the sega master system wonder boy 3) doing quests for people which end up getting you the legendary sword which you use to get into the last castle (WB3 starting castle btw on sms) and yeah. i love it and think its the best one of the series. however because of the huge amount of quests and gold collections you would have to go through, i think this would put the game into about the 4 or so hour mark. :( to long for many people to want to do. oh yeah you also get helpers, like a little dragon, ghost thing with a scythe, fairy with a wand and a digging gnome person. get the rom and play it ^^ much fun to be had

here are a few games i'd like to see, not sure how fun to watch they would be though. wonder boy 5 - dragons trap. this would require lot of planning/skill as new armor/weps are always avaliable and usualy cost a LOT of money. toejam and earl - never could finish this. i remember it being quite hard kid chameleon - again never finished, but i remember it being damn awesome to play

when using "professional" in terms with nes speed runs, this means a few things to me personaly. 1.) wastes no time anywhere. even at places where waiting cant be helped, the player disguises this. 2.) every jump, and movement is for a reason. no random jumping. when waiting for something to happen (waiting for a platform to move into jumping range or so on) then i dont mind at all. 3.) every bullet/shot is counted for. as in the mega man series, every blaster shot connects with an enemy. no spare shots flying off the screen. 4.) conserves all health unless it is to save time. 5.) no glitches, unless it speeds up time significantly, or unless the point is to do a speed run/glitch run like the super mario bros. 1 video that shows nearly every possible trick and finishes in 12min. now they are just my personal thoughts. i'm not claiming any 1 video is better than another, but there are a few videos on this site that to me make all these points. (the mega man 3 - 6 movies) so to say that 1 video is more "professional" is simply a matter of taste. everyone has diffrent aspects on what they define to be professional.

i think thats a good idea myself. have a speed run section like the site is now, but just add up another part that has special runs like without killing a single enemy, or mega man done using nothing but normal blaster (with the exception of when the rush parts need to be used) that would be pretty cool to see i think.

i'm sick of these people myself. we dont claim to be experts at this and never have. people do this simply to entertain people and show them the "ideal" run through classic games that were once near impossible for us to beat when we fight played them as kids. (admit it, when you first saw Zelda 2 in under and hour you were like WTF!) it still takes a lot of time and dedication to make these videos and that deserves credit. people who say we cheat just dont understand why we do these

the exact same thing happens to me to, kirby's adventure, rygar, castlevania 2 and solstice dont work for me. they run, but they dont do what they are supposed to. it seems as if the timing for the button presses are desynced to the actual game. i dont know how to fix this either as i only know 1 place to get roms and they are only the US versions. all the other fmvs i've tried have worked

i have a VERY annoying problem with famtasia 5.1. i play for roughly 1 min - 1 1/2 mins then my game (and my entire pc too) will freeze for around 3 secs then everything will keep going. i dont know why it does this. i've deleted 5.1 and redownloaded it and it still does it. when this happens too if i dont reload before the freeze happened my fmv files become broken. this never used to happen then all of a sudden its driving me crazy. im not sure if you need my pc specs but here they are anyways... amd xp 2600+ @ 2.1ghz 512mb pc3200 ram asus a7n8x-x MoBo ati radeon 9800 120mb
