Easy there, Arflech. We share plenty of videos on this site that are just "Hey, look what I did!" bits.

The encoding for this movie gets pretty badly desynced (desunc?) starting on the first cycle, third stage or thereabouts. Unfortunate. Still, a nice run. Thanks, Xipo!

I'm inclined to agree with Warp. A game dedicated to the shooty-shooty without any shooting is missing something important. :\

Enemies will also be more spread out soon enough, so that bombs won't be sufficient to kill them all. There's a lot of dead time between the action-y bits, though. :\

Looking good! Even with the occasional bout of lag this run should be very entertaining. :)

I don't think anyone's willing to start working on a run without knowing ahead of time if it's going to be accepted. You should contact a moderator and ask.

Assuming this is the run in question, I agree, there are clearly areas where you could do a normal jump instead of a bomb jump. I don't think it's possible to do a midair morph if you only have three tiles to work with, but there were plenty of situations where you had more headroom. In general, I would say that if you've made a submission for Super Metroid without showing it to any of the experts on these forums, then it contains at least one mistake. :) There's too many niggling little details about TASing Super Metroid. If you want to make your submission a surprise, you can try contacting the experts directly (Um, off the top of my head and in no particular order there's Kriole, CPAdolf, Saturn, Hero of the Day, and Moozooh; I'm sure I'm missing at least one other).

I look forward to seeing an encode, preferably with the mentioned extra scripts running. :) Additionally, it'd be nice to give a brief overview of the goals you have to accomplish during the game, so we have some familiarity with what exactly you're doing.

The problem with the detailed submission text is that it has next to nothing to do with the movie. :)

Glitches are not the only thing we care about. :) It's also important to surprise us, to do things that look impossible, or are funny.

Can you let us know how much money is needed at the start, and on an ongoing basis? That would help people figure out what an appropriate donation (given their personal resources) would be.

What we do for console games that require a savefile is for the submitter to include a movie that generates the savefile along with the movie that uses that savefile. It seems like we should be able to do something similar for these time-release unlocks: include a movie that spends the necessary time to get the unlock, and then make the TAS start from a savestate made at the last frame of the verifying movie. The biggest problem I see with that approach is that the times being bandied about could make for absolutely massive movie files when uncompressed (and possibly even when compressed, depending on the format for the file).

I doubt that it is possible, because not only do you need to die before you gain that extra life, you have to stay dead for a while, otherwise the fadeout won't trigger. Even with bombs there is often just barely enough time to trigger the fadeout before getting the extra life.
Ahh, good call. Oh, well.

That has got to be the most mellow Gradius music I've ever heard. :) Looking at that video, I think you definitely need to max out on Options. They'll give you a lot more room for making designs by flying around, even if you decide to not otherwise max out your offensive capabilities. I like Moozooh's suggestion too.

You should write a short story in the background while TASing the game. :)

Max points is an interesting goal that I hadn't considered. Of course, you'd need to ignore the sections where infinite enemies spawn. Or do they not count towards your score? I found this on YouTube, which is a deathless run that seems to be fairly well-made (judging from the first level; haven't watched the rest).

I'm beginning to think that TASVideos is not quite cut out to handle most street fighter submissions. They're vastly different in goals and style from the rest of our videos, and the audience that is deciding whether or not they get published is not the audience that watches most street fighter videos on the rest of the Net. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have any street fighter videos on the site...it's more that I think our standards tend to be vastly different from those the street fighter experts are used to working towards. As for the video, I stopped watching after a few minutes because I felt I'd seen everything that Cody had to offer. There's only so much entertainment I can derive from watching flawless victories. I'm going to abstain from voting.

How much would it increase the page load time? My browser says that the SNES movies page is 262KB (for just the HTML), and has 112 movie images on it, which look to be on the order of 9KB each, for a total of around 1MB worth of image data. So the images are already four times the size of the page HTML, and are therefore the limiting factor on downloading page information. Expanding that seems like a bad idea; it'll make the page load even more slowly than it already does.

I'm inclined to agree with Nineko. The movie listings would look incredibly chaotic if most of the images were blinking. Perhaps there should be some support for archiving screenshots that are suggested as part of a submission so the submitter can call out their favorite moments? Edit: fixed spelling.

Given that one of the accomplishments is "ask for help", I didn't feel too much like a cheater for actually reading the descriptions of some of the achievements. Still, yes, an amusing game.

I actually found the bossfights in this run more entertaining just because they're all different. In one Maria just blasts the boss with a huge gout of flame; in the next she pogo-jumps it to death; in the last she does something to start glowing yellow before beating the crap out of Shaft. Whereas Richter's run is 1000 Blades, then Hydro Storm, Hydro Storm. None of which are very interesting as I've seen them all before.

The video doesn't load for me -- I click on the big button in the Flash widget, and my browser gets stuck on "Waiting for smile-clb61.nicovideo.jp...". Is there a non-Nicovideo source?

It'd be a real shame if it wasn't accepted with the site accepting Mario and Metroid hacks. Just don't see why it would be denied when the patch can be checked for integrity and it's only a translation. Never really understood the policy on translation patches and why they aren't accepted.
My reasoning on this is that translation patches don't actually change the gameplay in any significant way; it's the same game, justs with a different language. That in mind, you could simply play the original language version and be assured of playing the game the way it was "meant" to be played. The Mario and Metroid hacks, in contrast, are effectively completely different games using the same engine.

SDR: very few people on this site are experts with the Street Fighter series. Most of us do not know exactly how the games work. So it is a good idea to try to explain anything that would look strange. :)

Didn't play with the "Now Loading" message. Voting no. :p It's like Maria's moveset was expressly designed to make navigating the grand staircase in the chapel easy. Why did you visit a saveroom before fighting Medusa? What happened there? It looked like Maria clipped through the ceiling for a bit in Olrox's Quarters while doing her flying kick. Or maybe she just has a really weird hitbox when she does that move. Could you please explain the different moves? What was the attack you used on Shaft? Overall, it seemed reasonably well-made, though I have this vague feeling that the movement could be significantly more optimized. Nothing specific; the movie just didn't feel "tight" to me. However, I enjoyed watching it, so you get a weak yes.
