Example of game version and name is: USA Mega Man 2 =) Hah! Forgot to tell about the control: the weapons can be changed only in one way and changing weapons slow down Duke!

Note: during the discussion, please don't compare the game to Doom, Wolfenstein 3D etc because I have already explained the working of game mechanics, but if you know sth else, write please! For those who interested: Don't try to run away in Lunar Space! The "room" is small and invisible walls are next to teleports!

Even your interests in that is a good sign for us! I'm a noob too (I made lots of fun TA Superplays, but not Speedruns, so there are no movie to submit yet)! Don't be upset, if your sth run won't be published: it means that you have lost something, but you have your run as a perfect example to remake it and our community is always ready to help you (at least there are some people who always can help)! You did the right thing that began TASing from a NES game, it gives you a good practice and you can meet every possible TAS tool to make the run better and easier in making! Good luck!

Yeah, thanks for the advice! I think this will be correct: EDIT: The movie is deleted because a new improve is done!

I was interested in Duke Nukem for a long time, but then I found out that Duke Nukem 3D was realised for Genesis, only in Brazil! I'm not sure that somebody is still interested in this port. I made a TAS of the 1st map (from 9) on Piece of Cake difficulty. EDIT: The movie is deleted because a new improve is done! I can't say the game is good for play (Zero Tolerance is better), I explained all problems in the video, but it is TASible. The question to interested or pro people: It is known that in most cases TAS should be done on the hardest difficulty, but is it advisable to TAS this game on it?? There will be so many enemies, they'll do more damage, they'll be fast (especially blow-up drons)! I just won't manage to run past them! Generally the game will transform into shoot'em up and TAS will become playthrough. I ask this question because of the specificity of this game. Thanks and enjoy =)

Hello everybody! I'm Dimon12321 and I'm glad to become a member of this awesome site where almost all like games nostalgia, but today let's discuss some modern games! After I registered and submitted the first my TAS, Doom 64, some people checked my channel and asked me how did I make TASes on Streets of Rage Remake, so let's answer: Probably most people still don't know that TASing PC games (though without mouse) is now possible! I used Hourglass (by the way, is it still developing?). First my TASes on SORR were with allowed multithreading and wait sync (Boss Rush, Events and Double Dragon Remake mod) and the game crashed a lot (looks like it's so difficult to load the state some times!). Link to video - a playlist with all my TASes (lots of them are about SORR and mods). Firstly I tried to play main storyline without multithreading, but the game "stops working, not crash" after I chose new game or select stage, so I thought it's impossible to TAS SORR without multithreading, but later I discovered that TASing without multithreading is possible, so let's see how: Mods (created SOR games): without multithreading it's impossible to get past the Stage Clear screen, so I renamed the stage files in the folder with the mods and deleted files of the first stage! Example: stage8b.fpg ==> stage1a.frg, but Hourglass can only open stages which are named in letter order (a, b, c, d and so on)! Thats why all stages in mods are the first! Main storylines: it was hard to find the way how to bypass the selection of new game! You need to open the game, select the stage and choose character and when your character appears on the stage, you should close the game by clicking on the cross of the window! A game savestate appears in: your folders/Streets of Rage Remake 5.0/savegame. Then open and play the game in Hourglass, SORR loads the savestate and you play in main storyline! P.S: you still can't go bypass the stage clear screen! It won't be published unless you pass all storyline in one segment =) Link to video - in playlist there are all stages of SOR 2 route! All my TASes on SORR are maken for fun and are aimed for entertainment, so I'd better jeer at sth enemy than save some seconds! I TASed Survival, Events, Boss Rush. From mods: The Hydra, Ultimate, A Syndicate Story, SOR 3 for SORR and Brutal Justice. Games on OpenBOR (Beats of Rage) engine: it was created in 2004 and based on Streets of Rage 2. All games should work without multithreading, but you should try the game on Wrap multithr. and then without it and if it works in both regulations, you totally can TAS it! In my mind the only problem is if game crashes on "Opening BOR" or Loading... screens (Mortal Kombat Unlimited, Shiva and Lisa 2 for example)! I think every game on BOR can be TASed if someone could cut this screens! When I tried Shiva and Lisa 1, the game worked great and I made so entertaining first 2 stages, but when I changed the multithreading, the game became crash, so be careful! Link to video Link to video Post-Scriptum: I moved to Windows 7 and now I can't play SORR without mutlithreading though I'll try to TAS it more on Windows XP emulator. Read descriptions of the movies to know why and what! Now you know how to TAS Streets of Rage Remake and games on OpenBOR engine! Enjoy and have a nice TAS!

I would be very interested in following this project. I'm a big advocate of console versions of FPSes, and there really needs to be more research into them and to celebrate the differences between them and the PC versions as well as seeing speedruns and TASes on consoles. Also, if you're interested in Saturn games (again, an under-researched and underappreciated area), and FPSes in general, I'd very much like to see a TAS of Hexen - imo the Saturn version is the best of all the console versions (and I've played both that and the PS1 version as well as on PC).
No, this is my first experience in Saturn games! If I will TAS Hexen, I'm not sure my movie will be published: always can be found route, which is faster than mine! I read in wiki that button on one level can open the door on the other and etc. Thank you for the advice!

Good day, everybody! I have a technical problem with one of my games for Saturn: DooM. Forums which are dedicated to Doom didn't help me with that. Probably my problem is little known. I'd like to play and maybe TAS this game for fun though I found it only once in wishlist, but have problem with gameplay: I opened this game on Yabause and Bizhawk: no one shows the objects, my pistol and map itself (only mountains). Also there is no fire when name DooM appears. How to fix it?? I changed render type from Software to Open GL, the graphic became much better, but there is nothing on the screen excepting mountains! Bios: v1.0 (U+E).

No I did... that made me more pissed off so I didn't bring it up. Why? Because PCSX2 without rr is a normal emulator lacking TAS elements. Edit: You just have to be patient with 2 things. 1. The next Graphics + Version update which will fix this error. 2. The next rr Build.
Aarr... when was the last build? Everyone give links on pcsx2.exe of December, 2010 change and it is beta r2186. It's 2014 now. Are you sure that someone still works on rerecording?

Can PrBoom rerecord LMPs in DOS DOOM compatiblity mode? I think at least some source ports can actually do that. The problem with PC DOOM TASing is HELLISHLY high standards.
I was doing it for interest. I want to TAS one of Doom wads: Freedoom, but I don't know how to do that! Someone told me about recordfromto command, but I could not figure it out! Arm... there are lots of TASes on Doom wads on Sp00kyfox's channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6RFRq8iiKqhst5d_FVtBmQ , and I'm sure something can be accepted! Also I found a programme on Doomed Speed Demos Archive named TASDooM for DOS Doom. I don't know anything about it and it doesn't open on my PC, but I think it can.

Thirdly: The emulation is stable in playback! When you hit F12 on your keyboard to dump the video. DO NOT USE A SCREEN CAPTURING PROGRAM (I saw your mouse and closed the video ASAP). Edit: If you're going to mention a graphics problem it's due to the plugin itself. Crash Twinsanity has not been solved for graphics as an example. Edit 2: This was a mini test I did back in the day. Link to video I got 14fps average when creating this. Dumped it and it ran at 60fps. Also you can see there is a minor graphic issue to it too. Another Mini test was with Klonoa 2: Link to video On the 2009 version there is a programing glitch where something gets stuck on the ground and you cannot progress on. Average fps was about 8. Dumped it and it ran at 50fps (PAL GAME. PAL SPEED)
AAAr! Sure! Forgot about dumping! I used Fraps. You didn't read the discription, I used PCSX2 1.2.1 (last version) after rerecording PCSX2, but the game was glitching anyway!

You should use Memory Hacking Software if you aren't already. It's a generic RAM Watch/Search that's really useful for emulators that don't have it built in.
I use RAM Search for the 1st time, because other games I TASed (for fun) just doesn't need RAM Search

As much as it will feel like you will never, ever be done with the TAS when frame-advancing, this is the only way to ensure that the input is optimal. It can take a while to get used to it (I know it took me a long time), but it will have a significant impact. I also recommend going with BizHawk. While the N64 support does have some challenges the framework around it is worth it. If you have any specific bugs definitely post about it in the BizHawk thread. Lastly, chin up - TASVideos has extremely high standards. I've submitted a run and had it rejected for not being as optimal as it needed to be and it wasn't fun but it goaded me on to do better the next time. Thanks for your work on this and best of luck! A.C. ******
No, I use frame-advance! I just checked the speed of my running: on Mupen64's 10% speed I run faster than on Bizhawk's 12% speed, but on normal speed I run the same speed on both emulators! I just need to get accustomed!

There is a version of Mupen64-rr with Lua support. I presume that could be used to watch memory addresses.
Can you give me a link on it?
Just use BizHawk, since that already has lua implemented. :P
I have already tested bizhawk: it worse than mupen64, but without ram watch my game can't be totally TASed! How to find HP of an enemy? How many bites it is and what's its display? His health is 4000 for example, so his value should be 4000 or 00004000, right?
That's how we clearly see that you have less knowledge than us in TASing (having less than me is a crime :o! I'm a bad TASer!)... You never used Mupen or what? Mupen is the worst emulator for TASing, it does not have lua support and less stable for sync, Bizhawk is multi emulator, it have lua support, RAM Search / Watch without MHS and it has much chances of sync!
I don't know! I had no desyncs while TASing Doom 64!

Damage range manipulation The nature of weapons in this game is such that damage is dealt on a range from a minimum to a maximum value every shot. This means that enemies that usually take three rockets can take two rockets if you are lucky, or 4 rockets if you are unlucky. This applies to a majority of the enemies in the game, and the TAS fails to manipulate the randomness to ensure enemies are always killed with the least amount of ammo (and in turn shortest amount of time) whenever possible.
I read this before from you, but it only can be done by the method of trial and mistakes, because there is no RAM Watch in Mupen64.
Why not use BizHawk second time around? It has RAM watch
