Honestly, it was mostly Rainbow being an ass. I felt more concerned with how dangerous a place Ponyville seemed to be. They really need to work on that, the death road in particular, kinda makes you wonder who designed that town in the first place...

Heh, this is kind of turning into pointless bickering, which this thread has already has enough of. So this is my last post on the matter, feel free to respond or whatever but I'm leaving it here.

I never said that, you however did say:

Which at least in my eyes implies that most (90% counts as most, right?) female ponies were presented as better than males. I posted examples of females behaving just as badly as any of the males. Comparing ponies you probably haven't seen against ponies you've probably never seen either might not have worked well to get the point across ^^. The only thing I'm arguing here is the severity of your statements. Words like "Overwhelmingly" and "Profoundly" don't really fit with what actually happens in the show. There simply isn't enough relevant content(male ponies) to form an opinion of this strength. Snips and Snails are exceptions, they are profoundly stupid. Your question was if the rest of the male ponies in the show are presented in a similar manner. They are not, nopony is.

Wow, guess my initial impression was no mistake. Males are depicted in an overwhelmingly negative/stupid manner in this show.

"Slight" seems like a huge understatement here! Compare this to the female characters, 90% of whom are good, and the other 10% who typically have redeeming qualities.
Erm, no? Snips and Snails are incredible morons yes. And Blueblood is a blight on society but I'd more say he's a hit on royalty than his gender. He's basically only male because Rarity isn't. The only reason Photo Finish (ep 20) is any better than Hoity Toity is because she speaks in a funny accent and has a silly theme song. The Jocks aren't nearly as bad as Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon(ep 12). Braeburn doesn't do much besides being excited and trying to defend the rights of his town. The Sheriff pretty much only agrees that Pinkie's song is horrible and then throws apple pies. And the only thing we see Soarin do (with moderate success) is buy and eat an apple pie, he is still a member of the Wonderbolts though, that has to count for something. The "problem" isn't that they're depicted in a negative manner, it's that they're barely depicted in any manner at all. Fact is: most characters outside of the Mane 6 are somewhat anti-social or bumbling fools, regardless of gender (Trixie, Gilda, Derpy, Bon Bon, the Mayor seems to be trying to run the town on good will alone, Celestia is a damn troll, the CMC pretty much runs around and fails at stuff for like 4 episodes). Not to mention how much the Mane 6 themselves seem to fail at things: Rarity almost kills herself with hubris. Rainbow Dash almost kills Fluttershy through inconsideration. Fluttershy fails utterly at anything not related to diplomacy. Pinke Pie pretty much starts a war. Twilight still has major problems with social conventions. And Applejack... er, does all that stuff in ep 4 I guess. Also S02E04 was awesome and stuff :D.

Arguments aren't inherently uncivilized, you all silly. They can often devolve into pointless bickering if they go on for too long, but talking about your differing opinions is generally a good thing. Love and Tolerate, guys. That said, IronSlayer, not liking the show is fine, but based on the points you made, I would implore you to watch 1 or 2 more episodes before totally writing it off. The first two aren't very representative, and the 3rd is in the lower end of the quality spectrum that the show provides. While I'm not really a fan of the end-of-episode-lectures either, I can cut it some slack for being a kid's show at heart. And they're not nearly long or obtrusive enough for me to find them annoying. I also can't agree with them being bad lessons, nothing revolutionary for the older audience, sure, but reinforcing "Trust in your friends" and "Don't judge a book by the cover" (what most of them amount to :P) seems like a pretty decent message to me. And about the humor, I've straight out laughed at the show probably every episode, but I wouldn't object to someone calling my sense of humor juvenile either, so bah.

So obvious spoilers and stuff, you really should stop reading this topic and just watch the episode if this is an issue :P. But anyway, Discord getting petrified almost from stupidity alone brings the episode down quite a few notches for me. He shows close to omnipotent powers and could have done pretty much whatever he wanted to stop it... They literally strut up to him, announce that they're going to turn him to stone and he does nothing. Sure, he was supposed to be cocky about it, but he's been hit with the elements before and should know what they're capable of, and it's not like the visual cues to tip him off that his corruption's wore off are subtle. Sigh, he was an awesome villain and it was just a really stupid way for it to end. Also, Fluttershy supposedly able to gain on Rainbow in a chase through sheer willpower... with a balloon attached... Applejack's lying sounding more like snide sarcastic remarks and without the accompanying "poker face" that made it funny in the first place. And the corruption fix amounting to Twilight telling everyone to stop being an ass... with magickz! But those are more minor complaints. Then again, Flutterbitch, Thom, Discord and chaotic Ponyville were all amazing and while the episode had potential to be better, it was great ^^.

100% runs for Castlevania games can be really hit-or-miss as far as entertainment goes. For instance, this CotM submission was rejected, whereas this Symphony of the Night movie got rave reviews for the most part.
To be fair though, the CotM was aiming for the "ingame" 100%, which means entering all rooms. I never actually watched the run (because I'm not a fan of CotM), but that sounds like an... odd goal for a watcher to follow, and the comments and rejection text seem to reflect that. The SotN run was going for "all items" however. I haven't watched this yet either (encode would be nice anytime now ^^;) but I'm intrigued.

Oh I loved this game when I was younger! Never beat it without cheats back in the day either, but I've done it a couple of times semi-recently. Lots of movement potential and explosions will probably look awesome. But it is pretty laggy at times, and some segments may turn out pretty monotonous. I might give this a shot. REPOST-EDIT: Yeah... couldn't get the game to run at all. Maybe sometime later :P.

Also, for those of you actually starting watching, don't listen to anybody who says to start anywhere that isn't the pilot, they're dumbs. Start with the pilot, watch in order, give it five episdoes before you pass your final verdict. If you don't like it at that point, you're probably never going to like it.
The pilot is a decent introduction to the characters and the world, but I don't really think it represents the tone of the series overall. In case of someone being very adamant on using a single episode to determine the quality of the show, there are plenty of episodes that do this better. (Bridle Gossip, Winter Wrap Up, Feeling Pinkie Keen, Sonic Rainboom or Green Isn't Your Color. Possibly Applebuck Season, Dragonshy or Suited for Success. I would almost recommend Party of One as it is imo the best episode, but it won't have nearly the same impact if you don't have the chance to get comfortable with the characters first ^^.) I do agree with the 5 episode cutoff though (I usually say 4 since I don't really like Griffon the Brush-Off, but eh.) Other than that, it should obviously be watched in order, it airs in a certain order for a reason.

PREPOSTEROUS! I've always been a fan of Tara Strong, even though she doesn't really stand out here because everyone in the show does a great job. Not really liking Twilight as a character doesn't help either... And are you Loco in the Coco? Everyone knows Pinkie Pie is best pony. /Opinons lol/ But for serious, I find it interesting that some of the parts you're mentioning negatively are among my favorites in the show :P. There are enough diversity in the show for anyone to find something they like I suppose.

To that I propose that accountability (both in the form of various punishments and shame or whatever in the case of morals) works as a deterrent. And even though our brains are deterministic, knowing that a punishment exists as a consequence certainly makes an action less desirable. Which means having punishment for an undesirable action greatly reduces instances of this action, for the good of society. Now there's also the moral question on if any kind of punishment is justifiable. And I would say it is as long as the possibility of punishment was known by the offender prior to the action in question. Which clearly creates edge cases with fairly subjective or hard-to-define actions (getting thrown out of a bar or club for being an all-around asshole for example :P), and that's one of the reasons why we have lawyers!

As a huge fan of Melee, I found this run amazing and have to give it an easy Yes vote. However, I can totally understand how most of this stuff isn't nearly as impressive and entertaining to someone not very intimate with the game's engine, which is a shame.

The route planning for this must have been a nightmare :D. Overall, the run is fast-paced, has some creative solutions and is very entertaining. Yes vote.

While I agree, I think it only applies when the vote in question diverges from the norm. And in the same vein, I'd like some insight into one's opinion if they vote yes on a movie with mostly negative feedback thus far.

I have to agree with others that this run isn't different enough from what happens in the original SM64 to warrant a publish. The hack looks kind of interesting though, and I'm sure a longer run (100% or no BLJs) would have a much improved reception.

Watched the Youku vid and was way more entertained than I guessed I would be from reading the feedback. Not much really spectacular happened but the character variety and relatively short length kept it from growing stale. So solid work and a (now useless) yes vote from me. Will be looking forward to an improved version.

I quite like the save corruption runs. It usually results in a pretty bizarre and (hopefully) short experience. And as mentioned, it's not that hard to separate runs using corruption from runs that don't.

I am pretty fast at mashing, can get up to about 13 presses per second. Though I don't really trust my memory on FF8 all that much since I haven't played it in 10+ years, but I remember getting 160~170 on Quetzalcoatl and I remember Qeutz having a decisively shorter boost period than all other GFs. But I was mostly scoffing at Eden being the only one possible to get to 250 :P.

Oh yeah, the Shiva boost up to 250 ... I think that could be a suggested screenshot too, mainly because it's not possible in real gameplay, my record on Shiva was 161... only one possible to go up to 250 normally is Eden x.x
Pfft, I could get up to 250 on several, Eden is slow enough to reach 250, lose it and get back up there... multiple times. I'd like to remember I managed 250 on every GF but Quetzalcoatl, but it's been a long time since I played the game :P.

Wow guys, seriously, let people have opinions. Maybe someone thinks an 8 hour run doesn't belong on TASvideos. With attitudes like these coming from the community, I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't dare to publicly announce their opinion. As for the actual run itself, if the last two discs are as good as the first two, this will probably be a yes from me as well. I'll watch the rest when I actually get home.

The crash is a result of the code equipping everything in the inventory simultaneously. This includes the Spazer and Plasma beams, which is a combination that is already known to crash the game when shot (with a few exceptions).
