Hello.
I thought to try out the new DOS core by TASing "The Secret of Monkey Island", specifically the enhanced CD-ROM release with the music recorded from a Roland MT-32 on Red Book audio. However, for whatever reason, the audio doesn't play at all. I did check the standalone DOSBox-X application on Windows and there the music played fine. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with BizHawk?

In the DOSBox-x settings, there's a setting called "Mount Formatted Hard Drive". By default, there's none, but you can change it to a hard drive of different sizes, from 21 MB up to 2014 MB. Go to https://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/DOSBox for more details. If you have a formatted hard drive, you must mount it with the Multi-disk Bundler alongside the iso you're playing the game from.

First and foremost - it's incredible to finally see ANYONE succesfully jumping the mythical 2.5 in High Jump, which is pretty much thought to be impossible!! (at least on PC version)
This is really a white crow! : )
The whole run is pleasant to the eye, thank you for making this : )
Got a question - this seems slightly unoptimized in hmm, one of two ways.
One way would be reaching best possible scores which is surely done in Archery, Pole Vault and High Jump. I'm not sure how the rest looks in Genesis version, but (at least comparing to PC version, which could be of course vastly different in some areas) scores could be better in Equestrian (managed 1:03,62, but someone achieved an ever lower time), Kayaking (1:17,81), 400m Hurdles (21,43s), Javelin (99,08 m) and Cycling (42,18s). Take a look at these, some are not listed on YT, so might as well paste all my links:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-m4_LLzY0Qhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogZh4sU8iTMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quvzzydjqFEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr5iqr-lcSghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZnVkRxM_-U
Naturally, these could be only possible on the PC version, especially Equestrian and Kayaking look totally uncomparable version to version.
Second way would be managing a score just a hair in front of the next contestant, or finishing as soon as possible (assuming this is not a playaround). So _perhaps_ letting go of the Pole in Pole Vault tiny bit faster (tho it looks optimized), shooting arrows faster and achieving a lower score as well - next contestant had 107 points, and throwing a bit worse distance in Javelin (93m or even less would do the trick) would likely achieve a lower time.
Really interested how it looks in Genesis version tho : )
Also!, would you be up to trying Winter Challenge, and PC version of the game as well?
Wow, thank you for these kind words. I am working with Winter Challenge at the moment. I've considered the PC version, but I haven't got either JPC-RR or PCem (via WSL) properly working. I will try to lower the times of Equestrian, Kayaking, 400m Hurdles, Javelin and Cycling as soon as I can.

Hey, everybody.
So, I recently been trying out Paper Mario on the latest version of BizHawk (version 2.10) on the Mupen64Plus core and for some reason, neither the Japanese version nor the USA version doesn't boot at all, but the European version plays just fine. Also, on version 2.9.1, the Japanese version boots just fine, but the game doesn't load Peach's letter at the start of the game. I have no idea what is happening, can someone please help?

How did you pass the mii screen the first time?
Simple, I just downloaded Mii Maker, ran it on Bizhawk and, to quote Todd Howard, "It just works".

Released in Japan on December 1, 2016, in North America and Europe on December 2, and in Australia on December 3, the 3ds version of Super Mario Maker is an odd game release. For example, you can't share the levels you make online, despite the feature being present on the original Wii U version. But for what it's worth, there is a speed running community and the current WR of Super Mario Challenge (the category I'm trying to run) is 1 hour, 47 minutes and 26 seconds.
Naturally, I wanted to make a TAS of this game, but I seem to be unable to do so. Here's the problem visualized with two videos. The first is live gameplay recorded directly with Bizhawk to prove that the game works. The second is a screen recording made with OBS to show that I have so far been unable to make a TAS.

I... have no words. Like what's the deal? Is this a 100% run that was abandoned once the runner realized it was horribly unoptimized? The subcategory implies he's trying to get a quick Game Over or simply die as early as possible, but he doesn't even do that. The run ends when he dies touching a Goomba in 1-2. I think what happened is he decided to record a TAS in real time, but he didn't know how to use save states.

Emil_Borg I have one question about the goal for "Best Score". You stated that you wish to complete this in as few strokes as possible, but is this method also the fastest way to complete the game? Or is there another faster method of beating this game with more strokes?
I think it's slower if you aim for Par. In hindsight, I should have matched it with the Neo Turf Masters TAS https://tasvideos.org/5874M
So just to verify this submission would be equivalent to an Any% aka Fastest Completion?

A couple questions.
1) Which version was this tas made on? I see that v1, v2, v3, v4, v5, and v5.5 exist.
2) How precise can you change the angles? I see that you have a lot of circling around the hole at the end on almost every stage. Could you not just precisely aim at the hole and get Mario in the Hole asap?
3) Can you control Mario at all after "releasing" him towards the hole?
4) Can the camera be controlled?
1. This was made in version 5.5.
2. I don't know exactly how precise the angles are, but I do know that there two ways to change the angle. The D-Pad is used for precise angles and the C buttons are used to quickly change angles.
3. No.
4. Yes.
