I wanted to check the updated submission because I have to make a minor revision on the run by removing 38 seconds of it. I started to work on the improvement run shortly after I first submitted the Kirby: Canvas Curse and uploaded the user file into the discussion of #9371: Evan0512's DS Kirby: Canvas Curse "glitchless" in 55:39.51. I created this movie from scratch and found improvements, but the sync settings were changed. I edited the submission info and replaced the encode after I improved my submission. I tried to put the improved run on the Discord server, the TAS feedback channel, but I heard no response.
Planned runs: Marble Madness (Arcade, Genesis J, GG/SMS) Proposed: Ecco the Dolphin (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD: regular, camera freeze) Ecco: The Tides of Time (Genesis, GG/SMS, CD; normal mode) Mario Kart DS (all cups, all missions) In progress: Grand Poo World 3 (all exits hard mode)

I made another movie that was an improvement of the previous, shaving off about 38 seconds of the run User movie #638673212064738266

After completing the Kirby Mass Attack run (post details in Post #532568), I was trying to review the run before I could submit this movie file. When I compared this run with the only RTA speedrun, I noticed some emulation differences in these runs, most notably the lag count. I found out that the Nintendo DS has more lag than the Wii U VC, but running on the Nintendo DSi mode results in the same lag as the DS (there are no significant differences when running this game on the DS and DSi mode). I do not know if the regional differences of this game were the factor of the difference of having more or less lag on this run. I tried to review the Kirby: Canvas Course by enabling real BIOS on the Nintendo DS and disabling the skip firmware. However, I can't change the sync settings inside the movie file, meaning that this run desyncs when I try to put the firmware inside the folder. The final boss part of the Kirby: Canvas Course was mainly RNG based on the prior level movement, and likely the position of Kirby on the last phase of the final boss.

I am writing about the Kirby Mass Attack WIP (User movie #638653346931303393) that I recently completed. However, I was confused between the only RTA run and the TAS I am working on. I encountered more lag in this game and there was no improvement when I tried to change modes from DS to DSi. I don't know if there are regional differences (USA vs. Europe vs. Japan) that will impact the game's performance. Based on the movie that I made this month, the RTA timing of this run was 3:26:52.6. However, the in-game time is 3:22:25, which was faster than the fastest speedrun. I was still trying to double-check this run before I can submit it.

I want to ask a quick question about the SOS part. How different are the routes for the best endings for each character? If they're distinct in their own way in terms of routing and planning, it would make sense that each character's best ending route would be their own distinct branch. Also from I've been informed, there isn't any completed best ending TASes that exists to work with so you'd need to have someone make one if you need it for RTA purposes.
Routes for best endings were different because the character starts off at a different location of the ship. Then, after the ship started to sink, the character must get the characters stuck in the ship until there were at least 25 points (the point system for each character depends) and a specific character. There were four branches that led to four different best endings, and in SOS there were four different endings. The boiler room part remains the same, but to save time, the player must leave the passengers near the start and the player touches the fire near the end, losing 5 minutes, and the characters respawn near the end. There are specific requirements for characters stuck in the skip depending on which player you choose.

Hey there, I was thinking of submitting a movie into TASVideos for the glitchless version of the Kirby Canva Course, but I haven't encoded the WIP yet. User movie #638603222047170630 I have to ask questions because in the SOS game WIP (User movie #638442731540730749), the RTA run made a new route that improved the best ending run by a minute. Also, selecting Redwin for the best ending is faster than Jeffrey. I was thinking of re-recording the existing movie. Should I use an existing movie for optimization that improves the game RTA in SOS?

I recently finished a glitchless run of Kirby: Canvas Course. Since I intend to submit the movie file, I posted the full run as a WIP (User movie #638603222047170630). Using BizHawk 2.9.1, I tried everything possible to avoid glitches in Kirby: Canvas Course. It resulted in a time of 55:39 (RTA timing 55:34), but the frame rate is 59.826 instead of 60. I also found the in-game time to be 50 minutes because the movie starts at a fixed time of 1/1/2010 00:00. I need to double-check for both Paint Roller levels where the lines are missing while I draw something to reveal an image. I thought TAS must beat the record set for speedrun.com. In this case, it was at least 30 seconds faster than the fastest any% category (it was either glitched or glitchless; most speedruns in Kirby: Canvas Course were glitchless).

I was trying to make a TAS of a Flash game. Should I use the latest Ruffle version (2024-08-24) to emulate a Flash game? Also, I was having an issue while I was trying to install PCem in a Linux computer. LibTAS was installed, but in Debian Bookworm stable version, I got the error message while it is trying to install:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libwxbase3.0-0v5 (>=3.0.5.1+dfsg)
It doesn't work after I updated the packages of Linux.

The userfile of the hack (Grand Poo World 3) is what the creator submitted in full like it was released on November 17, 2023. Since this hack was rejected, I don't think there is progress, and I don't expect the hack to be released soon.

I wanted to ask a question if the game hack, Grand Poo World 3, was accepted. I looked on the internet and SMW Central about the hack in November 2023, but it was rejected several days later because of minor bugs, although the ROM hack is playable. I made two WIP movies of this game: the first movie (User movie #638401726796647053) is an unimproved version of all exits, while the second movie (User movie #638442731540730749) started from scratch and made all exits and completed the hard mode of the game with improvements. As I was thinking about starting an improvement, do I have to overwrite the movie from the load point in the middle of it? This game didn't appear on the SMW hacks list, so I found one on the user's filebin of SMW Central. It belonged to Barbarian (or BarbarousKing), and I don't know if it was accepted when I submitted this movie. The first two Grand Poo World versions of the series appeared on the list.

I found some bad news that the Citra emulator is discontinued because Nintendo sued the developer of the Nintendo Switch emulator yuzu that also developed Citra for $2.4 million, and piracy is the main reason why Nintendo forced to shut down the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS emulators.

I was able to run Chromium using Snap, and once the browser opens, the movie doesn't start. It was stuck with a ltm file of one frame.

I was trying to TAS a website like a Password Game using Firefox, and as the recording started, it immediately ended with
Could not remove socket file /tmp/libTAS.socket: Operation not permitted
I tried to launch with GDB, but it said,
Trying to start a game with attached debugger, but debugger cannot be found

I'm likely going to put the Password Game into the wishlist because it was a game inside the web browser and it's recently been released.

I started to think about how BizHawk handles compatibility. However, MelonDS only runs Nintendo DS and DSi games. I could not run a GBA game into melonDS because it only has one core for GBA. For example, original Game Boy games run in GBC and GBA respectively, but how about Super Game Boy? I could not run a Game Boy game inside the Super Game Boy cartridge on SNES.

I was trying to run Puzzle Pack on the TI-83+ calculator on BizHawk, but the game crashed after there is a firmware problem (.rom or .8xk instead of .bin). The game did not load and the error code looked like

I was trying to record a BizHawk movie on the SNES with mouse support. On the SNES9x core, the mouse does nothing, not even in the virtual pad. Some games require the mouse only like the Japanese exclusive game Mario and Wario. In BSNES, I think there is mouse support.

I don't know if I can do Mario and Wario, an SNES game released in Japan only and requires a mouse. Does BizHawk support SNES mouse?

I started making TAS about this game recently. Over several mini Bowser encounters, the one shown in this image warps to a location that benefits Mario by moving near the Jungle Area place. It was warping into a somewhat helpful location once I completed the 38th quest out of 50, it also saves time. I rolled a dice that landed on an 8 at 1:14:48.60, and mini Bowser shows up at 1:14:49.47 (frames 268093 to 268145).

For TASing Flash games, well, there's already Red Ball TAS, we'll just wait for ruffle to make red ball fully playable from start to finish so we convert these inputs to libTAS then we'll wait for their permission for submission. Link to video
I was trying to open Red Ball using Ruffle, but these controls don't work yet and I'm stuck at the screen, how to update Ruffle? I was still thinking about Hourglass, as Ruffle works on x86 exe. I think it works on that emulator. I also tried Snail Bob and Snail Bob 3, but it results in a blank screen (I was using WSL2 build of Ruffle).

I tried to start a game using
ruffle -g gl (game file).swf
(Snail Bob 1 and 3), I got that command that said
[2022-04-03T06:02:21Z ERROR ruffle_core::tag_utils] Error running definition tag: PlaceObject3, got failed to fill whole buffer
I waited for a minute, but nothing happened (the screen doesn't work). I heard that Ruffle updates the app once a day, I tried to update it using sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, but it doesn't update Ruffle. Maybe I should try using Ruffle in Hourglass (does Hourglass have mouse support)?

Is there a way to run HTML5 games from a browser on Hourglass/libTAS? I tried to install Ruffle, but I can't install a tar.gz file. Should I choose Windows (exe/zip) or Linux file (tar.gz/zip) to start the application?

I was having interest on planning TASes involving games used on websites (like Red Ball, Wheely, and Snail Bob). While I found some games running Flash and using SWF files, some games require a mouse to play. The same goes for HTML5 which I have to use the mouse to play a web game, like Kizi (a number of online games ranging from Red Ball all the way to Wheely 8 or Snail Bob 8.

I was trying to open a Nintendo DS ROM into Bizhawk 2.8, but I accidentally set the core to Nintendo DSi. Now, I can't change it back to Nintendo DS core because the firmware is not found. Update: Fixed that problem by editing true on DSi mode on config file to false.

Does it require Linux GUI on WSL2? I think the WSL2 I tested doesn't have GUI.
