I think I'll try to compete in the "bad cell phone picture" category. This was found in the Crabtree building at BYU. This one, which I submit to the "competition", was spotted on the boxes my sister and her husband used to pack and store their stuff over the summer. Couldn't help but think of Yoshi when I saw that. (the boxes were upsidedown, so I held the phone upsidedown to take the picture; that's why it turned out so bad)

At first I was kinda disappointed about skipping the ice cave and the well. Then I got to thinking... How would you define them as being "completed"? The obtainment of an item that's not going to be used anyway? If anything seems arbitrary, that does to me. These places don't have any point that, when reached, will kick you back out as being, "Done!" That means they are little more than caves wherein some items lie. Doing them is akin to getting the ice arrows. Seeing how they lack a clearly defined endpoint (I know there be those among you who will argue this point) without being useless and arbitrary, I support the decision. "But, Ferret, what of Ganon's trials? Those are pretty useless, aren't they" Do those not have a clearly defined endpoint? Get to the back and shoot the orb? That's the difference.

I'm hoping I'm understanding all this talk of blowing up the colony is related to getting to the last level as quickly as possible. Personally, I'd rather see this get treated as any other Megaman game, i.e. all bosses are beaten before tackling the final area.

When hitting an enemy with it, its power meter will go down before its health does. Leveling it up will cause the power meter to drain slower, allowing you to keep it on enemies longer before it starts taking damage. I have been looking forward to a run of this game. I am so happy to see work being done on it!

For my brother's wedding, my family (or rather, the women in our family) decided to whip up a Mario themed groom's cake. That was the extent of geekiness in that wedding.

I'll take this time to nominate both Rocket Knight Adventures and the SNES sequel Sparkster, plus the indie game Eternal Daughter. Also, Jet Force Gemini has one of my favorite boss tunes.

Truncated: Your first title, for some reason, reminds me of Act Fancer, with a greyish-white robot who collects powerups that make him bigger, but also give him more firepower. The second level is in a sort of tunnel as you described.

No, really, I did, and here it is. It's just 1:21, and covers the first few floors. I just made it to get an idea of what it would look like. You'll forgive the constant bunny hopping; each time I jump, I save a frame. I probably would have continued a little further, but at that point, the game's complexity absolutely explodes, and at the moment I don't feel like puzzling out a route for something I probably won't finish any time in the near future, if ever. Hopefully someone with a deeper knowledge of the game will pick it up. Edit: Okay, so my will caved in, and it turns out level 1 isn't as complicated as I thought. I finished it up while also improving what I had by around 20 frames (my ignorance of this game really showed: I had no idea what that green stick was or how to use it until recently). Download here. I am not going to do level 2 anytime soon.

Alright, another request for you all. This one is another arcade sidescroller. In it, you play as a ninja (two if it's two player) who seems to be a bounty hunter because each boss is displayed on a wanted sign before each level begins. Bosses include a cowboy, a crooked cop, and a football player, each with an appropriately themed level. Attacking is done via throwing weapons, which change upon being picked up. Pick up the same weapon twice, and you'll get an upgraded version. Also, there's a third button that, when pressed, turns your ninja into a sheet of glass. This renders him invincible, but immobile. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: I should probably mention that the graphical style is extremely cartoony. Some of it almost looks like something Jim Davis would do/approve of. Edit: I just found it. It's called Charlie Ninja (severe AV desynch in that video, but it's all the internet has).

Hey, I enjoyed them! Plus it seems people outside this site enjoyed your movies quite a bit, if Youtube and speedruns.net are anything to go by. The only reason why my reaction seemed somewhat "meh" was because arcade runs weren't being accepted here. That seems to be on the verge of changing. (oddly I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I want to do/would like to see at the moment :/)

* Ferret Warlord just finished playing through this game yesterday * Ferret Warlord decides to bump a two year old thread that generated next to no response to express interest in seeing a run get done * Ferret Warlord just wants to throw out there that the test run will not synch up if the the ROM used to record this movie wasn't the first game 9x was playing The test run does show that this game is publishable material. Classy how you beat the Indiana Jones knock-off to the top of the tree! ;P Is it just me, or does Ardy dress Swedish (or is it Swiss? I don't know)?

I love how this discussion quickly turned from console release patterns to controller vs. mouse and keyboard.

Well, I'd usually be jumping all over, but I promised myself I wouldn't waste as much time on this stuff. That, and I just noticed there's a PSX forum, and we're definitely not accepting those right now. Oh well. :| At least much progress has been made!

So, I take it that creating the Arcade Games forum means that we're now accepting FBA submissions?

In order for it to register your input, hold down the needed keys WHILE pressing the frame advance key. Edit: Ah, I now see you have a different issue. I'm not sure I understand your problem. Perhaps frame advance isn't set to N on your emulator. Try / or \. Also, for future reference, a better description of your problem aside from, "It just doesn't make sense," or, "It doesn't work," can be helpful in diagnosing your issue. Less, "I'm trying to do this and this is how it's coming," unless needed. Also, set up your keys to something you think would be more convenient. In VBA, it's Tools->Customize Hotkeys. For me, pause is always on shift and frame advance is on spacebar.

The trouble with your comments is that you're using spaces before each of your paragraphs to indent. Remove those spaces and your text will be fine.

How did you find that? Setting a breakpoint on read or just curiosity+luck?
Actually, it was discovered by mentally reverse engineering the game ending mechanic with the assumption that circumventing a pacifist run was a complete accident. With that assumption in mind, I thought, "What about that missile reload at the end prevents the game from ending early?" To which I theorized, "Well, they could have set all missile recharges to end the game once all the metroids are dead; ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem since the recharge at the end is the only one you're supposed to have access to at the end." So, theory in place, I tested it. And lo, it worked! As for D089, I didn't really bother finding it until I was about 13 minutes in and my brother encouraged me to find out how the metroid counter worked.

Dude, did you just say Bubble Bobble was dull and boring? I love that run! :O Edit: Just to add something actually constructive, the situation behind Combatribes wasn't that it's acceptance showed too much leniency, but that rather one of the authors of the movie was also a judge and publisher. Within ten minutes of it being submitted, Phil published it almost before anyone knew about it. As such, people cried foul, claiming abuse of power and personal bias. That they found it dull was auxiliary to that.

Oh what luck. I go away to finish up my game of Metroid Fusion and come back to see this! :P (~4 hours with 62% items; I know, I stink, but I didn't feel like going the back route through all the sectors to pick up items I didn't need for one boss fight :/)

This isn't a real-world doppleganger, but a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across my net dupe while poking around Photobucket. I wouldn't be surprised if this were the same guy who took my name on Youtube and proceeded to do nothing with the account. He seems to be into World of Warcraft. :/
