My goodness, what sort of beast have I unleashed? I offer a public apology to everyone for my submission which seems to have legitimized all this. Wail away at me.

There are plenty of examples on this site of a movie being published even if it's not "the fastest way". Look at Zelda 2 and Rygar. They are published because they show off more of the game. Some even prefer the longer movies like you said you would; for example, I like the longer Rygar a lot better because of better pacing and more glitches showcased.

I generally have to agree with everything said so far: it's cramped and just doesn't seem as streamlined before. I can get used to no screenshots and the navigation bar being on top, but the movies just don't seem to be as... self-contained? Streamlined? Can't find the word I'm looking for... Other things: As superjupi and others have said, arrange the movies alphabetically and index them alphabetically. Bring the download links to the front again. I found that really convenient. The pages for the individual movies seem more haphazard than before. The old layout was pleasing to look at, easy to navigate, and well organized; as it stands right now, it's none of those. Yes, as others have said, the old title format was just better. It conveys the same information (heck, more with the submission number) in a more streamlined manner than what it is now. That being said, I do find myself rather fond of the forum avatars appearing next to the movies. That, and the ratings being more readily apparent. Well, that's it for my whining today! Hope you all have a happy April Fool's day! Edit: Just one last thing: I know it's a temporary deal attached to the day, but I have to admit I was impressed with the text reader. Not only was it insanely good at getting the intonation right, but the Biritish accent made it sound like a cyberman was reading the page for me! ;P

I'm probably sending you on a wild goose chase with this one, but I swear more than once I've jumped without having that annoying little pause.

Here's a random thought: What happens if, as adult Link, you try and finish the unfinished dodongo's cavern?

Load up this save state, which was taken after some rather interesting glitching to get to the missile pack there, walk to the right till you can't walk anymore, and then jump to the right a few times. What's going on is that leaving that room in the upwards direction sets Samus to appear behind the scenery; however, because the warping causes the screen to appear on top of a boundary, Samus, when she jumps, will appear at the bottom of the room. This means that the room above that room happens to be the room itself. If any of this makes sense to you. The graphical glitch is little more than an interesting graphical anomaly. However, causing the screen to appear on top of a room boundary to get Samus to appear on the other side of the room has potential. In fact, it's essential to get out of that save state's situation gracefully. Just jump a few times from where Samus is standing once it's loaded and you're good to go!

I thought Animal Crossing was one of those games without an end. How in the world would that work? Collect all items and whatnot?

Yup, that's the one I was talking about. I personally call it "spike walking" because, well, you can walk on spikes using it. I ended up coming across it and thought, "Hm, this seems obscure enough for someone to have missed. Better ask before I show it off and make a fool of myself." Hadn't watched the movie yet because I wanted to complete the game on the original hardware before doing so. That being said, I have since gotten a hold of a hard copy, played it, and watched your any%. Very nice! Many of the metroid strategies were quite surprising. 'Twill be very helpful for the glitched run. On a side note: I was messing around with some of the properties of screwy scrolling and came across this little oddity. Something is very weird about the water there.

Arkanoid games do have bosses, although Arkanoid 3 for the Super Nintendo is littered with them. I do know of a few other Arkanoid clones, but none for the NES like you seem to have indicated.

Glitchy goodness that's 30 seconds faster = very yes! The approach to and from the hammer seemed a little bizarre, being slower than max speed and everything. But it appears to have worked well, so... Good job!

To the question, "Should a movie where the only change is a shorter name entry obsolete an older movie?" the answer, I would think, is "No." It is not sufficient for obsoletion because all they did was change something that wasn't even related the gameplay in the slightest. However, if they did that along with other things, such as new tricks or tactics the former author missed, or if the name itself affects luck more favorably (see Dragon Warrior for an example of that), then I have absolutely no issues with obsoletion. Even if the name were changed from "Ferret" to "?".

There's been a couple of topics recently of people looking for a game they remember playing but don't remember what it's called. So, for future questions, I present you this topic! That being said, there *is* a game I am looking for. It's an arcade game, a platformer back in the early 90's, in which you play as a floppy eared dog whose main mode of attack were these glass orbs filled with water. Chuck them a short distance and they burst, covering a portion of the ground they hit with a splash of water. Powerups give you bigger orbs, resulting in more splash. One of the bosses was a large robotic ball with a rabbit face and ears. It would bounce around the screen, and after a while open up, shooting two twirling streams of fire out of the sides. Anyone have any idea? When asking, please indicate what system the game is on and approximately what time period it may be from. Such things would be very helpful! Well, may you find your answers in this topic! Plus, for some further help, you can check out the What Was That Game? forums. Thanks, moozooh, for the pointer! Edit:[/b] Considering that several people have come here asking for help at the same time, I'll get a list going of individuals who still need help. Yeah, it's "klmz". A good mnemonic device is "klum-zee". Maybe that will help.

Just as a small FYI, Bag of Magic Food's account would be classified as "Youtube Poops". Look it up if you don't know what that means.

I would think "Select" would be better for taunting. There's no real need to have 3. D-Pad: One tap for tilt, double tap for "tapping" (for smashes and jumps and stuff). Of course, I'd personally disable the d-pad for jumping since I wouldn't use it for that and it would just get in the way of attacking. L for shield, R for grab. I guess it could work. Just make the timing on the double tap a little more lenient than it stands in Brawl. So yeah, maybe I spoke too soon. Wiimote just sucks for this game. Worse than Wimote + nunchuck.

I went out and bought me a used Gamecube controller for the express purpose of playing this game. I'm glad I did: I feel like I can actually play this now! As such, my already rather high opinions of this game have been boosted dramatically. Oh, before I got the controller, I tried a demo station using the sideways scheme. My impressions: If they're going to make a DS version anytime soon, they'll have to do something drastic to the gameplay, or at least with some of the timing. Main issue was the double tapping: it seemed you had to be WAY fast with it to get it to work. Mashing "down" to fall through a platform and not succeeding is not fun. But yeah, this game is great, Norfair notwithstanding! (future stage impressions will come later) Oh, I have to agree with CAD on the Pokéball issue. During my time playing non-training modes, Munchlax and some four-legged stomping thing came out in disproportionate amounts. And one last thing: DK rocks now! Man, has he been buffed. IronSlayer: Sorry to have let you down. I agree, we were both being rather childish. I probably shouldn't have posted that story; I'm most likely the bigger offender right now because of that. He and I seem to be cool now.

It's right before the crow problem right at the end. I moved around to the other side to push two keys up; Aqfaq discovered it's better to tackle one key before moving to the other side of the crow.

Since I just played this, I'll post impressions here. Overall, the experience was a good one. 'Tis a blast to play as virtually anyone, stages are mostly good, and the voice acting isn't as lousy when you're actually playing the darn thing instead of listening to low quality Youtube videos. Two problems I had, though. First was the controller. I was playing with the Wiimote + Chuck, and I had the darnedest time trying to get used to it. The sudden removal of some buttons and assignment to very awkwardly placed buttons ended up making my Melee/64 oriented brain do some interesting gymnastics as I tried to jump using the joystick, throw with two buttons, and use B as a trigger. Many times I ended up pressing Up + A trying to recover. Hopefully time (or a Wavebird) will remedy this. This continues to reinforce my opinion of the Wii controller: If it works and responds, it's fantastic. If it falls short of that, or it feels unnecessarily tacked on, forget it. My second problem is Norfair. I actually enjoyed the rising acid/lava Metroid levels from the past two games, but Norfair? Sorry, but that's just overkill. Also, this isn't a complaint as much as it is a nitpick, but in a way, this game feels out of place on the Wii. Yes, I can understand Sakurai's reluctance to make the game's control scheme rely heavily on the motion sensing, IR receiving nature of the controller, but there are at least eight places it would have been welcome: 1. Menus 2. Snake's final smash 3. Menus 4. The Dragoon 5. Menus 6. Character and stage selection screens 7. Menus 8. Menus Also, it would have been handy in the menus, but that's just a small thing. No biggie. Less than pleasant about the whole thing was the situation involved in playing it. My roommate has the Wii, and he said i could go ahead and play it, which I did. I was playing against random, level 3 opponents on random levels so I could get used to things. After a while, he came in and asked me how it was. I said, "I'm having a hard time getting used to it." "What are you having a hard time with?" "The controller." There was brief silence, broken with, "So you're saying you hate the game?" He said this with some irritation in his voice. Obviously I offended him somehow. "No, I'm saying I hate the controller." Which at that point I did. And probably still do. "What are you having trouble with?" "This setup just feels disjointed." "Like how do you mean?" More irritation. Can't a guy have an opinion about a controller? "Well, for example, I'm still trying to get used to using two buttons to throw." "What are you doing to throw?" He actually had me demonstrate to him what I was doing. Okay... "You know you can just use the D-pad to throw, right?" "Really? Thank you." I honestly did not know this tidbit. Tried it briefly, but that D-pad really stinks for that. Soon after this, a bat appears. I rush in to grab it and use it. "Throw the bat." I didn't see any purpose to doing so, so I kept using it. "Throw the bat." I just kept playing. "Dude, throw the bat!" His continuing irritation was really getting to me now, but I responded as calmly as I could. "I don't want to throw the bat." "Dude, I just wanna make sure you know how to throw the bat!" More irritation. Whoa, whoa, whoa, I thought to myself, what? You want to make sure that I know how to throw the bat? What the heck, man?! Who do you think you are, my Smash coach? Just let me freakin' play the freakin' thing, for Pete's sake! Not everyone is going to respond favorably to your favorite control setup! No need to be offended by any of this! Our conversation repeated as follows for about a minute before he gave up: "I just want to make sure you know how to throw the bat!" "I don't want to throw the bat!" Eventually I lost the bat, continued without it, and won the match. It was Falcon vs Luigi on New Pork City. So, in the future, I just might head over to Gamestop to get me a Wavebird so I can play the game decently. And I'll make sure he isn't the only human I'm playing against. Goodness, that was annoying. >_< Edit: To be fair, he probably thought I was being an intolerable jerk as well. Perhaps better communication will clear this up.
