You guys have yet to break Angel Island Zone. In any case, I like it. Yes vote.

I disagree. In a test run I did a while back of the first 3 levels I was able to manipulate by entering again and again and it generated right then and there. This may be because of a different version, however. (I did mine using the Japanese version, although I had the American by my side because I had no idea what the hell everything said.)
It does not work. Not even in the Japanese version. (By level, I mean floor) I (for example) manipulate the first level of the dungeon so the door appears one space away. Fine. But then the next level has an enemy nearby. No matter when or how I enter the stairs or whether I do anything whatsoever on the first level, the second level is always the same. The only possible way to change the second level without changing the first level is to quicksave and reset. Some (many) dungeons have over a dozen levels. I can do the manipulation (of all levels at once) before entering the dungeon, and without wasting time. That much is possible.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I was self-banned for a week. I halted progress ever since parrot14green submitted the 100% run. Working on the run at the same time was not a good idea. Also, I was busy (and I still am now). The next level will be a pain. I will eventually work on it sometime. But not for the next few days at least.

wtf no. You should "seriously" stop telling others what runs to do. It's not up to you, it's up to them.
It's for his own good. I do not want people not to pursue a dead end if they don't know what they are doing. If he likes to TAS this hack, then OK with him.

Zowayix, could you request that Bisqwit come to a decision whether this hack would be accepted if it was optimized to current standard? The rules state that you must ask permission first anyway. P.S. You should try other types of games. See List Of Ideas. Edit: Reworded to avoid "Mario"-specific language.

1. Halo: Combat Evolved (XBox) 2. Jet Set Radio Future (XBox) 3. Commander Keen 5 (PC-DOS) 4. Splinter Cell (XBox) 5. Halo 2 (XBox) 6. Space Quest 2 (PC-DOS) (too many other random games to name) No, I am not skillful in games for TAS-capable systems. If you want something though, Strike Gunner S.T.G. (SNES) followed by Super Mario Kart is the best guess.

Though I am glad that you took the time to improve the movie very much, my point that this is a hack still stands. I doubt this will be accepted. I now understand the action you did in 1-1 (although I don't agree with it). On the last submission, I mistook it as a bad mistake. Not voting.

This isn't a hack, this is a map made up of levels [actually] in the [coding] for Super Mario Bros. 3.
Because it is true that these levels exist in the coding and cannot be played with any official ROM, it requires a hack to play these levels. Then again, the situation may be comparable to hacking Knuckles into Sonic 1.

And what Pokémon did you choose? It's, of course, a significant choice.
Of course I will change it later, but considering that I have no clue right now (i.e. just trying to get used to the game), I autofired through and got a Bulbasaur (starter) and Charmander (partner).

No clue why that would be, but good. It might even be the same for Japanese Firered vs. U.S. Firered (random encounter manipulation). Who knows?

I started a test run of this game, but the problem is that every level of a dungeon is determined from the beginning. Once I manipulate Level 1, all the other levels are set.

I dislike any type of 'normal' segmented run. It is like using a 'limited' set of save states. What is the difference in using only using 10 save states, or 10,000 save states?
Segmented runs are useful for games not yet emulated. And because there is a limitation of segments, it tests speedrunning skill. Using emulator (i.e. arbitrary) savestates doesn't.

I think it's silly that SDA forbids (according to what I've read) bots to automate even the most meaningless tasks. A Diablo II run, for instance, will be the same whether a human luck manipulates a gambled item, or a bot does. The only difference is that the human will eventually get old and die trying to manipulate a 1/1000 drop by hand.
Problem is that allowing bots would open up a can of worms.

While the hack was pretty nice (except the music), it does not beat Super Demo World. Too bad. No vote.

I hate to say "TAS this hack at SMB3 standard or no one cares" for fear of perpetuating a vicious cycle. But the lack of competence in this movie is appalling. If you are going to showcase this hack, be reasonable about it. 500-something rerecords won't do. That said, I'll look at this submission hack-wise. There's a reason why they are "lost levels". That's because Nintendo made it that way, and they are not that good. In any case it is a hack, and, in my opinion, it's not good for TASing. No vote.

This site has strict rules for emulators: http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/Requirements.html Thanks for linking to new emulators, though. The Commodore 64 one looks interesting. In the future, please do not post topics like "CamStudio" -> "http://camstudio.org/". At least explain why such information is useful. An opening message that is three lines or less is too short. Please also refrain from posting topics. Do some replying for once. P.S. This site is not in need of CamStudio anyway, even though it is a free screen-capture program.

what about ev? trust me, 1 more of any stats can help you greatly
Yes, EVs are useful, but I can't luck-manipulate for them. I can only battle for them, and I don't want to battle any more than I already do. Well, PokeRUS doubles EV rate, but I don't want to spend forever trying to get it, considering that IV+nature is far more significant, and I spent a long time to even come close to a max stat in Attack (for Machop, that is).

Late reply from me, I think it's Tool-Assisted Superplay (see forum logo), I'm not sure where everyone getting "Tool-Assisted Speedrun" from tho.
The wording "tool-assisted superplay movies" (as in the logo) originated before the acronym "TAS" was invented. "TAS" was invented as an acronym for "tool-assisted speedrun". "TAS" does not (nor did it ever) stand for "tool-assisted superplay".

I liked the new layout, but the speech synthesizer slowed down the page and usability was poor (e.g. you couldn't edit pages or submissions). The speech synthesizer does not pronounce French language well.

This game reminds me of Sonic, with its fast-paced action. The funniest thing is when it looks like Buster runs into an enemy but it is the end-of-level thing (sorry, don't know what it is called). Yes vote.

From what little I got to watch, it was awesome. Unfortunately, my run desyncs around the time you meet, uh, doan? The old dude in the future who you give the seed to.
You need a reset-recording version of Snes9x v1.43+ (the most recent version will do).

I like the strategies used in this run. Yes vote. By the way, it seems to match up with a bad ROM. That's why NesVideoAgent can't find it.

I removed the "1 player controls 3 characters" tag from Maniac Mansion. Due to caching, it will take a while for it to disappear.

Oh, here's a funny and somewhat related TASVideos FAQ quote: "Once upon a time, someone calculated that in a 11 minute movie that has been re-recorded 50000 times, a savestate has apparently been loaded on average 75 times per second. What is wrong with this figure?"
While I agree that some may think 50000 rerecords for 11 minutes is excessive, there can be many reasons for that thinking, and the FAQ doesn't really address that. The FAQ may seem to indicate: - People think that 50000 rerecords in 11 minutes means that a savestate has been loaded 75 times per real-time second, which is so ridiculous that to think people think that is in itself ridiculous. - People assume that rerecord density is uniform (i.e. for 50000 rerecords in 11 minutes, a savestate has been pressed precisely (or even about) 75 times for each second of the movie. In actual fact, rerecord density is far from uniform. In my opinion, what people actually think is that the 11-minute movie takes no more than a few days to make, which makes the 50000 rerecords seem excessive. If they knew that the movie would take, say, 6 months, then it wouldn't seem so excessive. It should be stated in the FAQ how long it generally takes for these projects. The title of the section is:
Isn’t 50,000 re-records for an 11 minute movie excessive?

If that is the only difference, then that shouldn't even be a question. On the subject of what character names should be, well, it depends on the game. In my opinion, if a character's default name is meaningful, it should be used. If not, any name can be used, including one-character names. If a one-character name is used, the best ones to use are "I", "U", and non-alphanumeric characters.

Welcome to the forums, Vykan12. This is as non-speculative as it gets (for Wii tool-assisted "playing"): http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5306 However, I don't know much about the Wii remote. It is technically possible for emulated pointing devices to travel arbitrarily fast, but at some point, the action must break down (either the game puts a hard cap on speed, or it glitches, or it does nothing, and so on). We can always dream on.
