After seeing Trihex stream it, a definite yes vote. Anything at all that I say would be a humongously massive understatement.

I vote "meh" because I don't think it's possible to reset mid-frame on an actual SNES... (I could be wrong, but I dunno) Also, I liked the current run more because it explored more of what happens in the game with a corrupted save, rather than just getting to the ending credits as fast as electronically possible. (as opposed to humanly possible)

That GameFAQs thing is a lie... I recently started TLA, entered my password, and after the "item check" screen was able to rename my characters from the original game. No idea if the names stuck, I'm about ten hours or so away from that =/

Hm... They redirect it into the Woodfall temple, killing the boss there and freeing the fourth giant, who then shows up and gets all angry for waking him up for nothing.[/sarcasm] In all reality, I have played the game, but since when I did it was for completing it properly and hadn't even considered sequence breaking (or anything else related to TAS for that matter), so I apologize for seeming like a complete and total idiot.

Just tried sequence breaking by only freeing one giant. (you need one to learn Oath to Order, of course) Turns out you *can* play the Oath to Order and *can* get the giant to come, but the moon doesn't stop. Will try with two and three giants and see if that works. lol, not only did the bad ending not finish, but for some reason Project64 gave an exception error... I have found something that may speed up the water hopping portions as a Deku Scrub though (if there are any left with new TAS runs): Spinning off the ledge causes you to hop forward at the same speed you spun with. (sorta like the shield/bomb trick only forward instead) I'm sure it's been noticed before, but just in case it hasn't... And looking at the SDA video, I see a good few minutes of improvement that are just due to human error... I could easily see this end up at close to 1:45 if not 1:30 TAS'ed...

Hm... 3:17... at 60 FPS (Majora's runs at 20 on Mupen for some odd reason, but I've noticed every third frame actually plays sound or for that matter even advances the video at all) that's 11,820 frames. Even the author said he had a few mistakes that wouldn't be there in a TAS...

I see quite a bit there... I just got Guano's OOT run and decided to try it with the Japanese version of the game... Turns out the dialog scrolls much faster in that one. If someone were to run with the Japanese ROM, it's a couple thousand frames saved just from game start to the end of the "you got the kokiri sword!" dialog. Bet some desync happens later on though... edit: Not desync, but different content? There are three Rupees in the English where there weren't in the Japanese...

I understand killing time waiting for the Cuckoo to hatch, but what was with the constant dropping and picking up the bugs? Or was it to use the Ocarina without having it?

The mp4 is corrupt for some reason... Crashes my browser whenever I try to play it there, and downloading it gives a similar result.

Dunno if this has been asked in 256 pages (and I don't have the time to search through them) but has anyone considered doing a run of Master Quest? (most every ROM I see for it has been for N64 despite it being for GameCube, considering it *is* the game engine with different dungeons... Or is it similar enough to the original that a TAS isn't needed?

I'm trying to use the replay movie of Majora's Mask, but whenever I start it, I get the "controller is not inserted" message from the game engine (as opposed to the emulator) Now when I start the game normally without it, this isn't an issue. Emulator settings: Mupen64 re-record edition Graphics: Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 Input: N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.80a Sound: Jabo's DirectSound 1.6 RSP: RSP emulation plugin (is there even a different one?) I've had other replays work with these settings (a couple have had desync issues but that may be due to differing ROMs) but I'm wondering what's up with this. Note: I have made sure that the ROM file is the same as described in the submission through the "load replay" box in Mupen. edit: if it's my controller plugin, a place to get it would be greatly appreciated. Update: I found the instructions for making the replay work, but the TAS control plugins' download link is broken (all three)
