I'm very impressed by this run, MrWint. The amount of planning necessary to keep the two runs synchronised for trading time and stock is nearly mind-boggling. Definitely voted yes! I wonder if there are any more Pokémon that Red could have caught or evolved in order to save a trade or two? Obviously, three limiting factors are the amount of XP attainable in the run, how much cash is available for evolution stones, and how much time would be needed to catch another Pokémon. Something to roll around in my head, I guess :) I hadn't realised that the link cable had been successfully emulated yet. What a pleasant surprise!
Post subject: How do I auto-pause on load in lsnes?

I've become interested in making a no-glitch TAS of Pokémon GSC like Fractal Fusion did. I downloaded lsnes and, so far, I've figured out how to do some basic things (like set up keybindings and memory watches). I can't figure out how to make the game pause when I load the ROM, though. I want to be able to frame-advance from power on, but so far emulation always starts normally even if I'd paused it before re-loading the ROM. Will "soft reset" do what I want it to? Or starting to record a new movie? Is there an option somewhere I haven't found yet? Thanks!

I was planning to use the speedrundemo version as the basis for what to get, which means that I'll be skipping the blue armour, the red shield, and skipping extra bomb or arrow capacity. I will be getting all 24 heart pieces and all 25 selectable items. With regards to comparison with flagitious's video: counting from character select, Zelda's "thank you" text box appears at frame 10314 for flagitious; in mine, it appears at frame 10864. A large number of those extra frames are due to my own inaccuracies, the fact that I stop for a few extra bush rupees, and the fact that I get the lantern from the prison cell treasure box before I trigger Zelda's speech. I think I do defeat a few of the necessary soldiers faster than flagitious does, but I also defeat a completely unnecessary soldier because I couldn't figure out how to make him not be in the way. Thanks for the tip about the fire/ice rods! It should be easy to swap around when I get the ice rod. A lot of my run has become modular, because of all of the fluting around.

Does flagitious have a 100% items run in progress? I looked through the thread and couldn't find it. Here is my current work-in-progress; this version is at 56292 frames ~= 15m38s, in the second half of the second pendant dungeon. I do use save and quit, I do use flagitious's wobble trick, and I will be using the levitation trick when I need to. This definitely won't be the final version; watching flagitious's speed run, the speedrundemo's 100% item run, and digging through this thread have given me ideas on how to improve it. So far the tentative route (leaving out heart pieces for now, and mugging for rupees until the forest) is: -castle -sanctuary, quit warp to house -1st pendant, boots, quit warp to house -book, quit warp to house -desert dungeon, quit warp to sanctuary -death mountain and hera's tower, quit warp to sanctuary -bet rupees in the woods, grab mushroom, master sword, quit warp to house -castle, agahnim -crystal #1 -flute boy, to town, bottle, net, bird, bottle, crystal #4 -cloak, flute to house, castle warp, temp warps to drop mushroom and get powder, quake, flippers, boomerang -flute to mountain, ether, staff of byrna -flute to village, drop off sword for tempering, get 1/2 magic, get sword back, get locked chest, flute to location 7, tile warp, temp warp to unlock the chest, bombos -crystal #6 -flute to location 7, crystal #2 -crystal #5, bridge bottle, flute to location 8, ice rod -flute to location 7, tile warp, big bomb run, arrows, 4th sword -flute to village, tile warp, crystal #3 -flute to mountain, cut across the bridge at the bottom, tile warp, crystal #7, mirror shield -ganon's tower, red armour -final boss Thanks for the tips so far!

Thread resurrection... activate! I am a newcomer to the forums... so new, in fact, that this is the first post I've dared. I decided I'd try a Zelda:aLttP 100% items run. I have currently completed the first pendant (edit: and gotten the Pegasus Boots) in about 40500 frames, which is about a minute and a half faster than speeddemos' current best. I probably won't be able to keep making comparisons for too many more dungeons, because I (luckily) have worked out a different path. I don't have webspace currently, so I can't provide a copy of the .smv file. :(
