I don't know if he's mentioned this yet, but cheetah7071 is working on a walkthrough of SCW. (I think he said he was starting one.) Anyway, last time I saw it, which was this afternoon, he had gotten every exit up through Lava Castle, and was working on Whomp's Fort 1. I imagine that this will be very helpful for OW route planning. Just so people know.

It's not very often I can say that I broke a game. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3743/brokenSCW.smv Spoilers for people who haven't beaten a lot of the levels.
Yeah, I know about that glitch. It's fairly minor; just don't savestate in the endless bonus room of cruel and unusual non-deathy punishment. I'm surprised at how many people have found it though... Do you all just run around the overworld pressing random buttons? :)

Are you doing a 100% run? I liked your WIP so far, very nice. If you are doing a min percent exit, can you get the Key exit in Mt Eerie 2 (the one that requires a cape) using wall-jumps+shells? Could this potentially change some routes? (I'm not sure, I haven't completed the whole game).
The secret exit to Mt. Eerie 2 doesn't require a cape. Has someone managed to complete it that way? I thought I forced Mario to be small to run up the wall and get the exit...

mrz, Do you know the levels? Worldmap route? Cape/fireflower planning? etc. Seems like a pretty tough game to dive right into. If you do, I'll try to help of course.
Here are a few pointers to consider about the game, a few of which I believe Chef Stef also mentioned: 1) The first cape is located in the second level of world 5, Lava Lake 2. When Chef Stef was TASing the game, his plan was to get there as soon as possible so as to minimize time getting secret exits with the cape. 2) It is important to know that many levels have some sort of power-up blocker, so you may have to lose the cape (or Yoshi) and get another later. Some of the levels (if I remember correctly) that make you lose the cape are Twilight Fortress, Mystery Castle, and the Blue Palace. Of course, if you somehow manage to get past with a cape, that's good too. 3) I highly recommend playing through the entire game first, as I imagine the optimal map route is extremely complex and will take some serious planning. 4) I strived for conformity in this game in terms of number of exits. Every yellow level, house, and switch palace has only one exit, and every red level, castle, and fortress has two. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

There are exactly 114 exits in the game. I miscounted and originally said there were 120, and I believe Chef Stef accidentally said there were 109, but 114 is indeed the correct number. To simply beat Bowser though, I believe there are an absolute minimum of 43 exits required. On another note, I am currently working on another hack, and this one will use new graphics (some ripped from Yoshi's Island, and some original) as well as custom blocks and a few other ASM hacks. I'll probably give a demo of this on SMW central in a week or so. Anyone who wants some more information on this in the meantime can feel free to PM me. The reason I mention this is that some people may think that this hack has more TAS potential than SCW.

Thanks for the hints. I've completed the Fort House and it takes me to Dino Valley alright. The thing is, it takes me to Dino Valley 2, not 1. From DV2 (which is a yellow level) I get to the Valley House. A new yellow dot did appear over DV2 but there's no way to get to it. There's also a dark green spot for a new level above DV2 but I can't get there either. I have gotten the exits from DV2, Valley House and Valley Fortress (two exits in the fort).
Oops, sorry, I was thinking of the wrong level. To get to DV1, you'll need to get the secret exit to Whomp's Castle. Every castle and fortress in the game has two exits, so keep this in mind when trying to find all exits. Sorry about the exit counter on the title screen - SCW was my first hack, and I had no idea of how to do ASM hacks/minor alterations.
