Thanks for the info Fabian, I actually didn't know you were making another 96 exit run. Your first run was so good though, how much do you think you can beat it by?

Hello fellow SMW TAS enthusiasts! This game is awesome and I have followed this thread from the beginning and decided to finally post. I'm assuming that both runs will not be unveiled until they are finished, which is fine. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me the progress on any of the runs, or some sort of estimated time they will be completed. Thanks in advance for this information and good luck to everyone involved in these runs!

Wow man, awesome run! I always loved morimoto's run and tried to do something like this, but it is too hard and frustrating. I guess its good that we have speedrunners like you to make every detail as perfect as possible. It was awesome that you wrote stuff at the end of stage 3 and made cool designs with the options. Definitely a yes vote, hopefully this will be starred. I hope in the future that you will try to TAS some other game with crazy speed upgrades or something like that.

Damn, you finally did it! Great job man, this was a fantstic game on one of the best games on the SNES. I thoroughly enjoyed following your progress through this 102% completion and will definitely vote yes(if I can). I hope your next run, if you decide to do one, will show the same hard work that you've spent hours on like this run. Thank you for giving this site another great run! EDIT : Yay, I am the 38th yes vote!

Yay, you finished world 5! Wow this was an awesome world, I thoroughly enjoyed every level. I hope you can make world 6 just as awesome. On another note, regarding glitches, I found one myself that is quite interesting. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2334/Weird%20Float%20Glitch.smv Someone has probably found this glitch before, but I thought I'd share here for anyone who doesn't know about it. I can't think of any TAS or speedrun use for it, but it looks cool! I haven't this tested very much yet, but if anyone cares, I can give the few details about it that I do know.

Actually, I believe Bag of Magic Food is talking about bribing the guard in front of Hyrule Castle. I'm assuming that you are thinking of the guard blocking the gate near DM, which does start the child link trade sequence. Anyway, I don't think that bribing the guard should be considered part of the 100% goals, but it might come up in the 100% thread.

Wow, I can't believe you're almost done with another entire world already! The new WIP looks awesome, especially Black Ice Battle. The only thing that I thought looked weird was at the end of Black Ice Battle, you didn't do a goal switch. Of course, I have no idea how the goal switch works and you have probably already tested stuff, I'm just throwing it out there just in case. The run is still going great it looks like, can't wait for Slime Climb. Good luck! P.S. That's an awesome avatar!! Metaknight rules!

The "Bottle Adventure" trick/glitch has been discussed at length a few months ago, probably before comicalflop started following this thread. Because this thread is enormous, it is hard to look for information on a certain subject. In an attempt to alleviate potential tension between this board's veterans and newbies, I have provided shortcuts to anyone who doesn't understand bottle adventure and/or how this run (ab)uses it. I know there is probably a lot more, but I just tried to get the key points. mwl's second post on page 96 - This is Acryte's explanation on how to do the bottle glitch in 24 easy steps, as generously provided by mwl. http://www.jaytheham.com/zc/oot.php?page=ootba - This is a page dedicated to bottle adventure, telling how to do it, its uses, etc. AKA's first post on page 96 - This is AKA's hypothesis on the optimal route for this run, using the bottle adventure glitch. I hoped I have helped some people with this post and hope to help in the future. P.S. Good luck with this awesome run Guanobowl and company! EDIT: Didn't see mwl's post before submitting this. Sorry mwl, I didn't mean to contradict you, I just wanted to help out anyone confused about this glitch.

Yeah, that's a good point. When you release the WIPs one level at a time, people have the opportunity to view it one frame at a time to ensure frame-perfect...ness. :)

Hey comicalflop! I've just recently started watching the WIPS of your latest version. Damn, you are just owning this game! I've looked through your whole run twice and I can't see anything wrong with it. It is obvious that you have spent a lot of hours testing frames, strategies, etc. and you are dedicated to this run, which is fantastic. I hope you can keep up the good work throughout the run and add yet another great movie to this site. Good luck!

Hey, glad your back to working on this. I just watched the WIP and wow, its just awesome. Most of your Springin' Spiders level was incredibly well done; fast and entertaining. At the end of the level, however, it looked a little bit weird. The first thing was the getting hit by the green bee, I guess its the fastest way, but it looked odd for some reason. Second, right before the last bonus, you jump over a spider and use dixie's hover to get the bear coin before the bonus. I'm pretty sure you can hug the edge after the jump so you don't have to use dixie's float. The last thing was the banana bonus, but you already knew that. Also, I have no clue where you lost frames at the boss, it looked perfect to me, guess I'll look harder. Other than that, I think this run is pretty much as good as its gonna get. Hopefully you still have time to work on this run and to keep the quality as great as the first two worlds. Again, thanks for running this great game and good luck!

Well, I finally watched your lastest WIP through Kremwood Forest and it looks awesome! I can't find any major problems, but apparently Sami has found some small problems that probably only cost you a few frames. I am not experienced enough with this game to be able to give you frame-perfect advice, but I Sami can help you perfect any imperfect movements. As for Mekanos, the first 2 levels and the boss are pretty straightforward, but Ripsaw Rage, Blazing Bazukas, and Low-G Labyrinth will probably give you some problems. In Ripsaw Rage, I'm pretty sure it is possible to run through the entire level without waiting for the camera to follow you, but I don't know how to do it. Most likely, you will need a camera hack to help you see where you are going, similar to Nitsuja's Sonic Advance run. In Low-G Labyrinth, because of the low gravity, it is probably better to not roll jump, because you will be in the air for a long time for each jump. Instead, you should either run or do multiple rolls along long tunnels, whichever is faster. I haven't played Blazing Bazookas alot, but If I remember correctly, it is pretty complicated. I hope you don't get too frustrated with this world because you have a water-themed world up next, which most people hate to TAS. Just try to have fun with this run and try to think how awesome it's going to be when it is finished. Good Luck!

Wow, I didn't even know that was possible, that's pretty cool. I feel stupid for assuming it was impossible to get past without hitting it, but it really looked that way. Anyway, I still think the current 105% run should continue as is and a separate run be created alongside it. That's the great thing about speedruns, they show other people things that are possible in certain games. I didn't think the above screenshot was possible and I was proved wrong. This is yet another reason for a no-barrel run to be made: To show that it it possible and for entertainment. Sorry that you had trouble with Squeals On Wheels, I would have liked to help you with that, but I was away. Glad that you are almost finished with that and that the WIP will be posted soon. Good luck finishing Kremwood Forest!

Well, I'm back now so I can hopefully help your run in any way I can. I haven't watched your WIP yet so I can't really comment but I am happy to see that your movie is almost 10 seconds faster! I'll comment as soon as I watch it, but I really wanted to address the code vs. no code isuue. I'm not saying it would be a bad idea, I just can't see how it would be faster than a run that uses the code. Besides, even if you use start + select to bypass the star barrel in Barrel Shield Bust-Up, there is no way to get around hitting the star barrel in Doorstop Dash. I made a screenshot showing why it's impossible, but I don't know how to upload it, so just see for yourself. I do think it would be interesting to see a movie that dodges barrels or other stuff, but it just wouldn't fit into this run. Maybe someone could make a "Least barrels used while getting 105% without using codes" run as it seems that at least a few people, including me, would like to watch it and maybe help with it.

That's actually a good idea! I didn't think of doing the blizzard/blue/bazooka cycle while going to get the shell and the mirror, that might actually be faster than getting the mirror and shell before K3. Anyway, I'm gonna be on vacation for like a week so I probably won't be able to help you very much or comment on your WIP, but that's okay because you're doing this run really well already. Keep up the good work!

I think what Weatherton is saying is that star barrels like that or the one in Doorstop Dash do not take off %, but star barrels that can be avoided, like in most levels do take off %. To me, this sounds ludicrous, but even if it were true, I'm sure the majority of people watching the run would rather see you enter a 5-letter code in the beginning of the game at lightning speed than watch you go through the entire game avoiding almost all barrels.

I really don't think the programmers of this game took off % points to each avoidable dk barrel or star barrel you open, sounds pretty ridiculous. Besides, entering the code takes like 5 seconds or less and by entering the code, you are technically playing on the "toughest" difficulty.

Sorry if this is a little late and I know that this is already published, but I want to congratulate you on going through this run. Even though I couldn't have voted, I would've given this an obvious Yes vote. I know you had some trouble getting it done, but now that it is done, it looks freakin great. It would be hard for me to find a part of the run that I liked the best, it was all awesome. I hope to watch any other game you run in the future and I hope you make look as kickass as this one. Good job man!

Wow, I'm so glad that you're not using warps. I was originally going to do that in my run and decided that most people just want to see the game done as fast as possible, but I agree that a warpless run for this game will look alot better. I am glad to hear that you are aware of the bear coins being needed, I just hope that you can get them in the first 4 worlds, but if not, it won't matter that much. I thought you did good on Skidda's Row, but I may have not watched it close enough. Heh, that was a weird bug to get into the bonus without jumping on it! I guess getting the DK coin could've been faster, but your idea looked better in my opinion. I tested and it is actually possible to fit in between the red bee and the platform, I guess only certain parts of Ellie are vulnerable. I made a .smv showing this, I'll try to upload it somehow (still getting used to things at these forums). It sucks that you're gonna start the run over, but at least it will be better now! Try not to lose hope and give up on this because so many people want to see this. I look forward to seeing more of your insane tricks and timesavers. Good luck! EDIT: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1626/notsobigellie.smv The above link shows how to get in between the red bee and the platform in Murky Mill. Its not optimized at all and I hit the last platform, but you get the idea. I don't blame you at all for thinking its not possible because Ellie clearly appears to be sitting on the bee, but whatever works right?

Hi Nibelung! Glad to see someone is finally working on this run. I think this is an awesome run because people watching will get to see much more of the game compared to the any% run. They will get to see entire levels, all kinds of secret places that hold bonuses and DK coins, and something like 80+ bonuses. Also, there will be alot more action on the world map. I hope everyone will watch this run when it is completed because this is one of the funnest games on SNES. The reason I seem to be advertising the game so much is because I was going to work on this run, but I just don't have the patience. Oh well, maybe someday. Anyway, even if I'm not working on the run, I might be able to help you by making suggestions on what might be faster. I'm pretty sure you know what you are doing and I may be wrong about some things, but it couldn't hurt to double check. I'm not very good at putting some things into words, so hopefully other people can clarify if you don't know what I'm talking about. Also, I am very thankful that you are doing this run so don't take my comments and suggestions the wrong way, I'm just trying to help make this run as great as the game. Now some comments/suggestions: -As SpiDeY said, I also don't know why you save at wrinkly's in the begginning. I guess it may be so you can start there after you beat the game the first time? Lakeside Limbo -You seemed to run with dixie instead of roll jumping in some parts. -Have you tested whether using the warp is faster or not? Doorstop Dash -You climbed up some ropes normally. I'm wondering if it might be faster to jump off the rope upwards and then grab the rope again and repeat. -Using invincibility to get under the door(Or at least that's what I think you did) was absolutely brilliant! -After the second bonus, you don't get the bear coin above the rat's head. Although in the next level you get 2 bear coins, you should remember that you need 55 coins for the shell and the mirror reasonably quickly. Hopefully, you can get the the mirror right after you get the turboskis so after you beat K3, you can go to Barter's and get the wrench you need for the next world as this saves you time in backtracking. Of course, you may have already planned out when and where you're going to get the 55 bear coins, in which case it is alright that you missed the bear coin above the rat. -After the second level, you go to Smuggler's Cove. I was thinking it might be a little bit faster to go to Smuggler's Cove when you went back to trade the shell for the banana bird, but I may be wrong and it probably doesn't matter that much anyway. Tidal Trouble -In the third level, around frame 20390, you land in the water before jumping on the bugs. Isn't it faster to skip on the water a second time to get to the bugs faster? I'm assuming that there is a problem with my idea, but I wanted to ask just in case you missed that. -Again you didn't use the warp. For this level, I don't know if using the warp is faster or not, but I hope that you can test it or that you already have tested it. Skidda's Row -You did a great job on this level, it was perfect! (Or if not perfect, really close to it.) Murky Mill -Again, the warp was not used. I think the time difference is small, but probably worth testing. -Nice first bonus! -Getting the DK coin faster was yet another brilliant idea! -At around frame 31900, you land on the vertically moving wooden platform next to the red bee. I think it would be faster to jump between the red bee and that platform and just fall through that whole red-bee-and-platforms part, if it's possible. By the way, it is possible to jump between the red bee and the platform without getting hurt. Belcha's Barn (I love how almost every level name in this game uses alliteration!) -No problems here! Great strategy on not throwing the beetle into Belcha's mouth. This is a great start to a great run and I hope you can keep the awesomeness going throughout the run! Just try to remember where warps are, where bear coins are, and try to have a fast route planned up to the end of the game. Good luck with Kremwood Forest!

Sure, I love watching these things, but understand somebody has to play devil's advocate and actually point out things. If you can't handle criticism, then just publish the runs and do not have any threads for feedback.
Both mwl and AKA, while greatly helping the run, have criticized the run, but they weren't so mean about it and they actually pointed things out that were wrong with it, which you have not done. Rather than just insulting people, try pointing out exactly what could have been done better like telling him how Dampe's race could have been better or how traveling across Hyrule could have been faster. The reason people are mad at you is because you are criticizing the wrong way. Try reading you previous messages from Guanobowl's point of view and hopefully you can understand why everyone is upset with your statements. Btw, this isn't a flame or anything, I'm trying to give suggestions to you and hopefully stop this war. I also believe other people should stop insulting TSA, as that will lead to more arguing and more flames.

Wow, just watched this run today and it blew me away. I thought your last movie of this game was perfect, but I guess there was one more trick you didn't use. I can't vote yet, but I can't see any reason this shouldn't be published. I figure this run fits into the same category as the last one even if it does use left+right. I believe other runs also use left+right and I know the popular SMB2 run uses up+down. Either way it should definitely be published as it is very entertaining and insanely fast-paced. Good job, man!

Hey everyone, I've been a lurker here for a couple years and decided to finally sign up so I can comment on runs like this. Unfortunately, at the time I chose to post this, there seems to be another speedrun VS. TAS debate. I have followed the OOT thread from the beginning and have watched the entire run, thanks to everyone who helped convert this run from the .m64 to the .avi, and it was really fun to watch and showed off many things that most people would probably never even think of. This was a great quality run and was still incredibly entertaining even with all the backwalking. Mwl, AKA, and countless others put so much work into this run helping out with routes, finding out new tricks and sequence breaks, glitches etc. and Guanobowl has done a great job putting this run together even with desynchs and other problems. After so much work being done by so many people, it is hard for me to agree with anything TSA has said about how this run shouldn't have been published. Although there are possible improvements with both the emulator and new tricks in the games, you don't have to badmouth the run to get your point across. Almost everyone here has made good points about why this run should or should not be published, but they have done it without insulting entire groups of people. *end rant* Now that I'm done with that, I will focus on the positive things. Guanobowl, I cannot thank you enough for having the patience to run through this huge game and providing entertainment to everyone who has watched it and to people that will someday watch it. I hope that when another OOT run starts, you will be able to help the people making the run , either running it yourself or giving suggestions. FanTAStic job! JXQ, I loved listening to your commentary, man, it was so entertaining and funny. I think you should consider making commentaries on other runs as other people besides myself enjot listening to the opinions of a great TAS author as well as your sense of humor. I hope you make a commentary on the 2nd half of this run. Wow, pretty long for a 1st post. I know most of you will think I am a noob for writing stuff like this, and voicing my opinion in my first post, but try to remember that I have been here a couple years, I just haven't posted.
